Burnley keeper James Trafford called up to senior squad as a replacement what does big Butland need to do? - quick question would yous have liked Butland to have got the England call up and be involved with there squad? Or would yous prefer him at home training with rangers? Me personally would have liked him to get the call up .

Him getting called up would be great. If I was England manager I would select him.
I am assuming Southgate just doesn't see him as first choice, therefore pickford is first and he is selecting young keepers as back up to gain experience.

If he got called up at the start then yeah but there’s no point now. They’ve only taken Trafford because he’s already in the England setup with the u21s who will be at the same facility.

Devils advocate here, what has JB done to deserve a call up? Not even a full season up here, after years on the bench down south, and as I've said before I don't recall many games where he has almost won us the game a la Goram or McGregor for instance.

Surely Trafford not called up. Last week I was told I was talking rubbish when I said he was in front of butland and would be next for a call up.

Bar, It's not just what he has achieved however on that I would say he has made some crucial saves that have led us to victory.
The reason I would have him in their squad is for any game they get at earliest stages against lesser countries where England may have majority of possession and patience and focus required, followed by those crucial moments.
None of their other keepers have this experience and Butland is as good a shotstopper as any of them.

Dunno if you’re fishing bar but I’m going to bite and say him not winning us games is a poor take imo. Think there’s a bit of recency bias there think back to Beale ball and how good he was. Then even recently you’ve got the save he made against Killie to stop us going 2-0 down. Can remember a few 1 v 1s he’s bailed us out of as well.

Well bar what has ramsdale done to get a spot he’s been largely inactive all season and when called upon messes up - Butland has been consistent with playing and performances all season plus had European football so I think he’s done more than enough for a call up .

He has been great for us but didn’t ever think he would get called up for there team. It was only rangers fans saying he should be called up no one else. Also rangers fans are biased also and will see he is better than the rest. I ain’t a fan of Pickford but Southgate loves him. He couldn’t get a game in epl either.

We play in a Mickey Mouse league with top level euro games against serviette aris Prague in the main.
Whether we like it or not these goalies play Man U Man City Liverpool arsenal Spurs Chelsea imo better than up here.

Yep, a bit of banter to start debate, bottom line as stated, our league doesn't get a look in, Southgate sticks to tried and tested?, and yes as John says, these other guys are facing top opposition most weeks in the EPL.
JB, will have to prove himself back down there if that's his dream, unfortunately.
