We have accepted an offer from Birmingham for Ben Davies. Fee is under 1 million.

29 Jul 2025 16:38:36
Fair play. Just needs to be gone.

29 Jul 2025 16:43:17
Good. Not as much as I thought but I suppose with the amount of players we have and don't need/ want then something is better than nothing. Owners obviously happy for this to go forward if true.

29 Jul 2025 16:47:18
True low fee but he was on approx 1.5 million in wages. We need these wages out of the club.

29 Jul 2025 16:59:25
Hope so, please.

29 Jul 2025 17:00:09
And we paid what 3.5

Sorry but longer contract than souttar and left sided i'd sell souttar keep davies play him and get value up tell birmingham to get lost.

29 Jul 2025 17:07:06
For me, just getting him off the wage bill is massive and allows us to reinvest.
I see any fee as a bonus.

29 Jul 2025 17:16:17
Correct John and Ibrox4me.
Transfer fees tell a minimal part of the story. There are around 6 players I would let go for a nominal fee.

29 Jul 2025 17:19:11
1.2m wages saved for the next 10 months, doubt he ever met any of his add ons.

would likely leave 750k as the break even fee on the books.

board clearly just want rid of the dross.

29 Jul 2025 17:25:55
Unlikely to get a better offer.

29 Jul 2025 17:27:50
Ach well, played well at Birmingham last season, good deal for them I suppose.

29 Jul 2025 17:31:48
Wish the guy all the best. whoever gave him that kind of money in the first place was slightly misguided.

29 Jul 2025 17:39:30
All the best to him, lacked the physicality but can't fault his professionalism and effort despite his personal circumstances.

29 Jul 2025 17:49:53
Agree he needs gone to free up wages but fee under a million is a rip off, considering birmingham were saying what a great player he was when on loan.

29 Jul 2025 17:52:23
750, 000 by looks of it, fair enough a lot of players needed to get put out and hard to get money for, always thought it was pie in sky some wanting 3m for him, wages will be the big saver on these players and will be lucky to receive any transfer fee.

29 Jul 2025 18:14:15
Good news for all concerned. ?.

29 Jul 2025 18:23:00
I don't think he actually done much wrong as a player, thought was decent. But for whatever reason def best to move on for both parties.

29 Jul 2025 18:37:08
We paid 3.5 or so did we not ooft well at least wages gone as john said.

He could have maybe done a decent job left cb and sell souttar if he has less time on deal

Any news on souttar deal i think he's definitely offski but just opinion.

29 Jul 2025 18:45:00
If we add that to his saved wages between now and end of contract it's around £2m or just over so it's a good deal for us.

29 Jul 2025 19:10:25
If it was £3.5 M then 3 years written off on amortisation equals £2.6M so just under £900k left on the books so reckon we would break even. by doing that we don't affect the revenue figures (net zero) which allows us to spend. and wages of books which shows as a plus on operational costs.

29 Jul 2025 19:28:21
Now use that 750k to pay off matondo ?.

29 Jul 2025 19:46:41
Forever we need to get rid and what we paid is irrelevant as we don't want him anymore and he only worth what someone willing to pay.

29 Jul 2025 19:54:38
Im sure we paid 3m for him with 1m in add ons which are extremely unlikely to be met.

would mean 750k per season over 4 seasons, 1 left.

29 Jul 2025 20:11:02
Great news, if it's Birmingham I think there's a good chance they'll give him a wage that he accepts, and he'll be happy to move there. Fingers crossed!

29 Jul 2025 20:27:30
How much were Volendam looking for to sell Mbuyamba? 750k not to be sniffed at. The main thing is to get Ben doon the M6 and off the wage bill.

29 Jul 2025 20:39:23
Correct Asathor
A nominal fee for the players we're trying to move kn at this stage of their careers with Rangers would be excellent business would rather be receiving a nominal fee than paying contracts off so they can move on.

29 Jul 2025 21:08:09
Ooft Angus ?, had to look that one up "amortisation"
Trying to think how I can get it into a conversation tomorrow. ??.

29 Jul 2025 21:33:21
Angus. You using the ai tools for yer posts ??. Very articulate.

29 Jul 2025 22:02:28
I'd be selling Cifuentes for a similar fee but large % of next transfer.

29 Jul 2025 22:38:08
Its never irrelevant storm do you not remember our trip down the leagues?

The bill is always due eventually simple fact is that we can keep buying high and selling low

Its idiotic to think otherwise.

29 Jul 2025 22:39:59
Mystar even that would be a better think why no sell on percentage in davies deal if we are selling so low

Norwich made us pay more for cantwell with only 6month on his deal as far as i see player sales is buisiness as usual and that's a bad thing

At least a bit smarter on younger guys coming in.

12th man I don't use AI; I prefer RI (real intelligence) . there are a few bloggers who seem to know about this stuff so I use their posts to try to explain the issues. I don't fully understand it especially the bit about how you pay the transfer fee in instalments and the amortisation (just depreciation really, think of it as your car) and how that affects FFP/ FSR.
