Quite saddening info from EHL on divides ongoing within the squad, this is not exactly what we want to hear in the midsts of our current predicament, that of being total mince, I understand you may not be able to comment further on this EHL but would hazard a guess some are more taken with the system, instruction, training etc than others, could it be old guard v new, intriguing but not entirely surprising but utterly worrying.

It's not surprising that the players were not happy with the recruits.

Imagine being 2nd best, knowing you need to improve, knowing you need help to bridge the gap. And the club bring in bang average players that can't help, whilst losing better players.

Shota, just to be clear, the main divide in the squad predates Martin - so he's not responsible for that one.

Unfortunately though, he's somehow managed to make it worse.

Mentioned to Verdant in another thread that it's worthwhile listening to Clements recent podcast and also an interview Proper done with Twente when he resigned.

Both touch on the issues and I suspect more and more will start to drip feed out as more players leave.

I'm abit lost to this. not sure what players we lost that were better than what we brought in, imo we've a very strong squad excluding one or two areas that we need to strengthen and further more players are there to do what the manager and coaches tell them plain and simple. Some of them would last two minutes, don't like the recruitment or the system then pack your bags.

I just listened to the Clement podcast and his take on this was short; that the players were unhappy with the level of recruit. Clement spoke to the players, they took on board what he said and made an effort to better reintegrate them. Propper seems to say he didn't realise how oversees players felt when they came to Holland but moving abroad made him realise that. He says the Enschede dressing room is better. nothing overtly bad in anything either said. nothing about dressing room splits or the like. I might well have missed it.

J-zer, this is my option (stressing this) on the 'great divide'.

It's widely known that under Clement, the club was in serious financial trouble. During that time, he told a large group of players to actively seek new clubs. This sparked a major divide between those on long-standing "legacy" deals and the newer recruits.

In my view — something I've said before — once the takeover was green-lit, a section of players effectively downed tools in an effort to get Clement sacked, as they new their deals were safe.

When Ferguson stepped in, the hope was that he'd clear out the troublemakers. But he quickly realised that their numbers and influence made it impossible to do so without risking both his chance at the permanent role and the team's ability to field anything but inexperienced youth. So, he sided with them — a decision I know he now regrets.

This is the environment Martin walked into. Unfortunately, he seems to have decided that the "Clement" players have value and are easier to move on, so he's isolated them while trying to blend the new signings with the 'scabs'!

Unsurprisingly, our new signings are now beginning to sense what's been going on — and a fresh divide is forming.

Obviously, others may disagree with this, but it's what I've seen - and I'm sure if you look objectively at what's been happening you'll be able join the dots on a number of events and decisions that seem to cause confusion with a lot of poster.

EHL, in your honest opinion to what you've seen in Martin's short reign as our head coach, do you think he'll start to improve week on week and turn this around or do you think he won't last ?.

14 Aug 2025 19:40:28
The Club Captain should be the Sherrif in the Squad and changing room. Any division or animosity between players should be sorted out by him, unfortunately from what I've heard in the past he may be the biggest culprit. No one is expected to like everyone or each other, but when you wear our badge on their chest that should all be left on the training park.

14 Aug 2025 19:42:08
If that's really happening the club need to do all it can to clear out the troublemakers otherwise no manager will ever be successful with the group.

14 Aug 2025 20:01:15
I knew it wouldn't take somebody very long to find a way to blame Tavernier based on no evidence at all, but at least you aren't betting your house on it.

14 Aug 2025 20:01:51
Really zikos? So basically the same players that got pc sacked for not been good enough are now in a huff with our new recruits for not being good enough? The same players that regularly won nothing. Wonder why the results never got any better under barry if it was all pc fault. That group of players whoever they are must have some brass kneck, constantly thinking it's everyone else apart from them ?.

Not saying there won't be divisions as it has been spoken about before. However Dio just gave a rave review to Antman before he joined. Dio would have been one of Clement's signings so why would he do that to an ex-colleague if things are so bad.

14 Aug 2025 20:19:42
Ehl by "clement" players do you mean those that signed during his tenure? I noticed certain players that predated clement are no where to be seen in any training videos. Ever.

14 Aug 2025 20:24:31
There can only ever be one Alpha in the dressing room and it has to be the manager, make a couple of outstanding examples of the trouble makers and ban them from the training ground (Christ I hope it's Dowell and Tav) . Let the rest of them know who's in charge and who's calling the shots.

14 Aug 2025 20:27:12
Angus if Antman is ready to sign then Diomande is hardly going to say you have made a mistake coming here, did he say in the interview that Dio gave a rave review? I saw it but can't recall him saying words like that.
For all we know Antman and Diomande are teammates but not friends, and if your not friends with someone then you would probably be diplomatic and let them find out for themselves what the players are like.

14 Aug 2025 20:29:04
Wslgers4ever,
Im not blaming Tav, its what has been discussed before. I've been a big supporter of Tav as i'm close friends with his agent. He his however the club Captain and therefore should be the voice of calm and authority in the changing room. It's part of his appointments responsibilities.

14 Aug 2025 20:31:37
Every club has divisions and cliques, it's human nature, a good man manager will make sure that doesn't impact performance on the grass. One of RM main strengths is apparently man management. He has to be given time to fix all the wrongs and it appears that this is going to take significantly longer than what fan expectation is. The fans are going to have to be patient and trust the new owners.

14 Aug 2025 20:34:07
Onewaltwr I feel that is why Jefte is leaving.

14 Aug 2025 20:40:26
I'm not knocking anything you say EHL i'm just of the opinion that a strong leader shouldn't be long fixing that, my confusion was more around comments about players not being happy with recruitment. We lost Lawrence hagi and propper who weren't good enough balogun who was out of contract and cerny who wasn't ours. We've brought in good players.

14 Aug 2025 21:32:55
If it's me that is given the privilege to coach and manage those players and taking into account the 5 pillars mentioned.
I walk into the club and find a so called player division ongoing.
The first thing I'd be doing is sitting the existing Captain and leadership group of players down to find out what had been going on and how they managed to let this happen and continue to the detriment of themselves and the club they represent.
I'd then be choosing my Captain and leadership group wisely going forward.
The thing though that doesn't add up is that every manager seems to rave about Tav, how he carries himself in the dressing room with other players and how professional he is, including Barry they have all had no problem trusting Tav with the captaincy.
Surely if splits were so prevalent the first thing would be to make sure you had a leader to Captain who was able to pull all the players together.
I'm not saying the split doesn't exist as I have to take EHL's word for it, surely this would be addressed as a man management issue within the captaincy and leadership group, which would have been addressed by at least 1 of our many previous managers of late.
PS :
I'm as depressed as any Rangers fan with regards the performances and league results up to now but I'm hoping Russell can work it out and turn it around, although yet to be convinced.
On the bright side though, we've somehow managed to reach the Champions League playoff round.

14 Aug 2025 21:40:23
J zero you have to listen to the podcast with clement to understand. He mentions when he came in to the job the older players were not happy with recruitment I. e. the players beale brought in and sanctioned. These comments aren't in relation to current recruitment.

14 Aug 2025 21:45:39
When you consider that nsiala is no where near the first task and been told to find another club. Hamza ain't been used much. He put aarons ahead of jefte at first. All clement signings as ehl says. also barron and cortes rarely getting a chance. Very strange.

15 Aug 2025 01:18:03
He should try doing a Souness and throw a telly off a wall, that would get there attention lol.

15 Aug 2025 05:30:44
Dio and Antman plated together at nordjland (spelling? )
