Just a thought re last night. when we had to make changes in midfield the only real options we had was Dowell and Rothwell. Bajrami came on up front. the only other true midfielder was Rice and he is still just a kid. I know we have Aasgaard to come in but it has been said on here we don't need any more in midfield but seeing that last night made me think that we still need a body or two in there. any thoughts?

We need a LCH and a LB and a striker more than we need another midfielder.
Tho they are rumours that we are interested in Andy Irvine West Ham so are Celtic.

Probably 9-10 options for 3 midfield slots if include Moore and Barjami as potential options in the 10 slot. I think it might be more about the quality of some of the options available.

Midfield is not short of options one bit, below are all our options that can play there. What we really lack is a leader with experience in there.
Raskin
Dio
Rothwell
Cameron
Aasgard
Barron
Dowell
Bajrami
Rice.

Only players that's "good enough" for us at this moment in midfield is Raskin and Cameron
Dowell, Rothwell, Diomande, Bajrami all need moved on
Rice needs more game time, as does Barron.
Rothwell is so slow and seems to only pas side to side or backwards.
He has the very occasions forward pass but not good enough, especially to break down low block etc
Bigger issue is the Head Coach and his system.

We badly need a mfr that can score goals we've not had one in years and it baffles me why we haven't went for someone like this. That lot get 20/ 25 goals a season from there's, where does ours come from? Dio is starting to get to me, he just doesn't do much right, apart from his work rate but that's not good enough imo.

We also have Barron, but injuries to either Rothwell, Dio, or Raskin would leave us short.
Cameron can also play as an attacking midfielder.
Another midfield player might be an option but our squad numbers are increasing with little movement of players being moved on.

I don't think we need a Sitting midfielder. Think our issue is an attacking midfielder that can drive us up field and actually see a forward pass and score goals. Aasgard may be that person we will have to wait and see. Personally and i know is has been discussed
before wages being an issue and people think we always need a sell on fee but we just need to win imo so someone like Brownhill is the answer, yes wages are probably out of reach but he is a free agent so sell Diomonde if need be.

If we are going to play Tav and Jefte then a disciplined no 6 to try and cover them, Barron possibly the only one at the moment that could sit and be disciplined.

We badly need a coach that can get the best from players who, in recent seasons, have shown they are capable of competing and winning against the best Scotland has to offer and some top teams in Europe.
A coach that knows the Scottish game would be good. For example, Souness brought in Walter. They may not be exciting names but Davidson, Robinson and Martindale have all had success against our main rivals (and us!). There are others - even one or two who were there last year.

Barron was working on it last season under Clement.
Pretty much all our 6's are converted 8's though - Rothwell, Raskin and Rice.

EHL probably my point in that we didn't have like for like to bring on. so re number 6 it is specialised so we need to buy whilst we develop someone else to play it unless we have a young lad who can play there.
I agree with OT re Dowell and if he were played RM then he gives an option but the fans hate him so much it isn't likely. I missed Barron in the line up so didn't put him as an option. Bajrami isn't playing midfield. so our options were Barron, Dowell, Rothwell and Rice. enough in numbers bu t sufficient in quality?
