Gassama needs dropped. guys heads been turned i think he wants away, form has been shocking lately.

22 Jan 2026 23:42:20
I don't think his heads turned he's just raw, and got very poor decision making. I agree he needs taken out the firing line for a few games to refresh though.

23 Jan 2026 00:12:53
I'll post this for a forth time I suppose. Gassama has stated he wants to remain at the club to take apart in the title charge, he has previously described Danny Rohl as a father figure.

Gassama's issue is his in game intelligence/decision making. He is a round player who is probably making decisions as he goes rather than an idea of what he wants to do. Sheffield Wednesday fans said about him that he's phenomenal but his end product is the issue. It's still the case.

Of every player in the Rangers squad if I had to pick a player to beat a defender in a 1v1 I'd pick Gassama but in terms of a shot, pass or cross he's much lower on that list.

Gassama's issue is not head turned or form. It's his decision making and execution of passing. Perfect example in the first half, tracks back, wins the ball, incredible piece of skill to beat a man, races into a 4v3 in our favour, chooses the wrong pass and executes it poorly.

Very good post AyrshireMurphy ? Gassama up until skov olsen signed was our best in a one on one situation but that will change when skov olsen gets going mate imo ?.

23 Jan 2026 06:46:39
100% Ayrshire - Gassama is more interested in getting fouls and falling over rather than actually beating his man fair and square - his final ball and decision making last night was obviously very poor- hopefully Skov Olsen shows him how a winger actually plays and when to release a pass and when to take a man on -quite honestly I would rather see Curtis staying and playing up front as he seems more level headed in front of goal and IMHO at moment gives us more than Gassama?.

23 Jan 2026 06:47:11
Gassama, s issue is fact he has poor awareness of what going on around him.
Teams know what he's going to do
He will cut inside and try shoot, never looking for better option.

Plus fact he goes down to easily, so does not get benefit of doubt from refs,
Should have learned by now, not as if he is drawing youngsters. 22 and well over 100 first team games.

23 Jan 2026 06:50:17
Gassama made some excellent runs in the game but his final ball needs improving. He has the talent and the speed, just needs refining. Thought Domande and Djiga had good games, and we controlled the game without getting the goals we deserved.

23 Jan 2026 06:55:45
His head muat have been turned after about his 1st month here then.

23 Jan 2026 07:26:19
He's miles from a consistent good player never mind phenomenal. Gassama is a head down winger who is ok at times if he has space to run into. He'll get the occasional screamer but his passing, just the basics are awful.

I don't how many phenomenal players the Sheffield Weds fans have saw over the years but if he's in that bracket I feel proper sorry for them.

23 Jan 2026 07:46:56
Don't think anything about wanting away or heads turned. Has there been any interest? As said it's decision making, that and looking to dive rather than beat a man. Been needing competition for his place to make him up his game too I think. He's a young player that thinks he's guaranteed a start. Will come good with time and competition.

23 Jan 2026 08:07:45
how many other players do we have who can beat a man and get to the byline? yes his final ball isn't the greatest but that can be taught. often he actually tries to play the right pass but executes it badly.

Kaiser is right with competition he will get better at that as he has to. anyway there seems to be enough interest in the player from other clubs that if he doesn't we will win anyway.

23 Jan 2026 08:25:18
Gassama is Matondo in disguise both are terrible, and yes he dives more than he crosses, can be taught Angus, your kidding, so why did no one teach Matondo? 2 players with the exact same problem.

23 Jan 2026 08:50:00
He's young and has a lot to learn. But clearly has ability.

His decision making isn't great.

If it was we wouldn't have him!

Last couple of games he's been way better than before, where I wouldn't be upset if he was moved on. However with good coaching and the right attitude he can be a really good footballer.

I think he'll be gone in summer as there is interest. Particularly if we take title.

23 Jan 2026 08:58:14
You think Matondo can beat men like Gassama or has more technical ability fair enough, I must be watching different players.

23 Jan 2026 09:10:43
It's up to him if he wants to learn Fork. Unfortunately Matondo hasn't but Hopefully Gas is still young enough and bit more competition will make him improve. Think the little bit of success at start made him think he's more important than he is because no one else was creating much.

The more others step up they'll demand better end product from him or he'll drop out like Rabbi.

23 Jan 2026 09:26:52
Again where did I say anything about technical ability or beating men I didn't, 2 of them couldn't cross the road, both have the same problem, final ball and decision making. Yet you post what I think show me where I said what you posted. I'll wait.

23 Jan 2026 09:28:38
I wouldn't have a problem if he went this window.

23 Jan 2026 09:32:19
he doesn't diive though. what he does is gets hos body across the challenging player, takes the contact and goes to ground, albeit sometimes easily. referees usually give fouls for that but occasionally like last night they choose not to although eh was givign them to Ludo players granted.

Fork if you think every player is born knowing how to play the game and knows how to do everything insitinctively then fine. seems odd to then talk about the need for player development if that is the case. His decision making in certain areas can be improved.

23 Jan 2026 09:35:30
Top post Ayrshire, completely agree about the game intelligence. No way is Gassama like Matondo Forky, he's fit all the time for a start.

23 Jan 2026 09:43:17
100% Fork I'd have no issues with both being moved on when suitable, more consistent players who can just pass the ball are found. Gassama's basic passing is chronic … if we're hoping he'll improve his basic passing at his age? How long has he been kicking a ball ??‍♂️ there is a good reason he left the PSG youth set up, they probably saw back then what most of us see now.

23 Jan 2026 09:50:54
how about at least hoping our players improve instead of constantly writing everyone off. if we all went by the moans and groans on here when RM was boss we wouldn't have a team left.

if Gassama can learn when to play or pass then he will be a player. i will leave it at that as i don't know if he will or wont.

23 Jan 2026 10:06:26
If you think it can be improved then fine, I don't think it can and agree with L-mac, he has the same issues as Matondo as stated other than he's fit more, why was Matondo not developed if as u say Gassama can learn then why not Matondo.

23 Jan 2026 10:44:13
the fact he managed to stay in the academy for 4 years and in fact played for their 1st team. so there are a lot of good coaches and eyes for talent at PSG who thought he had ability and potential. but fans in the stand always know better. give him support and see if he does improve.

btw there are a good few players who were in PSG academy and left without playing for them to go on and have decent careers at a decent level: Mike Maignon, Claudio Gomes (Man City), Odsonne Eduard, Moussa Dembele, Kingsley Coman (4 games but not much). they concentrated on buying superstars so not surprising many don't make it.

23 Jan 2026 11:21:26
4 years in their academy and has bad decision making and final ball issues.

23 Jan 2026 11:37:19
Oh wee afterthought, Matondo was 21 when he joined us, just saying.

23 Jan 2026 11:43:03
If he could cross and play a killer pass he wouldn't be with us. He is so raw it's ripping out him at times, he really needs to learn when to release the ball and how to cross the ball, if he can't is he gona be a regular for us? Hopefully Danny can coach it into him.

23 Jan 2026 12:37:07
Good posts fork and I agree with you mate but it's pointless as they keep changing the narrative to suit their argument.

23 Jan 2026 12:43:44
I don't think Gassama was poor last night and the reason he was going down was that he was getting fouled repeatedly and got no protection from the 3rd grade referee. He needs to improve his decision making but he regularly got us up the pitch and in the second half in particular gave the full back a tough time.

He seems to be the latest scapegoat at a time that we don't need one because we are doing well. With Olsen available we will probably see the boy rotated with Moore and that will freshen both of them up.
