Linked with yet more loans. Hardly screams confidence in long term vision of management especially with a system that needs months to get used to and when all these players will need replaced next season. Seems Rangers answer to Scotland not having a development plan in place is just to become a development team for English teams instead.
23 Aug 2025 16:26:43
This rebuild will need another rebuild next year it's madness.
23 Aug 2025 16:31:40
Our recruitment does seem to have quite a narrow field of vision.
23 Aug 2025 16:34:30
Kaiser my understanding was that players would be bought to fit the system the club wants to play to stop there needing to be a rebuild every year when we sack a manager. we needed a complete rebuild so to get the quality of player required with the money we have available would need a number of loans to do that.
also it may be that the club have identified a number of targets in these positions who we didn't get so rather than choose the permanent 3rd or 4th choice have a loan where they might succeed and then look for a deal next season or it might just be short-term to get su buy.
or we see players coming into last year of contract next summer who we want but don't want lumbered with a lesser option.
so many reasons I can see why we might use loans rather than permanent but honestly don't know.
so this might be part of the long term vision without being obvious to us fans. time will tell as they say.
23 Aug 2025 16:47:17
Meanwhile smelltic buy a guy that has history of scoring goals nygren ans surprise surprise he scores goals
Who are we linked to chermiti 20games zero goals.
23 Aug 2025 16:53:46
If they can be successful this season then it becomes worth it. Win the league, we go straight into the UCL. Turnover Brugge, we're in the UCL. Both options then bolster funds to go buy in the new season.
23 Aug 2025 17:00:32
Maybe john or Ehl can shed some light but are the loans not something to do with FFP. As we can only spend so much but need the players.
23 Aug 2025 17:21:23
Jasper good and bad thing depending on who wins is that the champions next season need to negotiate several rounds like we did this year to get into group stages.
23 Aug 2025 17:26:18
This rebuild we so desperately need is going to take more than one window.
23 Aug 2025 17:38:55
For all who totally doubt all our loan deals, have a read at the superb thought out post by TwistedTonic on the other page ?.
23 Aug 2025 17:54:33
Stewarty ehl has already stated we have lost out in a lot of targets.
23 Aug 2025 18:02:27
Correct Stewart's, also we have spent circa 22 million, before sale of jefte and Yilmaz.
23 Aug 2025 18:26:18
If we win the league this season we don't go straight into champions league. We go straight into europa group stages and into the knockout round of champions league.
23 Aug 2025 18:27:33
If it's Miovski and it's loan with obligation then it's no problem, straight loans are worrying.
Loan with obligation puts the cost onto next year so we can do more this year.
We are trying to do a lot in one window
We need to get to a place where we can afford to sign 2/ 3 quality additions per summer with a sale or two.
23 Aug 2025 18:44:20
We can't sign every single player on a permanent contract in one transfer window. I don't mind bringing more loans in but they need to have an option or obligation attached to them.
23 Aug 2025 18:57:11
@John, where have we spent £22 million?
Genuine question.
23 Aug 2025 19:04:48
"Loan Ranger"never felt so appropriate ?.
23 Aug 2025 19:07:02
Obligation means we have to buy. Look at the fuss about Cortes. if we do need more than just straight loan then surely an option is better.
23 Aug 2025 19:07:34
So to counter your point Angus, you stated that we are trying to sign players who suit our style. If that's the case why are we asking for time to allow these players to get used to said style?
Was always going to happen when every appointment that matters for us came from the English leagues Kaiser.
23 Aug 2025 19:08:09
I really don't understand why people think straight loans are worrying? We have to rebuild a squad with a certain Calibre of player, we can't afford to buy them all at once so loan allows us to spend decent money on some key areas and try and compete to win Titles and have a bigger budget for the following year to strengthen again.
23 Aug 2025 19:43:22
How have we managed to spend circa £22 million? 3 players at £3.5 million, Fernandez at £2million and Rothwell at £0.4 comes to around £13million . The only way it rises another £9 million is of we have spent this in loan fees and if we've done that for two duff loanees who couldn't get a game for their clubs and 2 kids one of whom also couldn't get near a first team place then those in charge of recruitment need to take a long hard look at themselves. That is just giving away cash with no chance of getting anything back and its not as if these guys are quality like a Cerny, Sima or even Tillman .
It seems that we have changed owners and changed the head of the recruitment but are still miles away from running the club, never mind the team, in a professional manner.
23 Aug 2025 19:52:05
Every loan player you have an option, just have to give the other team and player what they want, maybe not financially achievable but still an option.
23 Aug 2025 19:53:11
I have no problem with loans in general, as allows us to sign some we couldn't otherwise afford. It's the sheer number of them along with the circumstances. With a style that apparently takes time and pain to implement its just setting us up for a repeat in the future so it is shortsighted. If we're also being told we are signing players suited to the system then why are we saying they need months to learn the system.
23 Aug 2025 20:24:01
R1 we wouldn't want to buy arrons anyway so than feck it's a loan just wish we got Joe pirlo on loan.
23 Aug 2025 22:01:12
Wslgers the 22mil we have spent is the money that we have paid for the below players and also compo for Cameron as well.
Óscar Cortés
Joe Rothwell
Emmanuel Fernandez
Thelo Aasgaard
Djeidi Gassama
Oliver Antman.
23 Aug 2025 22:22:06
Slim add it up, do not forget 5 million in loan fees, plus 3 million Cortes, Aasgaard, Fernandez, Cameron, Antman, gassama. My post is euros.
23 Aug 2025 22:44:51
@john i am aware vof the transfer fees and also the cortez debt that we were due.
Where are you getting the £5mil loan fees from?
24 Aug 2025 01:22:37
Sorry only way you should do a loan with obligation is if your trying to kick finances on to next year should always be loan with solid option preagreed by player otherwise you don't really have an option.
24 Aug 2025 06:27:23
Slim of course we've got to pay the parent club loan fees mate ?.
24 Aug 2025 08:48:28
Rothwell hasn't been great and is blowing out his backside in games but how's about giving the guy a chance? Jesus wept is rothwell the new tavernier?
24 Aug 2025 08:50:36
Cooperadad tell that to tillman.
24 Aug 2025 08:54:49
I talked about this with tilman at the time fortunately our dof did a great sneaky deal on that one and we at least got something I've no problems with loans in general with option because if we do win league and go up a level then it allows you to replace players easier with higher quality but if you have too many we will have same issues you can't start everry season 4 or 5 points behind Celtic and expect to win league it would be hard enough starting on even footing.
24 Aug 2025 09:20:09
U can get them on certain sites, Djiga for example on wolves sites 2 million.
But then some folk think it's 20 k a season.
24 Aug 2025 14:08:57
Storm don't worry about result today we got over 70% off possesion lol if didn't laugh i'd cry seriously.
