That would my choice as well sws said that a while ago, been really impressed with him this season, our best player by far this season, fitness is a big part but more so is him playing on his stronger side, he's turning into a top cb for Rangers and was outstanding his last three Scotland games up against very talented players, get that contract signed, only on his performances for Scotland clubs will be looking at him.

He seems the obvious and maybe only candidate if we decide we don`t want the keeper to be captain. Never been a fan of goalkeeper captains personally, but wouldn`t argue if it went to Butland .

I like big soapy but as tough as he is I feel he is too quiet on the pitch to be captain. And I don't like goalkeepers being captain either.

John, that's got nothing to do with it as i'm sure like us all Ian Durrant knows that Jack Butland is the current vice captain but that doesn't mean durrant shouldn't say that in his opinion John Souttar should follow tav as captain, honestly ?I agree with durrant that i would prefer souttar over butland, as i don't like a goalkeeper being captain ?.

Just because he is our best player this season, this does not make him captain material. He is not the kind of person to shout at others, Borland is.
Tav is also not leader material in my opinion.

If captain goes ?? then the vice is next in line and that’s the way it should be. Not a massive fan of keeper being a captain but he was chosen over everyone else.

@my star Souttar does not walk into the Celtic team. Trusty and CCV are better. Just my opinion but I don’t reckon you would get £6m for Souttar which is roughly what both CCV and Trusty cost Celtic. He would get in ahead of Scales but that’s not his strongest side.

I never said he doesn’t John I don’t want Tav anywhere near the team. Souttar has been good for Scotland he isn’t as good for us. Has he had good games this season yes but he has had poor games also.
He would be lucky to get on Celtic bench embarrassing saying he walks into Celtic team no player at rangers gets into their starting 11.

Agree mojo, souttar our best CB (wouldn't be difficult right now tbh) and most certainly doesn't walk into the Celtic team.
To be clear I like soapy and he's came into a game and seems to have put his injuries behind him, hopefully goes from strength to strength.
I'd also like him as captain, butland being vice captain doesn't mean it's set in stone for him to take over when Tav leaves, there could've easily been a conversation with him stating as much.

Soapy had a great season and his last ditch defending has kept us in third place which is shocking to say, our style of play will always put our CBs under pressure when the ball is overturned in midfield or the opposing team manage to play out if we press, would not mind him wearing the armband.

Stingo, agree Barron been our best player imo. I've yet to see that raskin is better than Barron. Maybe come back in 3 month and see if he can stay injury free and has a consistency in his level of game 1st!
If he ends up better then great we'll have 2 really good young players on our hands.
