Being from Angus we didn't have any. But always remember coming down scottish cup games. Think we play lourdes academy quarter finals of scottish cup. Having never played on it before we were at a massive disadvantage. And yeah slide tackle once you will try not doing it again.

We were lucky played our school homes games at Scotstoun show ground now the leisure centre and rugby ground, we had grass parks and Glasgow school and District finals were played on grass park at south side, think it was called Roseberry?
Apart from that all gravel parks.

Perthshire juniors in Possilpark had black ash back in the 70s and 80s…. had many gashed legs and still have the “5 mitre” indentation embedded in my inner thigh.

I remember watching my Junior Team Irvine Meadow against Ashfield, it looked painful TBH, I always played on grass, but wouldn't have fancied playing on Ash Parks.
