John 27

Have u heard anything regarding Kent going in the window.
Would be concerned as we don't seem to have a similar replacement lined up and we rely on Kent a lot.
Must admit of not knowing anything about the boy at Swansea.

1.) 26 Jan 2023 21:24:02
Cantwell Lawrence both can play lam well, Cantwell played most games this season on the lw.

2.) 26 Jan 2023 21:24:30
Not that I want Kent to go because i definitely don’t but Cantwell could play that’s position drifting inside off the left and I think that’s where he played a lot for Norwich. Hagi could probs do it as well.

3.) 26 Jan 2023 21:24:50
Forgot about Sakala and Lowry 4 players.

4.) 26 Jan 2023 21:41:02
Cantwell can play in kents position.

5.) 26 Jan 2023 21:52:41
Hopefully not and he signs new deal.

6.) 26 Jan 2023 21:56:47
Ross Wilson’s job is to look after the club first and foremost. If Leicester City throw several million at Kent, and this IS our last chance to cash in, Rangers should take it. The lad hasn’t signed a new deal, and he may never do so. A few million now could recoup some of the initial outlay and sort out a replacement.

The fact Kent and Morelos (two of our most sellable assets at one point) were allowed to run down their contracts like this is ridiculous. Their stock would’ve been at its highest last summer after the European final. If they weren’t going to sign new deals we should’ve moved them on then.

7.) 26 Jan 2023 22:19:07
I'm sorry but Lawrence injured cantwell not played a game yet lowry doesn't have the pace and Sakala doesn't have the composure so we have no1 who can provide what Kent can.

8.) 27 Jan 2023 00:28:22
Cantwell has played his most games on the left hand side of the attacking players in his team so yes he can play that position.

9.) 27 Jan 2023 02:39:05
I honestly thought cantwell was brought in to replace Kent anyway ?.

10.) 27 Jan 2023 05:13:10
Ryan Kent will sign a new contract imo ??.

11.) 27 Jan 2023 06:29:03
We have nobody like kent, he brings so much too us n yeah coarse he has off days they all do . But he is a diffrent class. Last person too be near as good as kent was we candeias
Good wingers are hard too come by
As everbody wants them
Pace.
Control
Final ball
Few goals too chip in its a posttion you have too fork out for

Look at matondo pace too burn but just lacks a bit in the final product

Kents there already. That's harder too replace.

12.) 27 Jan 2023 06:57:58
Verdant, move them on where, if players do not want to sign a new contract and no bids come in for them what do you want the club to do about it. What is ridiculous is comments blaming the club for them not signing a new deal.

13.) 27 Jan 2023 07:24:56
Cantwell stated he sees himself more through the middle even tho he can play there.

14.) 27 Jan 2023 08:00:01
Behind a cf davie as is am that is where he will be playing he will be number 10 with another.

15.) 27 Jan 2023 08:00:59
Verdant, with every post, you highlight more and more, your complete lack of understanding on how contracts work and how transfers operate. What Kent and Morelos are doing is completely acceptable as much as it might frustrate us. We’re you complaining when we signed Bassey, Aribo etc in the same situation? If we wait and get Raskin in the summer for a small development fee? Worth understanding before going in two for footed and looking daft. ?.

16.) 27 Jan 2023 13:01:08
Some here appear to think the transfer situation is only unfair to Rangers, actually every club has to do the right thing for their club in contract situations. I trust that helps to clear things up.

Do the Bouncy
I was told from a source who does a lot of work with the club that Goldson waited till his contract was up to sign a new contract cause there was a clause that a payment would have been due to Brighton if he signed before that.
Don't know the exact details of the clause that's what I was told.
Apparently never in doubt he was staying with the club.

trueblue 26

1.) 01 Nov 2022 19:04:45
Seems our fans like to make out he was waiting for deal from another club. A think personally he likes it up here. Was rumours his misses was homesick tho.

2.) 01 Nov 2022 19:47:57
True blue I always felt it was never in doubt he won't get what he has here down south he would have been stupid if he left.

3.) 01 Nov 2022 21:57:03
Easy to say once a deal been signed . he was a part of the shoddy defending too let's not forget doesn't get a pass just cause he's injured.

4.) 01 Nov 2022 22:12:31
Was also part of the spfl best ever defence for goals
Conceded in a league run.

5.) 01 nov 2022 22:27:42
god almighty

connor wanted back to england so much he was half packed

he even had a new house built .
now were told he didn't actually want to go and was always staying

codswallop.

6.) 01 Nov 2022 22:32:19
So why didn’t he leave then if he’s got a new house built? Do you actually no he built a house seems like a rumour. Because if you built a house am sure you would move in it. Weird a guy is getting slagged when he never even played.

7.) 01 Nov 2022 22:36:02
If goldson left on a free he would of went to qpr by now.

8.) 01 Nov 2022 23:39:42
Many people have a second home, makes sense that he would want somewhere down South as well as his home in Scotland. Doesn't mean that he was desperate to get back down South!
One thing is for sure, we are missing him!
Shame that we brought in the permanently injured Souttar as back up rather than a player without a a serious injury record!

9.) 02 Nov 2022 00:40:51
I personally believe Goldson got no offer from any clubs he would consider.

10.) 02 Nov 2022 06:04:20
Bassey i know he built a new house for a fact just outside birmingham. I know the person who was the interior designer for it. Been quite a long project. While it was on going i was always asking to see if could get away tickets for celtic and it was an away ticket for Feyenoord as i only managed to get a home end ticket. ( which was a pretty daunting thought) .

11.) 02 Nov 2022 06:58:51
So English guy builds house in England doesn’t mean he wanted away because if he was a free he would of been snapped up.

12.) 02 nov 2022 07:15:18
bassey, you really need to start reading things properly, and stop replying to absolutely everything like a child

nobody said he was leaving because he built a house, it was simply another pointer to the fact he thought and wanted to be back in england

you can dress it anyway you like, but he would have gone in a heartbeat if any decent club had wanted him.

13.) 02 Nov 2022 07:46:42
Modt want rid of kent but did some1 not post he build or bought a house here? So he prob got 2 like goldson same as a lot of players albertz had 1 here plus germany an croatia building or buying means nothing.

14.) 02 Nov 2022 08:21:28
After a long painful return to CL – I feel that our club needs to address failings and not just on pitch failings. Lessons need learned fast and this team needs major rebuild but more importantly off the pitch – scouting/ signings/ and contract issues which have manifested and festered for many months now.

We never should end up in the situation where two of our soon to be out of contact players are/ have been sucking the lifeblood out of our team – Kent/ Morelos situation – Wilson and Co have failed us by not having proper procedures in place that should state when a player gets to 2yrs or 18months and is no longer willing to resign with us that we need to make money on our assets and move them on for cash rather than allowing them to dictate to us!

We would have lost Goldson too if anyone of note had been remotely interested in him – I am getting tired of allowing those to bite that hand that originally fed and nurtured them. Player power is prevalent in all leagues but we must not be taken for mugs on a regular basis. We need to sign the right profile of player for now/ future and do we have the right scouting staff in place to allow this to happen? – I recently have my doubts. The team from across the city seem to be able to identify and address hungry young players who don’t cost the earth from various continents!

Will we ever see players like Bassey/ Aribo/ Patterson again who came through ranks or were bought for minimal cash with big return – that is the profile we need to get back to and fast!

Is Gio picking his new players or they being forced on him by above – another major question which goes unanswered?
Our signings through injury and attitude on the whole have been DIRE – Souttar injury prone and some off field issues that are no fault of player – Obaforh feel sorry for lad who has never kicked a ball in earnest for us but why was his condition not picked up at initial medical (will he ever play for us or are we just paying him till end of contact? ) – Sands looks a decent enough player but can't get run in his normal position – Tillman looks skilful in patches but don’t have great faith in his attitude or desire for the team ( I feel he is overpriced for the type of player we really need and Bayern obviously see a handout coming – HOPE NOT) .

It is good, I suppose to have a player from Bayern come to us but surely we want/ need players from lesser clubs with hunger and desire to get to a club of Bayern’s stature or an EPL club…. who will come to us with view of moving on because that is how we can get the right type of hungry player who will work hard for team and eventually make us some cash too – blended with our own, like King/ Lowry and some good senior pros to give a good mix and learning curve.

McGregor/ Davis in twilight of careers and Arfield who will soon be in that category but I still feel has something to offer the team. Will we ever give McCrorie his chance with a good run of games because we could use the money that is being touted for a new keeper elsewhere in our team?

Its easy to say in hindsight but our goalkeeping situation is laughable too that we NEED to rely on a 40year old …who has been great – demote McLauglin and have a young hungry keeper in reserve who gets zero game time.

Our board, scouting and management team need their heads bashed together and let’s get some direction and plans in place going forwards in all fronts because after 55 we are drifting slowly backwards and its painful to watch.
First time back in CL has been a harsh lesson – but please LEARN from it and don’t bury our heads in sand. All out for league glory lads.
Rant over ……………for now!

15.) 02 Nov 2022 09:09:58
Blue-Floyd thinking mcgregor, Davis and arfield offer us absolutely anything is part of the reason we're in this mess. They shouldve left after 55, but we got sentimental and thus stagnated to a point we'd struggle to get out of a conference league group.

16.) 02 Nov 2022 09:26:18
Crazy to still have greegs davis and arfield at the club. U need to keep moving forward.

17.) 02 Nov 2022 09:34:07
Blue Floyd - We can't really complain about players seeing out their contracts then leaving us. Our team that got to the Europa league final was littered with guys that we used that exact market to get. It's part and parcel of modern football and allows us to pick up players we might not have the cash to go and sign should they have 3+ years left at another club.

18.) 02 Nov 2022 10:40:01
Thats true fruitbear but when we get guys in for a free or minimal and then they leave that's bearable (no harm in selling odd one for profit though) - but 7 mill for Kent and prob minimal return does'nt sound too good does it?

Watch the other mob - buy cheap sell big. move along and and do it all again - that's the way of our league if we want to balance books and get some success.

19.) 02 Nov 2022 10:40:43
blue floyd. ofobhor passed a medical when we signed him

as i’m sure u know every player who represents their club in uefa competition must have a full heart check b4 playing
this is when his heart issue had came to light. in his career he had passed this test multiple times.

players do and can get an heart issue over night think eriksen or mulumbu.

20.) 02 Nov 2022 12:05:52
The other lot don't always buy cheap and sell high. Probably more successful than us at it in recent years but for every decent sale there is still a Barkas or Ajeti.

21.) 02 Nov 2022 12:17:34
Cheers John - was unaware of specific medical check for Euro Matches through UEFA.
I wrongly assumed that all clubs would want to know any medical issues right at start when signing players for long contracts where big cash involved many times.

22.) 02 Nov 2022 13:27:52
Tjrfc think we were stagnating way before that we stuck with Kent Morelos for too long forward line should be changed every couple of years.

23.) 02 Nov 2022 13:45:51
TJRFC - think my post was not very clear - I meant that Greegs and Davis are at end of careers but Arfield still has a bit to give and is not quite finished yet.

24.) 02 Nov 2022 15:33:59
We are tracking the wrong type though. smelltic are tracking young future potential international players from different countries we are tracking English players who are not likely to get international recognition.

25.) 02 Nov 2022 15:55:25
We brought in 3 young internationals in the summer, Matondo Tillman Yilmaz.

26.) 02 nov 2022 17:09:03
kent morelos definetly overstayed by a year.

27.) 02 Nov 2022 21:23:49
Agree with morelos but not kent. The "system" we play, coupled by the 37 year old midfielder behind him and the pathetic left back behind him kills him. A decent manager with hagi beside him and yilmaz behind him and kent comes back 100%. He's also looked a bit better the last 2 weeks.

28.) 02 Nov 2022 23:01:43
Tjrfc we conceded just as many with McLaughlin Alan might be old but he's still the best we have.

29.) 03 Nov 2022 06:29:25
If such a clause did exist -

1. He signed before his contract expired.

2. Most of the time you are not allowed to use loopholes to get around the spirit of a clause. This has been shown by Atleti with Griezman after Barcelona threatened legal action.

30.) 03 Nov 2022 07:07:12
TJRFC

The pathetic left back has provided more telling balls into the box than Kent this season. he gets to bye line more and has more goal assists - the problem with Kent. is Kent! - no confidence nor desire to be at Ibrox.
His last two performances have been better but nowhere near standard required.
Any full back will be poor if his winger never gives quality runs to receive a pass and that's what happens regularly.

31.) 03 Nov 2022 16:26:48
Couldn’t agree more blue-floyd. Barasic would flourish in a team better than ours. Many say he’s a confidence player and when he has an empty jersey in front of him no wonder he’s had to play so many balls back the way ( see recent Motherwell game where I actually lost the amount of times borna was shouting at Kent to give him a run or just be in a decent area to receive a pass) . Even when borna gives him the ball he gets it back after the obligatory shim and step over. He shouldn’t be allowed near iBRox and go back and look at the 3-0 and 4-0 games at park head. Kent absolutely hangs him out to dry… shameful.

32.) 03 nov 2022 17:51:21
barasic has done far more for rangers than kent has.

33.) 03 Nov 2022 20:19:11
Kent has more assists than barsic this season and John has more clean sheets than alan.

16 Oct 2022 14:30:08
Hearing good reports about Cole McKinnon, I know a former first team coach there who still has links to the club and McColl told him that he is a good yin and has all the attributes.

trueblue 26

1.) 16 Oct 2022 14:44:39
True. He is delivering at thistle, imo has a very bright future.

2.) 16 Oct 2022 15:09:04
John thanks for update on McKinnon yesterday, how close do you feel he is to first team? Or does he maybe need to go back on loan 2nd half of season?
Only seen him a couple of times he looks physically ready.

3.) 16 Oct 2022 15:20:54
Bgate, issue for me at this stage would playing him hamper progress off mcann…. Personally I’d send McKinnon on loan to premier team.

There persists a rumour Davis May move in January,

4.) 16 Oct 2022 15:40:03
I actually think Davis is hampering the progression of McCann. As much as I like Davis maybe this extra season is too big an ask? Put McGregor in that category too.

5.) 16 Oct 2022 16:18:16
It should have been obvious for the club not to have given Mcgregor, Davis, and Arfield new contracts, we learnt no lesson from giving Defoe a new contract 12 months earlier, their contracts have done more harm than good.

6.) 16 Oct 2022 16:29:06
Correct Bathgate.

7.) 16 Oct 2022 16:32:17
Arfield arguably best player this season and well worth contract extension.

8.) 16 Oct 2022 16:48:53
I'm sure I said when Davis and arfield signed that I think they might both go in January might change now with jack injury.

9.) 16 Oct 2022 17:39:39
My worry is it’s easier to come into a rangers team that’s playing well. Airfield still contributes.

10.) 16 oct 2022 18:37:54
mckinnon couldn't have a better tutor than ian mcoll.

11.) 16 Oct 2022 18:43:51
He's the 1 player outwith King, Lowry and McCann who I've been impressed with.

12.) 16 Oct 2022 19:04:13
Very true Tom, good coach and communicator.

13.) 16 Oct 2022 20:39:48
Good to hear another academy player doing well.

14.) 16 oct 2022 20:57:02
and a very good player bankie, personal choices curtailled what could hav been a great career.

15.) 16 Oct 2022 21:12:54
Arfield deserves to stay can't fault his work rate.

16.) 17 Oct 2022 08:58:05
You can't win either way

Play experienced players get beat get slattered

Play youth get beat get slatteted

So who wins that debate definitely not gio or any other manager as said at the start they can't win either way.

17.) 17 Oct 2022 09:09:27
Did you not see how horrendous the keeper who started the season was? McGregor at 50 yrs old will still be twice the keeper that numpty will ever be. Davis was the only one who got near Salah vs Liverpool, tracking back, almost getting a foot on the ball whilst Barisic and Davies were sitting there like a pair of sausages!
Arfield has been playing ok compared to the rest of the squad so in effect none of you wanted 3 of our best, most experienced players to stay on!

Gid yin.

18.) 17 Oct 2022 09:57:46
There is no denying McGregor is a better keeper than McLaughlin however he is not getting any younger. What is apparent is we missed the boat by not signing anyone. GB never got any support from board they were too happy to give new contracts to older players who should have left the club. Also muck about with players who don't want to play for us, its simple you don't want to sign new contracts then you don't play.

19.) 17 Oct 2022 19:59:26
Were too quick to jump on young talent. if Cole is playing well then leave him at thistle. another 15 games this season will do him good then next season either keep him at partick or try get him a move to spl team. On that note tho it's pointless being at spl team if he won't play.

20.) 18 Oct 2022 00:00:46
Got to freshen things up mcalpine. Always sad to see great players come to the end of their careers but that's life. I'd love to be 30 again but I can't. So it's slippers and horlicks.

21.) 18 Oct 2022 10:46:23
Davie, I think we need that move now re McKinnon, Newcastle to bid in January.

22.) 18 Oct 2022 14:18:02
Leets be honest we have at least half of starting 11 injured. If it wasn’t for Arfield, Davis and McGregor still being on the books we would be out of running for league already IMO.
Arfield has had a good season IMO, McGregor has been our best GK and Davis is a decent squad player.
We expected to have Hagi back near start of season and out other number 10 Lawrence was doing well until injured too.
We have had at least 1 1st choice CB out most of season and numerous other injuries to squad.
We are still in contention in league with funds to strengthen in January by which time we might have 4 or 5 players back too.
It’s not all doom and gloom, Champions League has been hard to take but if we had our full squad we would have competed better but we have been unlucky to be in a group with best team in Europe in current form Napoli, Liverpool who have been in final 3/ 5 years and an Ajax team I think we would have competed with better if we didn’t have major problems in back 4 and GK in particular.

23 Jan 2022 20:08:47
Was wondering if Skov Olsen is the target for the right wing berth.
We have read numerous rumours on this one but still very quiet.
Don't get me wrong I like the way we go about our business quietly.
I would be surprised if we didn't have two or three options to go for so maybe our target is someone else and they may not be available at the moment.
I wouldn't be surprised if we try and bring another body in on loan instead of a transfer
We will see.

trueblue 26

1.) 23 Jan 2022 23:10:00
Your wondering if Skov Olsen is a target? Are you ok?

2.) 24 Jan 2022 08:52:04
It’s in the press that he is but seems to be dragging on
I’m no sure it will happen would prefer us to move on to someone else to try and get them in the door.
Unless u know something we don’t.

Good post about the Scottish players.
All for signing Scottish players as long as they are good enough.
Not easy signing the up and coming ones either as they are sought after and we have limited budget now.
The manager likes Wright as a squad player so can see him staying.
Arfield is a squad player also but at his stage of his career understandable that he may want to play regularly.
We are investing a lot in our youth system so it's maybe with one eye on a couple coming into the squad, this takes time though, and not all of them are Scottish, can they be British? Not sure on that one.

trueblue 26

1.) 29 Jan 2023 12:46:29
Can be any nationality as long as trained at the club or another association club in Scotland from 15-21.

2.) 29 Jan 2023 13:09:49
Lowry does not count now and in another 2 seasons he will count as 1 of free players same as Devine, in a few years Rangers will have a good few free players for our European squad.

3.) 29 Jan 2023 13:17:53
Camoo correct me if I'm wrong here but is that only if they have been in the academy set up for 3 years minimum.

4.) 29 Jan 2023 14:27:28
Yes davie.

5.) 29 Jan 2023 14:34:40
True blue rangers ultimate is to bring through 8 of our own academy.

6.) 29 Jan 2023 14:46:15
I think that will happen very soon John.

7.) 29 Jan 2023 15:05:58
What evidence do you base this on Beale? none of the youth are getting a chance so what's going change for this to happen?

8.) 29 jan 2023 22:27:01
every single post is negative, dhim alert.

28 Jan 2023 22:25:57
Tom Thumb my comment about his record against Celtic was in response to another post.
My original post if u read it was I think we need better than him that's it.

trueblue 26

1.) 29 Jan 2023 09:34:07
Michael stewart just raging because he hears the fans calling him a merchant banker ?.

28 Jan 2023 17:01:30
Bellshill I feel the same I would rather we went for an all round type forward to replace Morelos.
I don't dislike Nisbet but he's no what we need in big games, my opinion.
And if he comes in is Colak off as to me they are fairly similar.

trueblue 26

1.) 28 Jan 2023 17:44:33
Another goal the day from coming off the bench.

2.) 28 Jan 2023 17:46:05
I would rather we didn't replace Morelos and he signs a new deal, doubt it but there's no harm in hoping.

3.) 28 Jan 2023 18:03:12
Nisbett will help us win the league back I have no doubt that and hope we get him in asap.

4.) 28 Jan 2023 18:20:42
Replace Morelos with Nisbet okay then only if we want to go back the way that makes zero sense to me that can not happen.

5.) 28 Jan 2023 18:41:14
Who are you saying scored coming off bench storm? Tav and kamara got the goals …? No?

6.) 28 Jan 2023 18:49:17
Beale you keep saying replace Morelos with nisbet
No one I can see has said that

We’re a big club fighting in a lot of completions we need plenty of options up front
And we also need a replacement for morleos if he isn’t staying
the more strikers the merrier
with amount of injuries we have had over the last few seasons nothing wrong with another proven goal scorer in the league

Not been funny here
remind me again how many Morelos has scored? This season
29 total appearances so far 7 goals

Nisbet 6 appearances 7 goals

Get that boy signed asap

I’ll take nisbet if he can come and score for fun in the league and help us win the league why wouldn’t anyone want that ?.

7.) 28 Jan 2023 19:20:14
Okay stigno Nisbet could replace Colak tho.

8.) 28 Jan 2023 19:20:42
100% stig.

9.) 28 Jan 2023 19:21:41
Morelos is a far better player than Nisbet and by a good bit.

10.) 28 Jan 2023 19:26:34
Molsgials he was talking about Nisbet.

11.) 28 Jan 2023 19:52:34
I agree the buffs a much better player and I’d like to think signing nisbett isn’t to replace him but bring us a much better natural finisher.

12.) 28 Jan 2023 19:57:12
Mols Kevin nisbett came of the bench I was replying to OP that mentioned him.

Thernsvolly Nisbet in for Colak both great finishers but Nisbet has more about him than Colak only my opinion.

Selling clubs are well aware that out of contract players can leave for nothing in the summer, they have a valuation and will try to get that figure right up till last minute then will probably cut a deal for less.
It's called negotiation so let's see where we are in next few days.
I think we will get at least one more in, possibly two.
But could be last day as always flurry of activity then.

One Walter we will need a main striker if Buff goes.
I am sure we will be looking at a different type of striker than Nisbet for that role.
Couple of years back there was noise that we were interested but I believe we have moved on since then.

I just feel Nisbet would guarantee goals in spl and is better than itten who we payed 1/ 2m for but I understand your point.

2.) 26 Jan 2023 18:56:00
Yes he would get goals against most teams in spl. But so does Colak.
The club is right not to go for him.
I’d like a physical striker.
Nothing against Nisbet but if we want to challenge them then we need better.

Be better with Scott nisbet.

Sounds like a long shot
Probably depends on Morelos going,
The thought of him leaving for nada in the summer is frustrating but we need a club to come in for him now.
For me that would be the best outcome.
Would love a new striker to come in.

How many incomings in this window do you think John
2 or 3?
Have u heard any interest in Morelos with contract ending.
I hope McKinnon and Lowry benefit and come back better if they are loaned out.

I’ve no heard anything John let’s see.
I know Lee
He had to leave the club when Gerrard was there cause he wouldn’t drop the court case.
Gerrard had a meeting and told him he would be in the squad if he dropped the case, problem was he was out a lot of money so he didn’t.
That was it for him and my players lounge tickets ?.

Tom Heaton is 36 that would seem a strange signing.
Unless for a short term.

Mark 44 Let’s see if Roofe can get fit soon then I’m sure he will play a part for us for rest of season.
I understand why you would say moving him on cause of his injuries, but if we were trying to do that then I can’t see many clubs going for him as he’s not featured much.
Better for him and the club that he gets some game time, then more chance of getting clubs interested if we wanted to sell.
I’d keep a fit Roofe as he offers us something a bit different up front.

It’s a ruptured Achilles will be out for rest of season.
Best wishes to him and hopefully he can continue his good form when he’s fit.

No for me Storm
Has he scored against Celtic in last couple of seasons.
He’s no better than what we have up top and to win the league back we are going to need better.
