Wee bit of engagement this one. Name me your most underrated Rangers player? I'll start barhim hemdani he was excellent for us and then just faded out never played after he left us either basically retired at 30 wonder what he's up to now.

Before I finished reading your post, I had Hemdani!
Very underrated and under appreciated. Tue guy just never gave the ball away. Pity we didn't have passing completion stats back then, his numbers would have been incredible!
It's quite a difficult one - Alec Clelland was also extremely underrated. Probably wasn't good enough to play for Rangers if truth be told but was a solid, hard working defender that rarely put a foot wrong. When people think of him they think about all those European games (and Del Piero) but domestically he was great.

Tugay was really underrated for me. And under rated by the club too. Unfersold to Blackburn and became a pure legend. Guy was class.
20 Jan 2026 04:52:38
Going back even further stuart munro the left back we got from Alloa ?.
20 Jan 2026 07:10:17
I'd say Sasha papac possibly even Sergio porrini.
20 Jan 2026 07:32:49
Hemdani was definitely better in Europe than he was in the league. But yeah good classy player. Mines prob tugay.
20 Jan 2026 07:55:40
If i'd went outside of Rangers Morton gamst pederson would be my choice what a player he was was magic on the ball special shout out to jay jay ococha as well who's dribbling and flair was 2nd 2 none if he was more all rounded he'd be talked about a hell of a lot more.
Palo aimar also was a player I loved in the early to mid 00s.
20 Jan 2026 08:26:12
I think there are too many to mention but Tugay and Hemdani stick out for me.
btw re Cleland if a player manages to play 65 games under our greatest ever manager then he s good enough to play for Rangers. was under-rated though.
20 Jan 2026 08:30:59
Rod Wallace for me.
20 Jan 2026 08:43:30
I always feel like Kenny Miller doesn't get enough credit. Probably down to the fact he played for the beggars.
20 Jan 2026 08:49:54
Carlos Cuéllar.
20 Jan 2026 09:00:48
My most underrated Rangers player without a doubt was Jim Bett. If ever a player could have dropped back to sweeper as he got older it was him. A favourite of mine.
20 Jan 2026 09:06:33
Kishnavilli anyone?
20 Jan 2026 09:11:44
McCoist was pretty underrated when he arrived ( for a while).
20 Jan 2026 09:49:14
Angus, Cleland was a good player mate.
20 Jan 2026 09:12:03
My namesake.
20 Jan 2026 09:16:04
Jukebox, great goal scorer and work rate second to none.
20 Jan 2026 09:39:21
Kent was underrated by many but was world class on route to the EL final particularly against Dortmund. We have never been able to replace Kent.
20 Jan 2026 09:58:09
Kent?! ?
Coldo, you don't even try to hide your true identity anymore.
We all know you're a Celtic supporter.
20 Jan 2026 10:01:25
Star I know he was and was responding to someone else saying perhaps he wasn't. if SWS (the manager not our one?) thinks a player was good enough that will do for me.
20 Jan 2026 10:01:51
Sam of orange both of those players weren't underrated in epl
Coldo that's the best laugh I have had in ages oh aye you know football ?.
20 Jan 2026 10:01:51
Joey Barton.
20 Jan 2026 10:02:49
Yes fork Definitely
And Angus - Clelland always sticks out for me the mount of arguments I used to have with friends over him honestly
He was a quality player that many didn't really give credit too
He played for the badge 100%
Definitely a player many underrated
I liked clelland and felt sorry for him when he moved to Everton and injuries sort derailed his time there
Also feel sorry for him he never got capped for Scotland which I think he definitely merited.
20 Jan 2026 10:12:57
I have never heard Kent and world class in the same sentence before?
Unless it's in relation to Superman?
20 Jan 2026 10:13:18
Elders
Gotta disagree, difficult to judge because he played in bad team, bad time. Even strip was bad.
20 Jan 2026 10:21:35
Davie Robertson.
20 Jan 2026 10:25:17
Stingo same mate, Cleland never got the credit he deserved.
20 Jan 2026 10:26:55
BAR
When Coisty arrived he wasn't underrated he was down right average.
20 Jan 2026 10:28:41
Always liked Gordon Petric.
Steady and reliable CH.
20 Jan 2026 11:22:52
Good post, so many underrated Rangers players.
Waterreus
Whittaker
D. Weir
Moore
Bougherra
D. Robertson
McCall
I. Ferguson
Spackman
Huistra
Durie
I would put Tav in there but he's not underrated he just divides opinion. He's a pure, natural wing back that has always had to play in a back 4 and that's not his fault.
Tugay is a good shout but I didn't think he dovetailed with Barry Ferguson that well. They both seemed to occupy the same space.
Niemi was a good shout but actually didn't play that many games. I also thought Neil Alexander was underrated.
Hundreds of options at defence. Davie Robertson is possibly the most underrated footballer in Scottish history, only 3 Scottish caps and he was better that Tosh McKinlay and as good as Tom Boyd in my opinion.
McCall isn't underrated but I think it's easy to forget just how good a player he was. I think Gazza said he was his favourite midfield partner.
Novo or Durie as the most underrated strikers and Durie was the supporting player to Hately and McCoist. He never let us down.
20 Jan 2026 11:55:17
Stonewall Jackson.
20 Jan 2026 12:28:55
Loved Amato ??.
20 Jan 2026 12:44:19
As someone has already said I would say Jim Bett, he was a continental type midfielder having come from Belgium and a lot of fans didn't " get " him.
Going a bit further back I would say Tommy McLean, he followed Wullie Henderson and the fans just wanted their winger to race past the full back, but wee Tam loved to come inside and leave space for Sandy to overlap.
His crossing was as good as you will see and if they counted assists in those days he would have been leading the league every season. Big DJ thanked him every season.
20 Jan 2026 12:50:44
Durie was a high 20s to 30s goals a season, hard as nails, great in air, worked harder than anyone and had the knack of being in right place at right time, played in a team of hero's like Laudrup, Gazza, Hately and McCoist so probably never got the worship he would of got if played in different error, Stuart Munro was another who fought off big signings in the Souness error, steady as they come.
20 Jan 2026 14:44:18
Kent was a moments player, seriously lacked consistency. World class at times? No for me. Had his moments in Europe 100% so did Dessers especially at Old Trafford and away in Europe I could never use those words thou.
