Very disappointed with balogun extension that defence needs ripped up davies and goldson and barasic need to go i'd mayble keep tavernier and souttar that is it 2 new ch are needed with sterling at rb and jefte lb taverniers legs are going but he could still play a part if sterling gets injured but the goldson and davies partnership is weak goldson has lost a yard and davies is too nice we need big ugly chs like bougherra or Amaruso lots of players we have are over the hill new blood needed.

Balegeon is a great back up. If Goldson goes as well as Davis then he's needed. i'd sell Souttar also.

I think this is smart, we’ll have champions league qualification very soon and the last thing we need to two new centre half’s there, or playing a kid if we’ve not concluded our recruitment.
Balogun won’t play much but he’s better to have on the books especially at the start of the season.

I'm with Fred86.
The issue isn't Balogun stepping in and doing a decent job.
The issue is we need regular starters.
And unfortunately at this stage Balogun isn't going to be the rock in our defence for 50 games a season.
Now what if we don't get rid of the others?
Are we all going to be happy with 2 CH's from Goldson, Souttar, Davies, Balogun and potentially Cordoba?
Or would you rather let Balogun go to free up a space in the squad to get in a quality CH?
We've moaned the fact that Roofe, Jack, Helander etc have all taken a wage for nearly nothing in return. Balogun with his limited game time also fits the bill.
I get he loves the club.
I get we need experienced pros.
But is that enough?

Balogun is the best centre half at the club, hasn't put a foot wrong. Great decision to keep him.

MPH i would normally agree with you but we can’t get rid of everyone we want in one window or it would be the best window ever. As long as he is back up i have no problem with that and the starters will be signed hopefully.

I just do t understand how people can think we can just get rid of everyone and full new defence in it's madness, Balagun signing is a low risk signing, player won't be unsettled, he bridges the gap for new incomong players to settle, knows the pressures and is ready to go for CL qualifying, how can that be a bad thing? His wages aren't massive and it's a one year deal for a guy who rarely puts a foot wrong.

I understand that, Storm.
But what if no one comes in for them? Most of us agree they aren't up to standard. They also have contracts for another couple of years.
Goldson - 2026
Davies - 2026
Souttar - 2026
It's approximately ( and I know it's not official ) £70k a week for the 3 of them. Difficult to move on.
There is no way on Gods green Earth that Rangers will buy other CH's until some are moved on.
So in my view the only one who can be moved on right now to free up space in the squad is Balogun.
He's also only been in the matchday squad 19 times - which is less than both Jack and Roofe! can we rely on him for a full season?
