I have heard today from a fan at Ibrox that Russell Martin is waiting to see if we get into champions league proper before deciding on any other new signing.
But after todays result i think we despratly need a powerful CDM, another CB and a Striker.
Also anyone know if Moore can play against alloa next saturday.

His stubborness will cost him. Arguably we were better with 10 as had to change shape. No point in breaking a press just to play the ball back again. The CMs are all over the place and 2 outta 3 playing wide. We isolate the wingers get them 1 on 1 and don't give them them ball and far too much faffing about at the back. I know its early days, but can already sense the frustrations in the support. Tough watch.

If you are i'm completely of the opposite, as the guy had to contend with 3 dundee defenders continually crowding him out all game, he had absolutely no service/ help whatsoever and not one of our players close enough to him to link with him ?.

Qualify for CL would be amazing, but our bread and butter is to win the league …. if we can't win the league then we have no chance of constantly making it to the CL. Only 2 games in and dropped crucial points …. his style of play does not suit Scottish football ? unfortunately I feel he has to go before it's too late.

Nico Raskin needs to start the Rothwell experiment isn't and won't work, Raskins value is dropping due to a manager playing his buddy. The team is suffering due to RM's hubris. Wouldn't surprise me if the wee man moves.

Not sure if Rothwell is the problem to be honest, I seen a guy who tried to move the ball quickly as instructed . I actually felt that Soutar took too long on the ball and was too close to djiga in possession, so when he played the obvious ball, the receiver was under pressure. When the team moved the ball quickly, I could see what they were trying to do. Thought the dundee boy marking Antman did a great job all day, hence Antman moving to the right later on. We continue to be poor in the air defending and attacking, if Gassama takes the early chance we win that game by a few goals. Once Aasguard, Moore and a few others come in, it's going to look different, IMO.
Results mainly change people's perspectives of games, I wouldn't say the game was drastically different from Tuesday night, apart from Dundee basically defended as an 11 man unit and took their chance.

Must admit I worry if this style Martin is trying to play is going to work. He's asking the players to wait till the last second to pass the ball and all this seems to be doing is giving teams a lot more time to get back into position to defend.
Yes I know the manger is just in the door as is a lot of players and things need time to adjust.
But I fear if he can't see that system is not working and he refuses to change then he will just be hounded out by the fans.
Especially because so much of the fans didn't want him in the first place.
I'm not calling for his job obviously I'm actually behind him.
A lot of fans though are just not going to give him a break on anything.

Baz I agree with you with regards Rothwell. He tried to move it quickly, popping up in different areas of the pitch.
For me the centre backs take 3-4 touches before passing it 5 yards to the guy next to him. No urgency at all.
The 2 wingers were desperate to run in behind constantly but our defence &midfield weren't brave enough to play the pass to release them.
Souttar played that pass once and Gas got us a penalty.

It's not players we need it's tactics that work in our league. We played Dundee who we took there best player from. The other side took their other best player. Is this going to be a season of 83% possession and beat 1.0.

Ask yourself this would kyogo or maeda have been onside at the end there and won the game for celtic? You would have to say yes.
Good Strikers win you games. he's not the only problem by any means but until we have a top striker results are not going to swing our way as much as we would like. Can moan about service all you like but if u can't control a ball or make a yard for yourself in games like this then these results happen.

My thoughts:
-We continue to be terrible at set pieces at either end, and that will kill us against a few of these lows block teams.
-a fair few times yesterday when players clearly had no idea where they were mean to be/ be going, or where their team mates were meant to be. We're still giving away cheap possession.
-souttar was really poor, giving away too many forced passes (why are we asking our CBs to try and make killer passes rather than our midfielders? ) . He looked fully at fault for the Djiga red card. We need another CB in.
-rothwell is a very sound player, but doesn't offer us much attacking threat in games like that, I think Nico would be a better option at 6 for these games.
-Nico still our best CM by some way and I worry Martin can't see it out of trying to make some kind of point which we only be to our detriment.
-Tav is still our best right back and gave us more threat than Aaron's (controversial one that maybe) .
-Dio had a horror, but not for the lack of trying.
-We need I game fit and firing Igamane at CF, or to bring in a new CF quickly.

Rothwell takes far too many touches before passing the ball. On Tuesday both wingers were isolated against the full backs but yesterday we had not only the full backs but midfielders in their space.
First time in 36 years we haven't had a win in first 2 games.

Dessers was absolutely terrible yesterday and highlighted the urgency needed for a new striker. We should be accepting a cut price deal for him.
Hold up was atrocious, couldn't make any of about 20 3 yard passes, when gassama puts one on a plate for diomande in the first half the oaf got in the way and killed the chance and then of course as he always is, he is offside by a mile when it matters.
anyone on here defending him is a victim of this clubs tanking standards.

Nobody is saying Rothwell isn't a good player, but a blind man can see Raskin offers much more in that role. I listened to RM on Radio Scotland yesterday and even he said Raskin transformed the team when he came on and 'tackled more than the whole team did all game before he came on'
Rothwell might no be the problem, but he's not the solution there with other midfielders playing so wide.

Overall, you're probably right about Raskin Fork, certainly potential wise but let's not forget until halfway through last season, he was getting slated left right and centre all over this site, i'd play both as dual sixes so the full backs have cover to give width in the middle . I think RMs strategy is sound but it needs a triangle of players to execute in pockets. 2 players passing it quickly between each other is an accident waiting to happen.

Moore can play with Gassama and Antman, it would be a nightmare for the big lumps we are up against here, Mikey is a 6 footer so he's no going to be shy. Those 3 would make defences dizzy.

Big dessers is a squad player he doesn't pick up the right positions often enough he doesn't play the offside trap well enough and his touch and all round play isn't good enough to be first choice I'm afraid.

Good posts fork, Raskin much better at 6. Maybe Rothwell does need moved forward but there is no chance he will get up and down the pitch he has no legs unless that's to do with fitness. He was the only CM that started yesterday as Dio and Cameron were AM so be really hard not to be the best.

People are assuming they know what Martin wants from a number 6. what if he wants the player to be tidy, and recycle the ball passing it to others to create angles for attacks. He maybe doesn't want his number 6 to play it like Raskin does with the forward breaking dynamism. However given his comments re Raskin yesterday we may see him in team next time.

Souttar was ok at rcb
Raskin position changed
Igamane not got sniff
And don't believe injured
Cerny gone
Souttar moved outta position so surely if your intending to play djiga at souttars position you get another left cb we got fernandez but play souttar and we paid quite a bit more for fernandez too sorry but mobey we paid is too much for a bench warmer what is going on at our club

Both his clubs before Southampton finished higher when he left and none of them did significantly better when he was there in terms of results and Southampton got relegated so took them right back to where they were so how was it WORTH IT.

I think reading all the different opinions about yesterdays game its obvious the fault lies with the head coach . Poor signings and players playing out of position in roles they either can't do or don't understand. Aarons is no better than Tav, Raskin is certainly better than Rothwell, who also doesn't seem to be able to last a full game, Diomande playing in a position that he can't do, Dowell when he plays its on the right wing.
Even with 3 wingers on the pitch he moved Antman rather than play Dowell in midfield. A high line that pushes even more people onto a crowded area and also means lose the ball and one pass opens us up . Full backs going inside into the crowded areas of the pitch all things that suit the opposition.
He said last week that the team would change from game to game because of the numbers of fixtures then didn't do it and now it sounds as if he wasn't expecting the low block . The mans an imposter and this season is done unless a very quick decision is made.

If that's what Martin wants from a 6 they we are up sh£t creek Angus. It maybe ok in Europe but it's not suited to Scottish football and don't come back with that's what McGregor does for Celtic because he does much more than that. For 1 he can still get about the pitch.
Mystar is putting words in peoples mouths as always as no one writing him off majority say he is a tidy player but IMO we need a lot more than that especially from a 6.

Fork so would I and not entering the argument on who is better but why the coach prefers a certain player to play a role in a way he wants it played. so if he want his no 6 to recycle and if what Rabbi says is true then 72 out of 73 times then Rothwell fills that role even if fans don't think he does.
Raskin wasn't playing in the number 6 role when he was criticised was he though and if so can't really be compared? I do think after his comment yesterday though that Raskin will get a chance; whether it is in no 6 or in place of Dio I can't guess
not sure if it was EHL or Martin you are calling a European qualified coach but I checked and Martin got his in 2019.

Rabbi and the MK Dons chairman is quoted as saying that Martin put the systems and processes in place which they still use and made them better. so then was he partly responsible for the team improving.

Storm i'm not comparing the players but the system and it is what McGregor does for Celtic; he gets the ball and recycles it. I reckon at least 50% of his passes are to a CB. they often just do it further up the pitch so he is getting about the pitch.
