Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

I know its early days with transfers but i'm not getting the buzz with players we're currently being linked with for me i feel we need better quality.

02 Jun 2026 06:40:06
Tam, do you not think that Lewis Ferguson?. ?
Lawrence Shankland, Dan Neil, Elliot Watt, Pierce Charles would be better quality signings, obviously Shankland has signed. ? Who would you like to see us go after that we're capable of getting within reason, mate?. ?

02 Jun 2026 07:28:54
Good post, Sir Walter. You asked a question of me regarding young Curtis, i.e. what did I feel his best position would be for Rangers. I would opt for an attacking 10 roll. He is not afraid to have a pop at goal without trying to walk the ball in. Sorry I couldn't get back sooner, mate. I hope you're well.

02 Jun 2026 07:33:23
Scottish football is going backwards in terms of attracting quality players. The standard is pretty awful if that Celtic team is a double winning side.

02 Jun 2026 07:42:39
As well as that may be, but what does that say about us then.

02 Jun 2026 07:53:50
Absolutely nothing to be sorry for, irvger. ? I also said that I think Findlay Curtis's best position is in the no.10 role, mate. ? I hope all is well with you and yours, irvger. Take care, pal. ?

02 Jun 2026 08:06:04
SWS, I am the same as the OP though. And no, I don't see the players you mentioned as filling me with optimism that they are better quality. Shankland is more experienced, but didn't score more than Chermiti. I am not Lewis Ferguson's biggest fan, having watched a good few games when he was at Aberdeen; I think there are much better out there for the money being spoken about.

So, are they better, as always, time will tell.

So, it is just an opinion as always, but I actually felt more excited when the players last year came in even though I hadn't heard of a few. Perhaps that is what it is, just a familiarity of the names being mentioned. ?

02 Jun 2026 08:30:20
Angus, hasn't Ferguson improved his game massively in Italy? When was the last time you saw him kick a ball for Aberdeen? You'll never see Charles or Niel either. You're judging players without seeing them kick a ball. I didn't have you as this type, mate.

02 Jun 2026 08:36:48
I'm sorry but for me you can't win player of the season in Italy & be wanted by AC Milan & Juventus if you don't have something about you. Italian football is very different from Scottish, though, so maybe the pace of their game suits a lot of Scottish lads, as they have all improved over there, whether they can take it bk here remains to be seen.

02 Jun 2026 08:52:02
Nice to see there are still supporters who won't be happy unless we go for the likes of Doue, Hakimi, Kvaratskhelia, Gavi, Pedri and the likes. We're not that club anymore who can attract the top quality.

02 Jun 2026 09:01:50
Interestingly, I've not seen any concrete links other than what people say on here, which I'd say we're right to take with a pinch of salt. I also think the bulk of our transfers will come from left field, and we won't have to read the names beforehand.

Let's be honest, nobody mentioned a solid link to Shankland until it broke on the Saturday night.

I don't see any situation developing where we buy the likes of Ferguson. I enjoy reading the links and I'm glad people post rumours, but I don't tend to get hung up when these don't happen, I also don't get stressed about the names being linked on a fans forum.

Sit back and enjoy the ride, I'm sure we'll be stronger at the end of the window than we are today.

02 Jun 2026 09:14:00
I'm the complete opposite, Angus. Absolutely nothing gave me any excitement going into last year, and I felt at the time it was a total disaster. I'm already far more excited, and we haven't even started yet. I doubt we will end up with many of those rumoured anyway, and they will be completely different, but I'd be happy enough if we do.

02 Jun 2026 09:40:07
Spot on, Dado, it's more as u say, people on here, seen nothing definitive either.

02 Jun 2026 09:49:46
A lot of the same names keep coming up & so far I'm a bit underwhelmed. However, the current men in charge have already shown they can keep things under wraps. I am hoping for 3 or 4 surprises after the WC.
??

02 Jun 2026 10:02:35
Look guys I get it we all want experienced Scottish players or at least players who know the script. I am with Angus, unfortunately, Ferguson didn't impress me when in Aberdeen and I accept he has approved in Italy but is that because he is more suited for that style? Would he be what we see in Italy or go back to what he did in Aberdeen?

Truth is no one knows, but I just don't see many players in Scotland that will improve us to the extent we will win the league apart from those that are playing with Celtic.

02 Jun 2026 10:11:00
Angus, I'll say this here and now. I believe we'll sign players that can play in our league and can handle the expectations of playing for our club. ? That's exactly what we need and Shankland brings attitude, ability to score goals and knows what's expected when you play for Glasgow Rangers. That's improvement right away for me. ?

02 Jun 2026 10:12:07
SirStruth, superb post and totally agree with you mate. ? ?? ?

02 Jun 2026 10:39:31
If Lewis Ferguson signs for Rangers in the summer I'll be shocked. He's a wanted man in Italy. Moving to Scotland would be madness imo.

02 Jun 2026 10:43:50
Sws, Kaiser, Geesa, I guess that is the fun of the forum. We all have different opinions, and different things excite us. As I say, it is probably just familiarity, and it is the excitement of not knowing how a player I haven't heard of will perform when he is signed.

I also think it may be that very few long-term rumours actually happen; most who are signed tend to be last minute announcements.

Good thread though, again started by Tam, as I like to hear the thoughts of others (I do honest. ?)

02 Jun 2026 10:52:07
I'm the same as Angus.
My feelings on Shankland are well known.
Talking to a Hearts fan at work last week, and he said it depends what Shankland we get.
Last seasons where he thought he was immense, but wanted to chase him out the door the season before, as he was rank rotten after not getting a move and it affected his performances on the pitch where he was half arsed, overweight and huffy on the park.
Now that could be sour grapes from a Hearts fan.
He also doesn't think Devlin is all that - he again said he was exceptional this season but nothing brilliant previously.

Dan Neil doesn't excite me either - to be honest, never heard of him. But feel he's another hyped up Joe Pirlo.
Watt was excellent in a Motherwell side that played to their strengths, coached by a manager who had them doing well. Can he transfer that to Rangers where the expectations are immense from the start?
Pierce - never seen. He's a goalie. Can you save, command his box and distribute the ball? If aye, he will do for me.

02 Jun 2026 10:58:01
I am same as Angus, not overly excited and I wanted Ferguson when he was at the sheep, but depending on the price, if it's 15 million + it would be a no for me. Bad injury, but part player since at Bologna. I wouldn't be spanking that amount on him and I honestly don't think we will sign him.

I could be wrong tho.

Window ain't opened yet, but us Rangers fans don't have patience and it was probably because Shanks was done so quick we want more players in quickly.

We aren't signing the young keeper from Sheff Wed.

I don't believe that either mph.
Good with his feet, but Butland has a better pass %. He is honking with ball at his feet. ?‍♂️

02 Jun 2026 11:23:56
A bit part player? Again with the fantasies to suit an agenda. Just at a quick glance of the last 13 games of the season, he started 10 of those, came off the bench twice, and didn't play in one because he was suspended. But aye bit part player. ?

02 Jun 2026 11:35:38
Definitely could be sour grapes, mph, as, let's be honest, they're all gutted as to how it's panned out with Shanks. As much as I think it shouldn't affect your game not getting a move, it does, they're only human at the end of the day, and it wasn't just any move, it was his dream move, so can understand, tbf. I think he was also played out of his natural position that season, and has shown again this year that if you play him in the right position he'll do the buisness. I agree with the rest of the links we've had, it doesn't fill me with confidence at all.

Think we'd be crazy to buy Ferguson for the quoted amounts, as not once in all the games I've seen him play for Scotland (which is a fair few) have I come away thinking he's a player, tbh it's been the opposite, as I've expected big things from the guy, especially with the write-ups he's been getting in Italy. The thing that's keeping me positive is that Shanks came right out of nowhere, so hopefully more to follow in that manner.

02 Jun 2026 11:56:03
Must be the only Hearts fans who didn't rate Shankland you were speaking to, mph. ?

02 Jun 2026 12:15:36
Mph, yes on Charles, soon be out of our reach.
Saying he's useless with the ball going by passing range is right up there.

02 Jun 2026 12:25:15
I agree, Wishy, because I've spoken to a good few Hearts supporters regarding losing Shankland to us and everyone of them is gutted. ☹️

02 Jun 2026 12:34:24
SWS, Correct, mate, they clearly won't be making a big deal of it, but silently spewing.

02 Jun 2026 12:38:41
If we sign all these Scottish players and Scottish league players, and don't add a bit of real quality from elsewhere, we still won't win the league, and we'll need to find another reason why?

02 Jun 2026 12:46:21
Re Shankland and Hearts fans being upset, it isn't unusual to have fanbases split on a player. I think he is a decent acquisition, but how many times have we thought that before they came, and the jersey is 'too heavy'. Trying too hard as a fan might create that issue with him, but I suspect he will handle it and is a good option to have, either first choice or back up.

But, on fan thoughts, we have had Dan Neil splitting opinion, and you only have to read this forum to see how every player does that.

I will wait and see how they get on when they are signed and playing for us. I know how a few of those mentioned have played, which might be where my lack of excitement is; nothing against a player. Would love a Butcher or another top level one where we know we are on a winner. Those days are long gone, I suspect.

02 Jun 2026 12:47:49
Where did I say the Hearts fan didn't rate Shankland?
He said he was immense this season, honking the season before. That isn't in dispute.

02 Jun 2026 13:47:46
Mols, why just last 13 games? Because it suits your point?

36 games he was in the squad for Bologna in the league. Started 17, less than half.

He did better in the Europa League, starting 10 of 14, a lot more than half.

So yes, bitpart player? As that is my opinion, but you added brilliantly to the discussion?

02 Jun 2026 14:40:53
I honestly don't see what everyone else do
es in Lewis Ferguson? He is strong, big, that's it. I'd rather have creativity in midfield than a big, hard tackler. I recently watched the tournament from HK, and the only one I thought looked like a first team player was Zeb Lawson, especially the game against West Ham.

The difference in physical stature of the players was like men against a kids' team. Thoughts on this would be appreciated.

02 Jun 2026 14:44:12
Now, now, Storm.
Don't you know it's forbidden to criticise a Rangers supporting player?
The "He's Rangers Daft" Police will throw you in jail.

02 Jun 2026 15:30:19
Need to sign Watt and Maswanhise from Motherwell.
Maswanhise is a goalscorer and can play as a main striker or on the RW, and Watt is a No6.
Ferguson will command a hefty transfer fee and wage, but do we see him coming to Rangers?

02 Jun 2026 15:32:51
That's true MPH, the fact is, though I want him but not willing to pay a ridiculous fee for him.
I just can't go, people bring up stats for 13 games throughout an entire season to try and make his point look better, and it's plain ridiculous. He doesn't bring much to the site anyway, the Mols fella.

02 Jun 2026 16:16:51
He'd suffered a major injury so it took time to recover his fitness and form. Once back, he was a main player just like before his injury.

02 Jun 2026 17:18:02
Most that I've talked to were raging about the deal he was allowed to sign, BoyBlue.
1 year with a 2 year option, meaning they got nothing for him.

02 Jun 2026 18:08:08
No wonder, MPH. Hearts obviously didn't want to stand in the way of his dream move either.
