21 Dec 2024 19:03:35
Scouted mckenzie and Ballard again today.
21 Dec 2024 19:19:26
Ballard scored a nice header today John.
21 Dec 2024 19:26:02
Hopefully we can get Ballard looks a player but fear he will have other teams looking at him and maybe price us out a move for him he scored a goal and got Man of the Match today for Sunderland.
21 Dec 2024 19:37:26
I doubt we could get Ballard John, he signed a new contract with Sunderland during the summer which could, potentially, price us out.
21 Dec 2024 20:12:59
Hope i'm wrong but i honestly don't hold any hope at all that we'll be able to sign daniel ballard ☹️.
21 Dec 2024 20:41:30
I can’t see us signing Ballard. First team regular at Sunderland and every chance of playing in the premier league next season. No incentive to come to us.
21 Dec 2024 20:43:49
Strange that we are scouting someone we won’t be able to get, I don’t know anything about the boy.
21 Dec 2024 20:43:52
We possibly could but he'll cost upwards of 5m, but his wage is over 20k cheaper weekly than Goldson was getting, only 25 i see that as young for a cb and is a very good cb right now and we could only make money on him, him and Souttar would be a cracking partnership for us.
21 Dec 2024 20:47:17
Walter, why r we scouting him then, he has also indicated that he would be very interested….
21 Dec 2024 21:08:27
What we may be doing is spend big on a fee with the exception we can sell for more than double in 2 years?
21 Dec 2024 22:07:14
Anyone on form in the championship isn't joining us for £5m when he has 4 years left on his deal. Absolute waste trying to scout him.
21 Dec 2024 23:31:06
Florida Bear, competing for trophies and competing in European competition with more coverage. Seems plenty of incentive to me.
21 Dec 2024 23:54:07
I don't know why we're scouting ballard John i don't know mate but imo we wouldn't be able to afford him, think about what he'd cost us ?.
22 Dec 2024 05:30:49
Be a smarter move to go after Jenson Seelt Former PSV Eindhoven youth only 21 taller than Ballard, and would be a lot cheaper, fits our player trading model better, Well known to Koppen, if he can regain full fitness and form, we could get him for a round 1.5 to 2 mill.
Should we be buying more CB's when we haven't even seen Nsiala play a 1st team match yet.
22 Dec 2024 07:46:15
Well davie Cifuentes. Easily pay for Ballard and better than the 45 k a eeek we pay them.
22 Dec 2024 07:51:46
If and just a big if. We have any cash what so ever I would love us too push boat out n go for
lennon Miller
1 great player
2 future captain material
3 Amazing partner for barron
4 sell on value will increase
I know lot of money but him barron n raskin in the middle would be amazing, plus all young n hungry
N all together would be a great midfield.
22 Dec 2024 08:35:31
Good info John.
Have asked around on Ballard, for those that think we're wasting our time - think again.
Hearing some pretty promising feedback on Mackenzie.
22 Dec 2024 08:39:10
Laudrup what has taller got to do with anything.
22 Dec 2024 08:59:24
Was wondering that myself John.
22 Dec 2024 09:00:20
Ballard would be a top signing for us and just hope this happens.
22 Dec 2024 09:29:50
Bluedreamer, I can't see us spending money for Miller, especially as he's a player who probably wouldn't start.
Also Barron has to get back in the team before someone can be his midfield partner.
22 Dec 2024 09:51:00
All great stuff lads, but does anyone really think we have 5mill + to spend?
22 Dec 2024 10:22:01
Rangers are not signing ballard. Cost too much. Plus he might be on 13k a week now, but he won't be looking for 13k a week at us. Hell be looking for double that, especially with prem teams interested. And hell get it. Move on.
22 Dec 2024 10:24:17
Laudruphafi, we don't have a player trading model what you on about.
22 Dec 2024 10:25:10
BAR the fee isn't paid all up front so we might not need £5M. but those who have an opinion that we can't afford him just ask yourselves why we would even bother scouting someone for a period of time without knowing there is a chance we can get them. we would know his ballpark fee and would know we couldn't afford it surely and have our scouts looking for players we can get. it isn't a newspaper article is is someone, in fact two people, on here that seem to have a route to inside knowledge.
thanks John and EHL for the info and insight.
22 Dec 2024 10:54:42
We spent approx 4m on dessers, dio, cortes etc. The defence needs strengthened badly so that will be an area money is spent.
22 Dec 2024 11:04:07
John great info, my same source as last time about Barron indicates McKenzie very interested in joining rangers but wouldn’t move until end of season.
22 Dec 2024 11:05:25
LaudrupHagi, Nsiala is a 20 year old, soon to be 21, who has never played a competitive minute of first team football
I'd say it's 60/ 40 that he makes the cut - so we should absolutely be looking at alternatives - especially given the fitness concerns of Souttar, Balogun and Sterling.
22 Dec 2024 11:06:46
In the summer, like any other window, ee will have a budget to play with.
Now if NK and PC decide they can get value for money in most positions like free transfers and £2m signings so that they can go spend £5-6m on a centre back for example then that’s what they’ll do.
Just cause we don’t have a lot to spend doesn’t mean we can’t spend it in one or 2 players and get others in for pennies. M
Also, fif my think dio will still be here next season if he keeps performing like the last month or so, I’d expect him to go for around £10m us % and I’d be happy with that. Miller could be brought in for £4-5m to replace him and do same again In Few year with him.
22 Dec 2024 11:07:50
The fact we are even interested in players like Ballard suggests we DO have a plan. As all stated he won’t come cheap, but could be a player who slots straight in and can be improved and sold later profitably.
For me I think there’s a good chance we raise both capital and salaries by moving on SOME of Dessers, Cifuentes (now or summer), Dowell, King and quite possibly Hagi (as well as he’s plays now, be churlish to walk from a good offer)
22 Dec 2024 11:16:52
Given Rangers finances I think other clubs might demand most fees up front. The manager was talking about admin just a few months ago, there was an issue paying Hagi's wages, and the club announced massive losses at the AGM.
Thinking this club can get £5m players without paying much up front might be wrong. Also, why would the club want to get into that much future debt? The club are already obligated to pay £4m next summer for Cortes. Are they really going to take on more multi-million pound deals in the January that will need serviced over the summer months?
Come the summer there will be little left to spend and most of you will be demanding big changes to the squad. Especially is Celtic win another treble.
22 Dec 2024 11:20:36
Mj88rfc, think I'd rather listen for info from someone who actually works in the big hoose tbh, in the process of setting up a trading model also, what team are you following, cause your not paying attention at ibrox.
22 Dec 2024 11:31:18
CHOF - seen the feeling of 4 - 4.5m banded about for Cores a few times now - which isn't quite accurate.
I think it was John who pointed out last week that there are various ways to report on transfers and fees.
The overall feeling that we will pay for Cortes, that has been quoted, includes 2 loan fees (already paid) and any guaranteed future payments.
Reality is that at the end of the season we will pay significantly less than the overall fee that's been quoted.
Dio deal was similar.
22 Dec 2024 11:55:13
The championship is a better league than ours and players are on more money in this league. We lost our top target (Cordoba) during the summer to this league once touring him around Ibrox. There’s not a chance we sign Ballard IMO ??.
22 Dec 2024 12:07:04
Clement has one,
When did the manager talk about administration? Think your talking nonsense pal.
22 Dec 2024 12:50:04
"Nsiala is a 20 year old"
A 20 year old that left AC Milan to come to Glasgow for a reason. That reason was not to sit in the reserves, he could be doing that in Italy.
I suspect Nsiala had hopes of first team football, or was made promises to that effect. Why else would he come to Glasgow? If he's just going to rot in the youth academy then he needs to get out ASAP just like Bailey Rice and a whole host of others.
22 Dec 2024 12:52:41
"When did the manager talk about administration? "
You don't need me to answer that. Simply google it. The manager said the fans do not want the club to go into administration again. The very fact he said that must mean admin is a possibility. If it is not a possibility why on Earth would he say it?
22 Dec 2024 12:53:39
The difference is Florida Bear Ballard is a Rangers fan so he may be keen on coming but it all comes down to finances and if we can come to a deal with Southampton.
22 Dec 2024 12:54:39
If we scouted McKenzie yesterday we won`t be signing him based on that performance. Repeatedly caught out of position and culpable at two of Hibs goals . He would get slaughtered if he did that playing for us.
22 Dec 2024 12:55:35
CHOF you seem to be able to pick things and then put them in the wrong argument to prove the point you want to make. When we went bust the SFA insisted that all football debts were paid by the buying party. we have never reneged on a fee and with our support we will always be a going concern that someone wants to buy. we bought Dio in January I think and had to pay in summer so if we can get the right player at the 'wrong' time then I think we will. The issue with Hagi's wages were we were trying to cut the well paid players out of our squad so why would we give an increase to someone who didn't want to be here (at that time according to his agent; don't want to start that all up again) .
how about we have a £5million budget and it goes on Ballard and we pick up other on OOC, frees and Loans. does that work for you.
22 Dec 2024 12:57:17
Sorry my bad lol Sunderland.
22 Dec 2024 13:03:50
EHL,
I'll wait and see what the account have to say about the Cortes transfer fee. Much is said about transfer fees on here, and much of it does not tie in with the published accounts. Who on here said Rangers were letting 5 players go last summer (including Lammers) for £800k? What Rangers pay players, and sell players for, is always a bit mental and not what you would normally expect.
I would also say that my point still stand with regards to getting in to debt, and borrowing based on future incomes. I don't believe this club should be doing that because it was a disaster for us in the past. Then again, Rangers are a club that don't seem to learn from mistakes.
I'm sure many on here would love to see the club go and spend millions in January with a view to paying the fees later down the line - I don't. I sat in Ibrox when we were in division three and I don't want to do it ever again. I want this club to live within its means and spend only the money it has. Any future money should be reserved in case we end up changing manager who might want to sign their own players. Instead of being obligated to buy the players signed by a previous coach.
22 Dec 2024 13:05:10
CHOF - if he doesn't want to sit in the reserves, then it's on him to show he has what it takes to play in the first team.
Club had plans of introducing him to the first team post January, however he initially fell behind and that was looking unlikely - however he's started to show signs of progression recently, so we may get to see him after all.
As for Bailey Rice, he will not make it at Rangers - that's due to no fault of the academy or the players effort/ commitment.
22 Dec 2024 13:58:10
Jason, its sunderland he's at, not southampton.
22 Dec 2024 14:47:53
CHOF - out of interest what do you think the accounts will tell you about the Cortes deal?
I also went to watch us in the lower divisions - even had the privilege of playing against us on a few occasions - including getting a point at Ibrox which was a weird experience.
Most football debt is financed nowadays in order to ensure clubs have better control over cashflow - that's why we see way more loan to buys.
If you are genuinely interested in football finance I'd recommend listening to or following Kieran Maguire, he has some great insight and a brilliant way of breaking down the complexity of football finance.
{Ed001's Note - SwissRamble is good on twitter as well.}
22 Dec 2024 16:07:56
Ed I was reading Swiss Ramble the other day, discussing the Dani Olmo signing and how Barcelona have to meet certain financial obligations otherwise he won't be permitted to play for them in the second half of the season. Bonkers.
{Ed001's Note - Barca are an absolute mess.}
22 dec 2024 16:39:59
ehl, this chof guy is an imposter, formerly known ad verdant abyss, , the strangest name fir a rangers fan you could ever find,
22 Dec 2024 17:01:58
I have suspected the exact same thing for a couple weeks as well now tomthumb.
22 Dec 2024 17:26:31
I agree with TT about CHOF don’t know who he use to be but he is an imposter do not waste your time with him ehl.
22 Dec 2024 18:21:45
I also agree with Tom. CHOF Hasn't a good thing to post about the club.
22 Dec 2024 18:41:20
CHOF, could it mean "Chooses Hate Over Fact" just saying? or "Causes Havoc Over Falsehoods" sorry to much time on my hands? I'll get my jaicket.
22 Dec 2024 18:41:33
EHL whenever I see his name I just scroll past. Total imposter.
22 Dec 2024 18:42:42
I wasn’t sure if it was Coldo again? Do we think it’s Beale again? Surely not, no body could be that much of a loser?
22 Dec 2024 19:05:31
Noted! Thanks for the heads up.
22 Dec 2024 20:10:33
Not Coldo, but vaguely reminiscent of a previous poster using others' quotes, then being a numpty about said quote. Tom has an inkling it's verdant, kind of with him on this.
22 Dec 2024 20:32:03
I could well be verdant fork.
22 Dec 2024 21:51:25
So he wanted Beale to stay and Clement sacked that only looks like a bit of worry from a tim.
23 Dec 2024 04:57:04
Fork. Celtic half old firm.
23 Dec 2024 06:43:42
Usually when something isn't right the guys on here find it?.
23 Dec 2024 10:33:17
Iv watched Mckenzie on several occasions and would rather see Robbie fraser get his chance, ballard looks a good player but genuinely don't think we have the type of money needed to buy him.
23 Dec 2024 09:32:31
Can't be Coldo, he hasn't mentioned Kent or Morelos yet?.
23 Dec 2024 12:17:36
One Walter what in your opinion is the type of money required to sign Ballard.
23 Dec 2024 09:32:31
Can't be Coldo, he hasn't mentioned Kent or Morelos yet?.
26 Dec 2024 04:14:25
My star in the sky - my post was in reference to your post saying we need some taller Centre halfs - you'll claim you never said that though lol.
Like the time you said it would cost 2 mill for a free transfer, but that was another poster LMFAO donkey.
26 Dec 2024 04:16:30
Mark at least we could beat Celtic with Kent and Morelos, Clements the first Rangers manager to lose 6 in a row to Celtic since the start of his tenure.
26 Dec 2024 06:06:21
Clement officially has the worst Old Firm record since 1914 .
The last time Rangers went six Old Firm games without a win was under William Walton from 1912 to 1914.
