I don't like England, not the team, because they can be a really gd watch, Kane at the top of his game is great to watch, Bellingham's been doing really well, as I said gd to watch.
Commentary and sycophantic punditry and the "coming home" mince does my nut in, I get it, they are excited and we'd probably be going overboard to, doesn't mean I have to like it.
It spoils any game they play in for me, yes I know, mute the comms, but football without it just doesn't seem right, anno daft in some eyes, but we can't help what bugs us.
Now they face Argentina, Messi et al, they could burst the bubble, Argentinians burning the UJ is disgusting, that's not about football, that's about a brief if catastrophic war that cost many lives some 50 years ago, nothing to do with football, just used to cause rancour and discourse.
Removing emotion of the past won't happen, " the hand of God" way back when evokes a sense of revenge that will spur on the English team, that and the flag burning is Tuchels teamtalk right there.
Some want an English victory, some Argentina, who u want is up to u, both are more than capable, but if its based on the past barbarics of the theatre of war then for me the game is already lost.
Let's hope it's a great game, end to end, all out attack, there are going to be some great players on both side on display, let's enjoy it for what it really is meant to be, " The Beautiful Game"

Every time they get knocked out I can't help singing they're coming home, they're coming home, they're coming, England's coming home.

Agree fork, JFM.

I've got a £40 bet on with a work colleague that England will beat Argentina tonight. Already £50 down to him with Rangers losing the league.
15 Jul 2026 09:55:03
Sorry Me2, but I hope you go £90 down. Nothing personal against you, I will enjoy the final better if England aren't in it.
15 Jul 2026 10:07:11
Like I will enjoy it far more, if England are in the final.
Hopefully you've only lost a tenner on Sunday, Me2. 👍

I agree, the media around international tournament time are unbearable. This year wasn't so bad until the last couple of rounds.
The commentary is often a hard watch/listen, especially Shearer. It's harder to listen to than Rangers TV commentary.

Fork, I was away down south last week. I watched the first half of the Eng-Nor game in a hotel, and someone had set the TV to the audio description setting, and I couldn't work out how to change it.
So, the commentary was like the radio and no Shearer. It was bliss, and I plan on using it now I am back home. It is annoying for normal TV but was great for the football.

Don't have a problem with your view, Mystar. We're all different.
15 Jul 2026 11:22:50
The only good thing is that I was alive last time they won, so if they did win this time I would only have to listen to their rubbish for a couple of years and not another 60.

I always put the Scotland v England football rivalry down the same road as Rangers v Aberdeen. It's a very very 1 sided rivalry. Rangers biggest rivals will always be Celtic, England's biggest rivals will be the Germans and Argies. A lot of the Tartan Army and Aberdeen fans carry a rather large chip on their shoulder.
15 Jul 2026 14:07:52
I tried to post yesterday. The biggest problem I have is there is this unique thing to the other home nations regarding England.
We all pretty much have to watch English TV for every tournament and beyond. If England win, we will be bombarded with it non-stop, and it will be unavoidable.
It's a really weird situation, can you imagine the English only having access to Argentinian or German TV for the next 10 years after they win.
For that alone I hope they continue their.

Awful record.

Peterpan, the footballing rivalry is nothing like Aberdeen's wannabe rivalry. England and Scotland, even apart from ancient history, were football rivals since the game was invented. Only reason they don't think of us as rivals as much is because we're not very good anymore, and don't play them much. Doesn't change them being our main rivals. Always have been, always will.
15 Jul 2026 15:12:11
100% backing England tonight.
15 Jul 2026 15:07:58
Yes England are Scotlands main rivals always will be. Not Englands, totally 1 sided. They have a far more intense rivalry with argies. Not good anymore? They have never been gokd have they?
15 Jul 2026 15:56:39
1 million percent supporting England tonight. Can't stand Argentina. Not bothered if they win the full thing, though be more of a neutral vs Spain.
15 Jul 2026 22:26:19
So pleased the wonderful Argentina won. My first real exposure to the World Cup was 1978. My old man bought me a Scotland top (itchy AF) when we went out. Even after Archie G's score, I fell in love with Mario Kempes and the two lads who went to Spurs.
My bedroom walls were full of posters, plus my teeth ruined by the blue and white Argentina chews. 🤯🤯🙏. So that's where my fandom was born. Well done Argentina, magnificent, and glad 99% of the poster were in the support of Argentina. Here to another 30 years of hurt.
15 Jul 2026 22:30:59
Villa and Ardilles.
15 Jul 2026 23:31:50
Am I not the only one? But is there not a similarity between the English supporters and the Celtic supporters, and they both have great memories, most of which they were never even born for.
16 Jul 2026 00:18:12
That is a ridiculous take, Peterpan. Scotland and England are rivals in majority of things and always will be. I certainly wasn't, and only time I would want England to win is when they are playing the Republic of Ireland.
16 Jul 2026 09:20:32
At least the argies flag the were parading last night was the right colour for them. White of surrender.
17 Jul 2026 12:24:16
Warmed my cold, dark geart watching them getting leathrred again if I'm totally honest.
