Seen this morning in the news that we have added Raphaël Wicky former young boys manager to the list of people interviewing. I hope this is not correct i think we need someone who knows scottish football and has proven they can do stuff in the SPL. I would puah the Boat out and get derrick MacInnes from Hearts or Bring Barry back for the rest of the season if we can not find the right person now. I would do what Celtic did with Ange and give him a 1 season contract and see how he does.

Barry is a no from me.

12 Oct 2025 21:32:32
We don't need anyone that knows Scottish football.

I don't know why Gerrard walked away, maybe those itk have some info so I don't quite understand the vitriol toward the board on this.

No player or manager (potential) is bigger than the club so if it was about control / scope
And/ or £s as the reason (s) then I think they have absolutely done the right thing and not bent over backwards to accommodate.

We move on.

If it's furry it'll no go by ye.

100% he had knocked us back again and he walked out on us and some still think he is the messiah.

13 Oct 2025 00:17:39
Don't get the Gerrard adulation myself Strom.

12 Oct 2025 18:51:12
I'm very disappointed that Gerrard has walked away, no idea why exactly but have my suspicions, it just felt when he was coming the mood really lifted and everyone i spoke to had a real buzz on again and some hope, for me it was a nearly a perfect fit at this moment in time, he ticked a lot of box's ie huge character, pressure doesn't phase him, knows expectations, been here and won a title, handles press well, bringing a back room team that would want to win for professional and fan reasons, but it's not to be, whoever comes in will need to have one hell of strong character that's for sure, Out the names mentioned I'd be wanting Muscat or Benitez, I'm still hoping a wee ace is up the boards sleeve but so far they haven't got much right in terms of appointments at board level or coach level, tomorrow might bring some good news and a man right out the blue a real statement, here's hoping.

There's a reason all these managers are turning us down, all the 49 ers are after is a yes man who has no control over transfers, these idiots will do anything apart from make the correct decision, if they thought ibrox was toxic last week they ain't seen nothing yet.

There's a good article on the BBC pages about our managerial pursuit.

12 Oct 2025 16:26:40
All these managers? One and that is only if he actually got offered the job. All we know right now is he walked away and that's not for the 1st time.

12 Oct 2025 16:26:49
That's the modern way Lithium. The days of Alex Ferguson dictating everything are a thing of the past. The new owners have said this is the way they are going forward too.

12 Oct 2025 18:31:03
It's still going to be toxic next week , the majority of fans have had enough of Thelwell and Stewart does not matter if it's PEP or they bring back Martin.

12 Oct 2025 11:49:51
Having thought about this overnight, I don't understand why we went into talks with Gerrard, knowing all along that he wanted a big say in signings, that we were never going to give him, why? All they have done is get a huge % of the fan base excited, to then tell him no and put huge pressure on whoever does take the job. I think it's a huge blunder on the club at this point.

Think about this if your Gerrard looking at our recruitment by thelwell, would you put your neck on the line by accepting Thelwell to keep recruiting on your behalf? I certainly wouldn't. Ppl can say we don't know why he pulled out, we do know it's blatantly obvious, Thelwell isn't for budging.

I would understand this if he done some good things, but this dude is turning out to be one of our worst signings ever. I'll always back any manager we hire, but I have huge fears for our club going forwards.

BB4 this is nothing to do with Thelwell.

This is purely structural and we went into negotiations under the impression that Gerrard would be willing to be part of that structure.

12 Oct 2025 13:42:15
Not one fan knows why SG walked away we may never know. What i do know and I'll say it again no manager isn't bigger than the club. We all need to move on from SG.

12 Oct 2025 14:23:26
If course it has something to do with thelwell asa, he wants to pick the players. I understand the structure asa, but i will never trust thelwell to make decisions, going by the last so called manager he brought in, not to mention the state our defence is in and the players he's signed thus far, why would I trust him? Storm I've said it many times, ill back any manager mate, but i think there doomed with thelwell picking players. I wouldn't mind rohl coming in if we got rid of thelwell, I don't trust him for good reasons. He's the biggest part of why we find ourselves in this position mate.

12 Oct 2025 14:26:25
We need to forget about Gerrard now.
The job was practically his, and he declined it.

12 Oct 2025 14:33:09
Russell Martin " best coach I've ever worked with" says it all, like BB4 I get the structure, but for me Thelwell is detrimental to that structure for the same reasons as above.

12 Oct 2025 14:33:54
BB4 Thelwell is doing the job he was hired to do nothing more nothing less.

The owners now want a coach that will do what he is hired to do not someone who feels he should dictate how the business is run.

If you truly understand the structure then you will understand that point.

Thelwell just an easy target after the Messiah said no.

For the second time in 4 months may I add.

12 Oct 2025 14:44:43
Now is not the time to debate whether we have the right sporting director as I agree that he leaves a lot to be desired.

Him personally is not the issue, he is not the reason a mediocre manager turned us down.

12 Oct 2025 15:55:04
Think what your missing Asa is his performance to date bud, not very good imho. 👍👍.

12 Oct 2025 15:56:59
Nothing more Nothing less? I would say way less, he hired russell martin who between them brought us djiga, Aarons, chermiti, Fernandes, Rothwell etc etc.
Asa there's honestly no need for the messiah stuff, who called him the messiah mate? It was just someone a lot of us prefferd. Does that mean rohl is your messiah because you prefer him, obviously not.
Your also calling Gerrard mediocre will championing rohl, who's time in management is absolutely mediocre on par with russell martin.
There's always time to discuss the person we are looking for a manager through in the first place.

12 Oct 2025 16:20:31
He probably is ASA….

12 Oct 2025 16:28:33
I don't like thelwell and I want him gone but someone else would come in his place so it would still be the same structure and we don't know why SG walked away but if it's because the position thelwell in then it wouldn't matter who was in that position he still would have walked away.

12 Oct 2025 17:41:39
BB4 he certainly is not my Messiah as he was not near my first choice.

Merely a preferred candidate in a 1v1 with Gerrard.

I believe there to be zero comparables with Martin.

I apologise for the Messiah comment but it is fact that some supporters even some on this very page used the term King.
Return of the King was the phrase.

So Messiah seems a reasonable term to use.

12 Oct 2025 18:03:27
We need to get rid of Thelwell for his judgement or Russell Martin alone. Patrick Stewart also must go. Aslong as we still have these 2 muppets at our club it doesn't matter who comes in as they will be dimmer to failure 🫡.

12 Oct 2025 18:37:25
The structure in place should be condemned Asa, it's been a nightmare, can see why Gerrard walked away as his own future in the game will be effected by the couple of clowns above him.

12 Oct 2025 18:46:21
Asathor, Please stop this mediocre manager, think we all know this mate but NOBODY gets the players instant respect or the bounce or the fans backing like Gerrard would have, that is the most important part at this present time.

12 Oct 2025 20:11:04
Asa I've certainly never called him the king, of course he's not your messiah whether first pick or not, just like Gerrard isn't a messiah for any of us. No need for apologies mate.

Storm I get what they're doing structure wise mate, but that's like saying what's the point in another manager as the structure will be the same, the point is he's hopeless at his job and needs to go.

12 Oct 2025 21:36:38
He is a mediocre manager so don't stop asathor.
We are a mess and some fans think we had a chance of winning league this year if we got SG 😂 it's ludicrous.

Also the messiah patter is true they way fans have went about SG on here and social media in general you would have thought he was the best manager to ever walk the earth.

13 Oct 2025 00:00:31
I've not used words that are even close to messiah, didn't think we'd have won the league if we got him either, so they fans weren't me.
Asa thelwell made himself an easy target long before Gerrard walked away mate, he put the cross on his own back with terrible decisions. Wanted rid of him long before Gerrard was in the frame, nothing to do with easy target.

13 Oct 2025 00:26:09
Clearly you can't read, I said we know what he is, another clueless on the point i make, thinking the league is over after 7 game only tells me what I've thought about you for a long time now.

13 Oct 2025 01:14:02
Has Rangers never won the league when nine points behind Celtic? league isn't over after seven league games, hard pull back but far from impossible.
