I don't like England, not the team, because they can be a really gd watch, Kane at the top of his game is great to watch, Bellingham's been doing really well, as I said gd to watch.

Commentary and sycophantic punditry and the "coming home" mince does my nut in, I get it, they are excited and we'd probably be going overboard to, doesn't mean I have to like it.
It spoils any game they play in for me, yes I know, mute the comms, but football without it just doesn't seem right, anno daft in some eyes, but we can't help what bugs us.

Now they face Argentina, Messi et al, they could burst the bubble, Argentinians burning the UJ is disgusting, that's not about football, that's about a brief if catastrophic war that cost many lives some 50 years ago, nothing to do with football, just used to cause rancour and discourse.

Removing emotion of the past won't happen, " the hand of God" way back when evokes a sense of revenge that will spur on the English team, that and the flag burning is Tuchels teamtalk right there.

Some want an English victory, some Argentina, who u want is up to u, both are more than capable, but if its based on the past barbarics of the theatre of war then for me the game is already lost.

Let's hope it's a great game, end to end, all out attack, there are going to be some great players on both side on display, let's enjoy it for what it really is meant to be, " The Beautiful Game"

Every time they get knocked out I can't help singing they're coming home, they're coming home, they're coming, England's coming home.

15 Jul 2026 09:19:19
Agree fork, JFM.

15 Jul 2026 09:24:27
I've got a £40 bet on with a work colleague that England will beat Argentina tonight. Already £50 down to him with Rangers losing the league.

15 Jul 2026 09:55:03
Sorry Me2, but I hope you go £90 down. Nothing personal against you, I will enjoy the final better if England aren't in it.

15 Jul 2026 10:07:11
Like I will enjoy it far more, if England are in the final.
Hopefully you've only lost a tenner on Sunday, Me2. 👍

I agree, the media around international tournament time are unbearable. This year wasn't so bad until the last couple of rounds.

The commentary is often a hard watch/listen, especially Shearer. It's harder to listen to than Rangers TV commentary.

15 Jul 2026 10:18:28
Fork, I was away down south last week. I watched the first half of the Eng-Nor game in a hotel, and someone had set the TV to the audio description setting, and I couldn't work out how to change it.

So, the commentary was like the radio and no Shearer. It was bliss, and I plan on using it now I am back home. It is annoying for normal TV but was great for the football.

15 Jul 2026 11:22:45
Don't have a problem with your view, Mystar. We're all different.

15 Jul 2026 11:22:50
The only good thing is that I was alive last time they won, so if they did win this time I would only have to listen to their rubbish for a couple of years and not another 60.

15 Jul 2026 13:10:02
I always put the Scotland v England football rivalry down the same road as Rangers v Aberdeen. It's a very very 1 sided rivalry. Rangers biggest rivals will always be Celtic, England's biggest rivals will be the Germans and Argies. A lot of the Tartan Army and Aberdeen fans carry a rather large chip on their shoulder.

15 Jul 2026 14:07:52
I tried to post yesterday. The biggest problem I have is there is this unique thing to the other home nations regarding England.

We all pretty much have to watch English TV for every tournament and beyond. If England win, we will be bombarded with it non-stop, and it will be unavoidable.

It's a really weird situation, can you imagine the English only having access to Argentinian or German TV for the next 10 years after they win.

For that alone I hope they continue their.

15 Jul 2026 14:08:34
Awful record.

15 Jul 2026 14:21:06
Peterpan, the footballing rivalry is nothing like Aberdeen's wannabe rivalry. England and Scotland, even apart from ancient history, were football rivals since the game was invented. Only reason they don't think of us as rivals as much is because we're not very good anymore, and don't play them much. Doesn't change them being our main rivals. Always have been, always will.

15 Jul 2026 15:12:11
100% backing England tonight.

15 Jul 2026 15:07:58
Yes England are Scotlands main rivals always will be. Not Englands, totally 1 sided. They have a far more intense rivalry with argies. Not good anymore? They have never been gokd have they?

15 Jul 2026 15:56:39
1 million percent supporting England tonight. Can't stand Argentina. Not bothered if they win the full thing, though be more of a neutral vs Spain.

15 Jul 2026 22:26:19
So pleased the wonderful Argentina won. My first real exposure to the World Cup was 1978. My old man bought me a Scotland top (itchy AF) when we went out. Even after Archie G's score, I fell in love with Mario Kempes and the two lads who went to Spurs.

My bedroom walls were full of posters, plus my teeth ruined by the blue and white Argentina chews. 🤯🤯🙏. So that's where my fandom was born. Well done Argentina, magnificent, and glad 99% of the poster were in the support of Argentina. Here to another 30 years of hurt.

15 Jul 2026 22:30:59
Villa and Ardilles.

15 Jul 2026 23:31:50
Am I not the only one? But is there not a similarity between the English supporters and the Celtic supporters, and they both have great memories, most of which they were never even born for.

16 Jul 2026 00:18:12
That is a ridiculous take, Peterpan. Scotland and England are rivals in majority of things and always will be. I certainly wasn't, and only time I would want England to win is when they are playing the Republic of Ireland.

16 Jul 2026 09:20:32
At least the argies flag the were parading last night was the right colour for them. White of surrender.

17 Jul 2026 12:24:16
Warmed my cold, dark geart watching them getting leathrred again if I'm totally honest.

15 Jul 2026 08:00:32
Let's be totally honest Souttar is not the best to injury prone.
His attribute coming from Hearts was he was a good on the ball.
He's got slower and doesn't dominant his own box or chip in with any goals.

I've always felt he is poor in the air, and rash diving into tackles. Just don't see us winning the league with him as a main starter.

14 Jul 2026 22:32:50
Do you think our new captain is already at the club or yet to arrive?

Agree1

14 Jul 2026 22:41:05
Maybe Rommens/Shankland? Or yet to be purchased, not sure, but Shankland seems like a natural pick.

14 Jul 2026 22:58:19
Yet to arrive, I think, Gazza.

14 Jul 2026 22:58:25
Not here yet imo.
Not excited by any signings so far.
I think, to an extent, we are replacing like with like & playing a 🤞🤞 game that they hope comes good!!

14 Jul 2026 22:58:51
Reckon we'll start the season with Neil or Shankland as captain, and new captain will sign in August.

14 Jul 2026 23:44:26
The club captain will be Lewis Ferguson if he signs, Lawrence Shankland if he doesn't.
Dan Neil will be vice or 3rd.

15 Jul 2026 08:08:08
You want the Captain to be playing all the time, that rules out Shankland for me, can see him sitting on the bench in many games.

15 Jul 2026 08:50:53
I think there's a good chance it'll be Dan Neil.

15 Jul 2026 09:48:24
Lewis Ferguson, Dan Neil/Shankland.

I agree the club captain should be on the pitch as starter. Shankland will probably drop out of 11 for Europe, etc., if one up top.

15 Jul 2026 11:59:28
Beale, I agree mate.

That's why I wrote club captain.

I think Lawrence can do that job well enough to let Neil concentrate on his on pitch role.

15 Jul 2026 14:00:17
More leaders the better, Stevie, Niel is very vocal on the park, mate, I'm still wanting Lewis Ferguson as captain, don't rule this out, even after listening to them saying it's definitely not happening.

15 Jul 2026 16:01:10
Beale listening to who saying it's definitely not happening? Who said this?

I think we'll sign him in the last week of window maybe loan to buy obligation

15 Jul 2026 16:34:08
Slim Jim, Mph, and others, can't remember usernames, mate.
Just know Cavenagh wasn't him, maybe we don't sign him, Stevie, but we're definitely interested in him.

15 Jul 2026 16:50:07
Wants him even.

16 Jul 2026 01:44:54
If we don't sign him this summer, we will sign him next summer.

I think there's something in this loan to Napoli rumour.

If we can't manage him this year, he'll go on loan for a season to a bigger Italian club. Try to win Serie A, play in Champions League and then come to us next summer.

His value goes up, cause he is successful but Cole's down cause length of contract.

EUR20 m again, I'd expect.

Absolutely, we're trying to do it.

It's fate if u will. He's a Ferguson. It's his path to play for us and lead us.

14 Jul 2026 21:25:52
World cup semi and france not a shot on target!

14 Jul 2026 22:59:28
That's almost Scotland stats, Laudrup. 🤣🤣

15 Jul 2026 06:37:11
I had backed France from the start of the competition but they were dreadful last night. Spain thoroughly deserved the win and I hope they go on to win the final.

14 Jul 2026 19:59:48
I think France will give Spain a hiding.

14 Jul 2026 21:53:43
Don't think many people have seen this result coming. 84 minutes gone, and France have been terrible.

14 Jul 2026 22:05:52
They haven't turned up at all. Brilliant all tournament and utter gash tonight, Rodri n Ruiz ran that tonight.

14 Jul 2026 22:10:22
Rodri was outstanding tonight.

14 Jul 2026 22:14:43
Is there a better sitting MF in world football than Rodri?

14 Jul 2026 22:19:53
I was shocked how bad they were. I just hope Spain go on and win it now!

15 Jul 2026 01:40:09
This aged well. 😂

14 Jul 2026 18:58:59

I believe I've replied to the wrong post, apologies.

Rangers are considering a move for Philadelphia Union defender Olwethu Makhanya. According to sky sports
