Rangers Review reporting Rabbi Matondo's return to pre-season training has been delayed due to a minor knee procedure over summer, with the winger expected back in August
This isn't great news to me. Looks like it could impact moving him on (if that was even looking likley in the first place) . Sadly I just do not see him making it with us.
07 Jul 2025 17:40:33
Yo jumbo. Another rubbish show letting a player go on international duty needing another op.
Our back room people are shocking.
07 Jul 2025 17:48:48
Oh surprise surprise, more condemnation for those at the club without knowing any of the pertinent details.
07 Jul 2025 18:02:49
EHL facts are over-rated it seems as long as it gives the chance to kick the club.
07 Jul 2025 18:06:39
Ehl r you serious. I spoke with a board member yesterday, they r not happy.
07 Jul 2025 18:15:12
Wise John usually knows what he is talking about.
07 Jul 2025 18:18:40
Serious question btw, what is happening on here lately.
07 Jul 2025 18:22:12
I noticed he was in the wales squad for 2 games but only played about 20 mins v belgium surely if he had a niggle that required surgery he should have pulled out they squads himself
knowing new manager coming in at Rangers and either fights for a place or get a move which by look it won't happen if now missing pre season an start off season.
07 Jul 2025 18:26:02
John does that board member know all the relevant details though. yes they maybe unhappy that it has happened but have they been given a detailed update from the medical team on the issue, prognosis and when the player will be back. is this just similar to the Souttar claim which proved to be untrue.
07 Jul 2025 18:30:54
Very serious John.
Fed up seeing people run down the club and was naively hopeful that some posters would have learned after the Souttar debacle.
Considering that the approach with Matondo was reviewed and signed off by Sporting Director, Technical Director (on behalf of the Sports Science Team and Recruitment Team), Medical Team and the player - it's quite a statement to claim those involved shocking.
Especially, when looked at logically it's a pretty sensible decision and clearly the best decision for all parties.
I'm sure your friend on the board knows better though.
07 Jul 2025 18:36:02
Without knowing the facts I'd guess that matondo was allowed to go and play for wales in the hope that more exposure will give us a higher chance of moving him on.
07 Jul 2025 18:39:42
Ehl may I suggest u talk to Thornton and Stewart.
They believe we could be stuck with Matondo on 28k a week for a year, then free him. That's 1.4 million
Some of the people u list were not at the club when matondo was away with wales
If u read this site you will actually know I back the club all the time, I'm accused off being a happy clapper and apologist for the board
So what am I.
07 Jul 2025 18:41:01
Ps my friend on the board does not know it all, as he states there are no paid employees of our club on here, FF etc.
07 Jul 2025 18:43:43
Angus, he should, gentlemen my rationale and stance is we pay souttar 800k a year, we pay matondo 1.4 million a year, , imo there priorities are Rangers first
Mb I'm too old fashioned in my ways.
07 Jul 2025 18:54:17
Matondo will not move unless the financial package matches the one he's on, we can wish as much as we like but I just don't see the boy taking a pay cut to suit us.
07 Jul 2025 18:55:44
We are paying Matondo 1.2 million a year, what a terrible signing. Crazy money just think how talented you would need to be to earn that kind of money in civvy street. We have been making journey men millionaires and been rewarded with abject failure. Hopefully in the future we only reward success.
07 Jul 2025 19:01:12
Bt blues how would matondo know he's only going to get 20 minutes?
unlike the souttar situation when everyone had a massive melt down for no reason, these games wales had were world cup qualifiers which may be quite important to rabbi if he wants to be playing in a world cup which doesn't happen often if your welsh.
player wants to play world cup qualifier for his national team = no big deal in my eyes. I'm sure the professionals at the club know what they are doing .
07 Jul 2025 19:35:57
I don't think I need to speak to anyone John, but once again thanks for the advice.
The decision on Matondo was driven to maximise the chances of him moving on - which by all accounts looks like it will shape up to be the correct decision.
However even if it doesn't, it was made for the right reasons at the time.
Please clarify who from my post wasn't at the club when the decision was made - I'm really interested to see that one.
Finally I think your friend is being more than naive if he thinks no paid members of the club use fan pages.
07 Jul 2025 19:37:24
Bottom line is Matondo is unfit. again. Turned out to be another truly awful signing given the wages and overall ROI.
We will be stuck with him and he will leave on a free. I doubt the new ownership group will make as many bad mistakes as those that lumbered us with expensive flops.
07 Jul 2025 19:39:06
Have to agree with John neither should have been away from their countries. The club should have told them they couldn't go. Ehl souttar still wasn't fit enough to play yesterday was he?
07 Jul 2025 19:39:42
Souttar never played in the last game at all he shouldn't have been there Tav.
07 Jul 2025 19:50:22
Does it really matter if he's injured or not he's absolutely rotten. Were stuck with him nobody certsinly going to buy him.
07 Jul 2025 20:11:19
Tav he wouldn't my point was ( if ) he knew had a niggle that was going require surgery would it not been better too pull out squad to give himself best chance of a preseason an impress his new manager fighting for his place or get a move that's just imo mate
i get that playing for his country means something.
07 Jul 2025 20:18:49
Ehl, just be careful, Thelwell arrived 1/ 7.
07 Jul 2025 20:21:00
Rusty tend to agree, but could get him on loan and get say half wages paid, he certainly won't make Europe squad, should not be played in domestic football as I'd sooner see Curtis play.
07 Jul 2025 20:28:05
The best thing we could do with matondo is roll him up in a carpet and leave him outside next to the bins.
07 Jul 2025 20:53:21
Fair better home grown option john. And again souttar not having the op when season was done is crazy considering he's mot yet fit to play.
07 Jul 2025 21:01:59
Not trying to get in the middle of an argument here, but I just want to clarify something.
John, your post seemed to suggest that EHL may not be who he claims to be — which is fine, everyone can have their opinion.
But it raises a question for me.
A while back, you made a post (which honestly surprised me at the time) where you said you'd looked into EHL and even asked someone at the club about him — and that person apparently knew him. I remember EHL responding with something like, "That's good — hope they said nice things about me, " or words to that effect.
What I found strange is that you felt the need to ask anyone about him in the first place. We're all supposed to be anonymous here — faceless users posting under usernames. It's like how people got upset when someone looked into Asathor. an tried to clarify who he was?
In that old post, you seemed to confirm the person you spoke to did in fact know EHL and that they worked at the club.
But tonight, you've said that you've been told no one employed by the club is on here. ?
That seems contradictory.
Unless I'm misreading your post
End of day we all enjoy using the site so let's not get knickers in a twist over something trivial that we have no control.
07 Jul 2025 21:18:38
Stingo he's just meaning the director doesn't know everything mate, well that's how i took it.
07 Jul 2025 21:48:17
All this bickering ? is getting out of hand, like a school playground in here at times.
07 Jul 2025 21:53:00
I know John, however you know as well as I do that he was heavily involved (with permission from Everton) in discussion and decisions within the club before then.
I can't recall the exact phrasing, but he even thanked Everton for their flexibility when he joined.
07 Jul 2025 22:37:17
It seems that posters and a club director are unhappy with the decision to allow players to delay minor medical procedures by the club. this would ahem been done with the club's best long-term interests at heart.
chances are the director knows next to nothing on the detail of this decision which is why I asked. but respectfully I would suggest that if he has a problem then the director raises it internally and not through a friend on a fans forum.
07 Jul 2025 22:52:10
Stig that's how I took it at first mate, that he was saying Ehl isn't conned red to club, but on 2nd reading few seconds later I thought he may be saying the director doesn't know everything that's going on, ie people on fans sites.
I do remember John telling Ehl to watch what he's doing, be careful, don't get yerself into bother a few times.
07 Jul 2025 23:23:02
Lads, how about leaving the bickering out of things and getting back to normal? This site has gone from being a rumours/ banter site to a site where posters are being branded as liars. Asa left because a couple of posters thought it was their place to question his credentials and even went to the trouble of 'researching' his credentials, without any justification for doing so.
Now we have others posters calling into question the integrity of others, again without justification. As Stig rightly points out, anonymity is one of the good things about these pages but that doesn't mean keyboard warriors should just challenge the integrity of respected individuals- even worse when respected individuals do likewise.
At this rate, no one will be interested in posting or even reading others posts due to the animosity on show.
07 Jul 2025 23:39:57
Still Blue
I totally agree.
08 Jul 2025 05:19:30
Spot on SB?.
08 Jul 2025 08:49:37
It is the anonymity which is the issue as well though. people feel they can post anything and not be challenged by a different opinion. that is never going to happen so posters just need to accept that.
in this case John seems to be doing exactly the same to EHL as the two posters did to Asa. that is how I read it and not alone it seems. that can't be right can it surely or is it a one rule for one and one for others depending on how respected you are on here.
all that was being said about the OP is that the full facts weren't out in public about the player's procedure. that is fact as far as I can see. so if we are going to call out wrong posts form individuals then it needs to at least be consistent.
btw I do dread writing these and possibly shouldn't get involved as I don't want to add to the bickering but feel things do need to be said.
08 Jul 2025 10:06:55
Angus I prob shouldn't get involved either but EHL is a very good poster and seems a really nice guy
And his info has been tremendous and the site is better for it
but everyone contributes in one way or another we all don't need to be ITK to contribute and be respectful
same rules need to apply to everyone if your going to question be prepared to be questioned back.
I enjoy most people posts it's the reason I use the site
But we shouldn't. Be worried about people positions and what they do etc
If you don't like what they say or don't believe them we really should all take note to scroll past and move to a post you'd rather get involved with.
08 Jul 2025 13:45:03
Stig believe me I am not in any way having a go at you for anything you write here as I agree 100%. like you I probably shouldn't get involved but I tend to dislike things like the challenge to authenticity and people being called the T word (sorry just can't even write it this annoys me so much) .
I am always happy to be questioned and have a discussion/ argument on any topic so please feel free. that can be seen as bickering but I enjoy that element of the site as I am never ITK. I agree we are all the same but there are posters like EHL and Asa who write on topics which interest me and make me want to go read more about them.
