I'm interested to hear thoughts on Mikel Arteta? I've always wished ex Rangers to do well wherever they go and Arsenal were always a team I'd like to see doing well, however I can't stand Arteta these days and seriously hope Arsenal don't win anything this season.

I can't stand the guy. Everything about him and the way he acts.

It's the same with a lot of Premier League managers for me, Slot, Pep, Arteta and Klopp are/were always winging about something. I, however, quite like Pep and Klopp, but there is something about Arteta I am not a fan of, and subsequently do not want Arsenal to win the league also.

Dadab - I like to see Ex-Gers players do well most of the time.

Arteta seems to rub a lot of people up the wrong way. I don't know why.

I don't see much English football, so maybe I'm missing something with him.

I'm rooting for him.

Hope he wins. He has built that team, and I would love to see it win.

It's what happens to a lot of managers at big clubs who are under pressure to be successful. ? I wish our former midfielder Mikel Arteta well, and hope he can win the league with Arsenal. ? Although my team in England is Newcastle Utd, I have always had a soft spot for Jurgen Klopp. I have always rated and liked him. ?

Didn't realise we made a big loss in regards to the transfer fee for Arteta, purchased for 6m, sold for 2.5m. That was a lot of money back then, seems strange considering his stock was rising.

19 Feb 2026 08:32:56
It wasn't £2.5m, it was around £4.5m. Still a loss, mind.

19 Feb 2026 09:03:41
I liked him as a player. We always played him wide, as Ferguson played him centrally. We had also won nothing the year before, so I think there was a bit of book balancing going on, and we normally are held over a barrel when clubs know that.

I also read him say he wanted to leave for personal reasons, something about his parents going through hard times.

19 Feb 2026 09:07:34
Yep, an ex player who played his part with a cool pen against Dunfermline in the 2003 title win. I'm rooting for Mikel and Arsenal. I have always had a soft spot for them due to their Rangers connection. And my daughter loves them. What's not to like?

19 Feb 2026 10:01:37
London Celtic bottling it! Long may it continue, Arteta has done relatively well for us in his short spell, but he's not my cup of tea. He does some amount of crying when it doesn't go his way, which only fuels that delusional fan base.

19 Feb 2026 10:03:20
Always remember Arteta's cool penalty that won the title and made Sutton implode, calling Dunfermline cheats, even though Celtic had easily beaten Kilmarnock 4-0.
And I'm sure they had a couple of penalties, missing one as well. ?

19 Feb 2026 10:06:53
He said he was homesick, and that's why he left, and I am sure he was back in the EPL with Everton within 12 months, though that could be wrong.

I liked him as a player, but just can't go him as a manager. I hope anyone wins it but Arsenal.

19 Feb 2026 10:30:15
Something is off with the Prem. Part of me thinks it could be match-fixing or maybe players betting and not trying, etc.

Watched a fair few games and it just seems off to me.

19 Feb 2026 10:46:23
He needs to win it this season. Strongest squad in the league, imo. I liked him as a player, not so much as a manager. Truth be told, he gets on my nerves regularly with the things that leave his mouth.

19 Feb 2026 10:54:06
As much as I liked Arteta as a player, his arrogance as a manager makes me want him to lose. Also, I've never liked Arsenal, so watching them Hibs it year after year is entertaining, to say the least. I would love to see a team like Villa win the league, but, let's be honest, it will be Mercenary City who will win it.

19 Feb 2026 10:55:08
Lmac, why are they called London Celtic? Can you explain, as I live in London and have never heard that in my life.

19 Feb 2026 10:59:47
Love Arteta.

Once a Ranger.

Hope he runs away with it.

19 Feb 2026 12:17:06
Agree, Stevie. Hope Arteta wins the league. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.

19 Feb 2026 12:36:38
Not bothered by him on the touchline; they are all like that now. I don't mind Arsenal, but they are making heavy work of trying to win the league this year. It will be a tough one to take if they don't win it, but they are still in everything, so there is a lot to play for.

19 Feb 2026 13:13:28
London Celtic LMac ? Don't think so, pal. Learn your history regarding the Rangers and the Arsenal, my friend. ?

19 Feb 2026 14:04:39
If he doesn't win the title or a trophy this time, it may be time for him to be moved on.

19 Feb 2026 14:52:55
Spent a lot of cash, and dare I say it, I agree with Mystar — best squad in the league. I have a funny feeling Haaland, with all the sitters he misses and lack of goals, will shoot them to the title. ?

19 Feb 2026 15:56:59
Coops, yes mate, both clubs have a wonderful history together.

Believe we actually were gifted shares in Arsenal by the club, if I'm correct.

19 Feb 2026 17:02:44
Aye, Stevie, until the rat Craig Whyte sold them!

19 Feb 2026 17:53:24
Did we not buy them to help them out financially and play them often?
