See Keith Jackson opining that BF should get a shot at the gig on a 12months rolling contract, as 49ers will have loads to sort out when the takeover happens, thoughts guys and I know a lot aren't fond of jacksons opinions?.
04 Apr 2025 09:33:59
First off, Jackass is a b@wb@g!
Ferguson has a lot to prove before he is even touted for the job full time.
Yes, we've beat Celtic. Yes, we are in the last 8 of the Europa League.
But other results from a tactical point of view haven't been pretty.
The players are fighting to the death which is great to see - but that should be a given for any professional and especially those at a club with the stature and expectations of Rangers.
They shouldn't need ex-pros to gee them up.
The Bilbao tie and next OF game might define his Rangers management career though.
04 Apr 2025 09:43:38
Keith has been reading my posts ??.
04 Apr 2025 09:43:42
I think it would be a huge mistake giving Barry the job on a permanent basis.
04 Apr 2025 10:31:12
Agree with MPH, loving the passion but we have been all over the place at the back. Going goals behind early, loading at home, loosing the second leg in Europe.
He deserves credit for going to the next round and winnning at parkhead however.
04 Apr 2025 10:39:42
Agreed Mark44, his results although, with a bit of fight (in 2nd half mainly) are no better than that of PC, you could argue we got lucky in a few games.
We need to move onward and upward and for me that doesn't include BF, who is living the dream just now.
04 Apr 2025 10:43:42
A lot of shouts last night on ss on Clyde one for the lads to get the job and 1 year rolling deal was the consensus. I'd go for that idea aswell.
May well keep the ship steady through the process and allow for everything to be assessed within the club as a whole, they may then earn the job.
04 Apr 2025 11:12:12
Seen more tactics and changes from BF and management team than from Clemont full time here to be fair, not saying he's the answer but a year rolling contract if he continues to get something out team might not be end of the world.
04 Apr 2025 11:54:35
BF has got us to the 1/ 4 finals of EL, and he managed to do what the 3 previous managers couldn't, and beat the tims at the midden, but it's still a NO from me.
There are glaring inadequacies in his set up, but some of his results are hard to argue against.
04 Apr 2025 12:45:40
Jacksons an ass, he says that the new owners will have 99 problems to deal with so they should leave Barry in charge as that would be one less, but first of all that's a bad reason to leave an unproven manager in charge and secondly from the outside looking in the team is the biggest problem at Ibrox at the moment, fix that and you get access to more finances to help all aspects of the club . Not criticising Barry at all but he has two great performances in Turkey and at the piggery and a couple of great comeback results but for me it will take a long unbeaten run in the league between now and the end of the season to really put him in the frame OR the takeover to fall through.
04 Apr 2025 12:46:49
It's a no from me but as has been previously stated a one year rolling contract wouldn't be the end of the world.
But, the new operators will know now who they want. And BF will only be added to the mix to placate. It takes more than chest thumping in this game. It takes a bit of tactical nous.
We have carried a bit of luck. We have punched above our weight and sadly I say it may come to roost next Thursday.
Aside; I wouldn't have McGregor their either. Smacks of old pals act. Natural shot stopper who wouldn't come for crosses. Coach? Not for me. Not qualified either. Him and Butland can go too. But I digress.
04 Apr 2025 13:52:47
Who's to say Barry won't want to move on half the players he might think they are not good enough. People are judging him on a mess of a squad he inherited with no transfer windows.
McCall was another one who didn't get a fair shot in my eyes again took over a bit of a mess and was expected to beat Motherwell over two legs when same team couldn't beat hearts over the season in lower division. Talk about unfair.
Also people keep going on about experience but did Barry, Neil and Dodds not have more experience when they took over than Walter, souness, Gerrard?
04 Apr 2025 13:57:29
I think that would be a stupid idea, it's like saying we aren't really sure on this guy so give him a year to see how it pans out, instead of saying give it to whoever it may be on a 4/ 5 year deal that we are confident of. We don't have time for things like this, while that lot win title after title. BTW fork i know it wasn't your idea, just passing on what you heard ?.
04 Apr 2025 14:50:33
B F has failed at smaller clubs than Rangers . Beating a Celtic team who for all intents and purposes had league won was no great feat .
I have no doubt Celtic club and fans will be delighted to have B F the next full time manager. He simply isn't good enough.
04 Apr 2025 15:49:03
Can't believe I'm still seeing and reading stuff regarding him getting the job full time, yes he has had a couple of decent results against bigger teams but none of those were convincing. Fenerbache away flattered us as did the tims result (not that they weren't brilliant results) all the other dross he has had to face has resulted in us struggling and shipping even more goals even though he has switched to 3 CHs.
Listen it's great having Rangers men in the background helping players etc but we need a seasoned head coach with a good record to start us off on the front foot once this takeover is complete. Don't think they will be looking for the cheapest appointment.
04 Apr 2025 16:40:18
Only way BF has a chance of getting full time job is winning Europa league.
04 Apr 2025 16:54:28
Everyone does realise that 2 of our last 3 coaches were experienced and seasoned managers and look how that ended up. chances are any new manager won't get the league or the club. not advocating appointing BF but who is to say he would be any worse than any other manager when we make additions to the squad we have.
04 Apr 2025 17:07:31
And still they come. Disturb lot they are.
04 Apr 2025 17:23:39
BF and coaching team will be properly assessed at end of season along with other possibly more suitable candidates. So when all is said and done then 49rs group will make an informed decision and that is my gut feeling on this matter ?.
04 Apr 2025 17:40:42
White horse 2, someone is extracting bodily liquids, horsey defend yourself.
04 Apr 2025 17:52:46
Absolutely not.
We are not in a place to afford sentimentality.
04 Apr 2025 18:29:23
Here's hoping Barry can win his first home game tomorrow.
U r correct east enclosure,
04 Apr 2025 19:58:37
I actually wouldn't mind our next manager to be on a 12 month rolling contract.
04 Apr 2025 20:43:42
Yourspex sorry but you don't really know he's not good enough none of us do yet
Look i wasn't for ferguson coming in but he deserves our support i'm a bit dissapointed we could miss out on a new manager bounce for start of season but if it ends up looking like its working by end of season then why not keep him on.
But at least we wait and see how reat of season goes before we judge him most are already saying yhat they don't think we would have got these results with clement so for me that says people are leaning towards him staying.
04 Apr 2025 20:46:36
Thats nonsense storm
So say he makes final loses
Beats Celtic has okish rwts of season that's not good enough
Really?
With no transfer window and a squad that half of them know they are leaving
I think varry has done pretth good so far
Did i think he was going to be answer no
So i think he's answer now prob not but i'm willing tk give him a fair crack at it
Surely its least we owe him after all effort he's given our club over years.
04 Apr 2025 20:51:11
Lol its like the foreign player thing in our league i just don't get it
All teams played a lot more scottish players and developed thier own youth to sell but got pumped by rangers/ Celtic and in europe.
they all switch to mostly foreign more expensive players and still get pumped by rangers/ Celtic and teams in europe but no longer have good youth assets to sell it seems like madness to me.
04 Apr 2025 20:52:38
Think barry needs to win home game badly and stop thia bad run at home although fnerbache was good outcome overall it was still a defeat at home.
05 Apr 2025 01:33:25
No manager has been given the Rangers job with as poor a managerial record as Barry Ferguson . We would be better appointing a complete rookie rather than appoint a manager who has failed as a manager despite been given 3-4 opportunities to manage small clubs.
05 Apr 2025 08:43:52
Yoursperx, i don't agree with your assumption that because barry ferguson has only managed smaller clubs with very limited facilities and trying to introduce full time big club methods into run of the mill players at part time clubs, that he wouldn't be a success as Rangers manager with working with much better players and better facilities and at a big club mentality he's very much used to ?Tell me what could even jose mourinho do if he was manager of kelty, clyde and alloa mate ? The floor is yours explain?.
05 Apr 2025 09:15:09
Other results from a tactical view were not pretty and ended in defeats under Clement. We are winning these games under Barry and beating Celtic, which means we would be challenging for the title.
05 Apr 2025 11:30:43
Forever you are entitled to your opinion, you can say it's rubbish that's fine.
99% of your posts are utter drivel that's my opinion ?.
