Rumour flying around that ESPN have reported insider states "there is nothing in the Rangers takeover"

Anyone have anything on this? What about the lads with connections inside Ibrox, heard anything?

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Apr 2025 08:04:37
Too far along now i'd have thought for that kind of rumour to be true.

02 Apr 2025 08:05:32
It's nonsense.

That's a headline from a Celtic fanzine.

If you read what Jed York actually said, he doesn't mention anything to do with us.

Theyre getting nervous about it, that's all.

02 Apr 2025 08:14:43
I'm hoping the deal will be finalised by the end of this month.
Celtic are desperate for this takeover to collapse.

02 Apr 2025 08:14:50
Dont have connections but can read Google. it appears a Celtic fan website is saying an ESPN interview with the owner of the 49ers (the sports team) in response to questions on the Rangers deal taking away funds form the sports tea and is saying that the link isn't with them which it isn't. it is with the 49ers enterprises and who also bought Leeds but they are the investment arm of the 49ers group. he mentions shared branding etc with the sports team so the Celtic fans have jumped on it as being a downgrade and no war chest will be available and it is just a shared branding exercise. a grasping at straws moment I think.

02 Apr 2025 08:17:51
On course for they end of this month apparently, read that the other day and John confirmed a shift forward re share transfers to purchaser, backed up in the record. As Asa says ignore the noise. ??.

02 Apr 2025 08:58:40
Posted in response to Johns thread bellow, that I heard this morning that the 49ers had now verbally agreed the purchase of just short of two thirds of shares - and are close to having written agreement to purchase the 51% - so it's the opposite as in it's closer than most would have expected at this stage.

Additionally the DoSO is done and the club has been working in the background to produce a short list of 2 managers - however given recent events this has been expanded to 3.

All very exciting.

02 Apr 2025 09:39:45
I can add with great certainty that the takeover is nearing the final stages.

This is exciting times to be a Rangers fan, it's time to embrace it.

02 Apr 2025 09:44:46
EHL are we going down the former player route for the SD? Would much rather we aimed for the best available. Believe Mr Ashworth is still without a club for example.

02 Apr 2025 09:53:45
Just Celtic media trying to wish this takeover into not happening. Those lot would be happy to have no competition at all.

Good to hear EHL, could be hearing by the end of the season by all accounts. Hopefully that's the case as we have to hit this summer running and quick regarding manager/ playing staff etc.

02 Apr 2025 10:15:32
Recent event re marco rose now unemployed.

02 Apr 2025 10:29:46
Couple of questions and apologies if they are daft.

I understand 51% gives the consortium a majority and that they've verbally agreed to purchase 2 thirds. Are they wanting to buy outright or are there some current shareholders simply unwilling to sell?
Or is this just step 1 of an overall takeover similar to Leeds where they buy and percentage then gradually increase in a staggered approach?

Trying to get my head around why some shareholders would look to sit tight with their shares if they will have minimal to no input/ influence on the business.

02 Apr 2025 10:56:17
True blue the big hitters r selling majority of their individual stake.

Guys like Sws who states he is a shareholder like many of us on here will hold small shares to just have some and allows attendance at agm,
I'd be surprised if 1872 sold as they think they are important.

02 Apr 2025 11:29:25
Suspect the gradual approach True Blue.

02 Apr 2025 11:43:59
It's happening bhoys! Embrace it, drink it in!

02 Apr 2025 11:53:07
Parks will hold out needing to keep tie blazers and free seats just like the Celtic grifters did when they went paps up.

02 Apr 2025 12:12:29
Those with a smaller amount of shares might not want to sell until the takeover is complete as value of the club will most likely increase which will in turn increase the value of their shares.

02 Apr 2025 12:15:07
Recent events to me means Barry's impressed with his results.

02 Apr 2025 12:39:07
People will still want to be part of the club and have shares like fans etc…. Trueblue.

02 Apr 2025 12:41:22
I suspect the remaining shareholders. Namely Stavros Flatley will hold onto theirs until we are doing better and share price goes up and then they will sell at a premium.

02 Apr 2025 12:51:36
Most of the current shareholders have pretty much no input on the way the business is run so if they hold on to their shares its no change for them . some will be fans who are just happy and proud to be share holders . I used to have a few shares and wouldn't have sold them .

02 Apr 2025 13:14:37
Probably hoping that once the takeover is complete the share price will increase.

02 Apr 2025 13:24:27
Think it could mean Ferguson Paul.

02 Apr 2025 13:35:43
The truth is by end of month or early May takeover should be done.
Git to laugh at Pacific Shelf they are in a series flap and on their knees praying that all this falls through but the funny thing is and I can't stop laughing is while they panic about our takeover Hubs and Hearts are also going to have series investment coming their way also from you guessed it American investors.

02 Apr 2025 14:06:46
EHL, obviously i don't know who the 2 manager's are that the new owners have shortlisted mate but i would imagine with you saying it's now shortlisted to 3 manager's after recent events, then i'd hazard a guess the now added 3rd shortlisted manager is Marco Rose ?I wonder who the other 2 are ?.

02 Apr 2025 14:19:12
EHL, do you know any of the names for the manager? I imagine that the 3rd would now be Ferguson - he wouldn't be my choice as I don't think he's got it tactically but wouldn't be too unhappy.

I'd love either Muscat or Knutsen but with the way football is changing, Rydtröm of Malmo could be a good choice. Like others have said, exciting times ahead!

02 Apr 2025 14:24:04
G Dog, go and find the article and read it. Time spent on research is seldom wasted.

02 Apr 2025 14:44:47
I'm not financial expert, however as far as I'm aware once the 49ers complete the transactions that take them over a specific % they are obligated to make an offer on all other remaining Shares.

I don't officially know the manager names, however there are some fairly consistent rumours. Two out of the three are pretty exciting.

02 Apr 2025 14:51:03
Has the rules of takeovers changed, i thought that once you have agreement to buy a certain percent of shares they you are legally obligated to offer to buy all remaining shares at the same value you purchased the controlling amount.

02 Apr 2025 14:56:17
Seeker, love it!

02 Apr 2025 15:25:56
It's not just Hail Hail it's also a Rangers blog, ESPN as well as a Leeds local rag!

Quoting Jed York

Article-
The man at the very top of the San Francisco 49ers has insisted there has been no movement regarding talk of a takeover of Rangers and says whatever financial plans the company has, they won't overlap and impact on Leeds United. Jed York is the CEO of the San Francisco 49ers and co-owner and board member of Leeds United, with his parents owning the 49ers franchise.

It could be mischief and I'm sure this would be a major story if there was truth in it.

The sooner the better lads!

RTID ????.

02 Apr 2025 16:44:01
3 x potential manager candidates. EHL is excited over two. Barry has inched in. how could you just discount before Europe. EHL will not be excited over Barry so I'm really intrigued who he's excited about. I may have to review my thoughts. Exciting times!

02 Apr 2025 17:16:25
Whilst a company are obligated no one has to take the offer, Park HAS agreed to sell.

02 Apr 2025 17:31:30
If one person or those acting in consort to run the club reach 30% then they are obliged to make an ofer to all the remaining shareholders but they are not required to accept. Only if the buyer gets over 90% in value and voting rights is the purchase made compulsory. At over 30% the price offered must not be lower than the highest price shares have sold for in the previous 12 months.

02 Apr 2025 17:41:51
John25 I imagine some will hold on to there shares as if the new owners turn the club around they could get more per share in the future.

02 Apr 2025 18:49:59
Who is stavros flatley.

02 Apr 2025 20:24:22
Daddy Park n his boy google the name you'll see why.

03 Apr 2025 00:12:45
?? thanks fork. I thought the joke might be lost on some.
