Getting him off the books now would save on paying him final 2 years salary which I believe is close to £1.5m per year so there's £3m freed up before any fee comes into the equation. We'll take a hit on him whatever happens and the guy is never going to come good.

Thanks John. That does sound quite risky. I would be guessing a fee of between £2 to £3 million, which would be a substantial loss, but it just hasn't worked out. He's been very unfortunate with injuries and doesn't look like the same player that we signed. I'm not overly convinced the physical nature of our league suits him.
Any idea who we would look to bring in to replace him if he does go?

Waiting until after the Porto game doesn't mean we won't go identify a replacement and have everything negotiated and the player ready to fly over.
We play Porto next week so it's not that long a wait.

In many ways its riskier not to wait. As much as we all want to see outgoings we cannot make any changes to the Europa League squad. We may not be able to qualify but can still bank a couple of wins for our team coefficient not to mention prize money for each win.
