Kosta Nedeljković signing on loan with obligation at £4m apparently

18 Aug 2026 02:41:17
Villa fans seem sad to lose this guy. Looks like good business on our part. The obligation is dependent on appearances.

18 Aug 2026 06:52:59
One off the wish list.

Really like the look of this one and fits the model perfectly.

18 Aug 2026 07:10:45
I agree, Ehl 👍 Nedeljkovic looks a really good right back and could be a good signing for us. 👍🇬🇧

18 Aug 2026 07:12:40
Really good signing. He has all the attributes to really progress.

18 Aug 2026 07:18:48
Like this signing but do hope his injuries are behind him.

Also, good to help big Drago settle quicker and maybe another Serb!

18 Aug 2026 07:21:35
The injuries are a massive concern.

At least it's only a loan with the conditions he has to play x amount of games for the obligation to be triggered.

18 Aug 2026 07:41:17
2 knee injuries and a back injury in the last 3 years. From what I can see, his injuries were over 187 days across 2 seasons, with 34 games missed (23/24 & 25/26). Does that indicate someone who is injury prone? Not at all! If he was injury prone, and a concern, he'd be out with little niggly injuries throughout the year, season on season.

Again, from what I can see, he was injury free throughout the whole of the 24/25 season. Think Sterling, Jack, Roofe, etc, and then you have a truer definition of an "injury prone" player.

18 Aug 2026 07:52:17
All best if he signs.

187 days = 26.714 weeks, that's a few games missed.

18 Aug 2026 08:00:33
I read the obligation depends on playing a set number of games. Which hopefully protects is a bit grim that injury history.

18 Aug 2026 08:20:48
Injuries don't ever concern me. Anyone could tear their ACL tomorrow.

3/4 starting back 4 could be on loan - again. Means we won't sign a centre half now unless we sell Fernandez.

18 Aug 2026 08:22:51
Bigbluejim, not disagreeing with you but I've seen this thing about helping Dragojevic settle more than once and I don't think he's looked like a lad who needs much help with that, might be the other way around at this point.

18 Aug 2026 08:25:48
Scouting department seems to have had a kick up the back side. I'm really liking these past two signings. Think, with Shanks, Devlin, Mcrorie, Neil, they are squad fillers and we would have been paying same amount of money or more for players that wasn't ours on loan. Smart business so far.

18 Aug 2026 08:35:59
Honestly, it might not be the scouting department's fault. They might be giving the club a list of great players to sign, then we can agree with the players' terms or the selling club. It's not always the scouting department's fault.

18 Aug 2026 08:39:59
Maybe it isn't the scouting department having a kick up the backside. Maybe it's people actually listening to the scouting department.

People don't appear on scouting reports then in the club overnight. These lists/reports will be curated over many months and years.

I'm also not overly concerned about previous injuries, especially these kinds. Could happen to anyone. Yousef hadn't had any and now he's got an ACL and is out for a year. I'd be more concerned about 30 minor muscle issues than 3 bigger mechanical injuries.

18 Aug 2026 08:46:38
Just a bit of info as I did a bit of research into the boy last night after mentions of injury prone etc.

This info could potentially be wrong, so don't take it as gospel, but from what I can see.

He missed 5 games through a back injury last season, as well as 11 games through a "stress" knee injury. 2 seasons prior to that, he missed 18 games with a different issue in his knee.

Stress injuries essentially come through over-use of parts of the body and are common in youth players as their body is still developing. He also went from youth football pretty quickly into the professional adult game, and moving on to the EPL and the demands in that league.

He's also made 11 appearances for the Serbian national side, so the demands placed on his body when he's only 20 could be a reason why the injury happened at RB Leipzig.

Leipzig also had a EUR15m buy option and we've managed to negotiate that down to £4m obligation based on appearances, which is a very smart piece of business.

He's also managed appearances in 6/8 preseason matches for Villa this summer. Not putting him in the injury-prone bracket yet, and he is a very exciting signing.

18 Aug 2026 08:56:03
Ehl, one of your wish list down, hopefully a baldy Czech winger will be the next one. 👀

18 Aug 2026 09:15:48
Good signing, good business by Rangers. Who'd a thought we'd be saying they words?

I actually don't want Cerny back. I'm all for wee Yakota!

18 Aug 2026 09:19:16
What does this mean for Sterling? Will he be used as CB cover, giving our CB 4 as Godfrey, Sterling, Fernandes and Makhanya. Also McCrorie can fill in at CB if needed.

If Sterling isn't sold now then I don't see us buying another CB.

It's now RW, LW and ST we will go for, can't see us doing any more business on incoming after that unless certain players are moved on and positions need filled.

18 Aug 2026 09:48:36
Zungu, why would Drago help him? This lad has been at Villa for a bit, and out of Serbia since being a young lad. Drago has just left Serbia for the first time, so it would also be good for him having a fellow Serb here. That's why you'll have seen it mentioned, I'm guessing.

18 Aug 2026 09:55:13
Can only help Drago and Kosta settle, we live in a right mess of a country, every little helps.

18 Aug 2026 09:58:11
Good for the both of them to help each other, bbj.

18 Aug 2026 10:38:04
Maybe Kosta and Drago don't like each other as both played at rival clubs haha.

18 Aug 2026 11:16:39
Most footballers aren't the same as fans, Rangers and Celtic fan players are all pals at English clubs etc that they play beside each other. They will have played at Serbian youth set up together as well, I'd imagine.

18 Aug 2026 11:40:29
I'm sure they will get on great, I'd like a few more players that neck of the woods, must be a centre half, striker and winger we could get our hands on at a decent price, not liking the idea of spending over £8 million on a project winger and this moment in time, we need quality addiction now.

18 Aug 2026 12:24:19
Agree, mate, if I got my way after this rb from Villa, it would be, Kelsy as the ST, Cerny as the winger, and LW from somewhere on same level as Cerny.

18 Aug 2026 13:14:54
Cerny chat again, page is turning into Groundhog Day. A new right winger better get signed quick and out this chat to bed at least til January, anyway.

18 Aug 2026 13:24:59
Really liked the look of that Kelsy Wishy, looks an all rounder, as much as I'd prefer an older style natural winger rather than inside type. Cerny would please me as knows the drill already, and I'd say less risk.

Being greedy would be nice to get a winger that can cover both sides haha.

Sorry, Billy, apologies for talking about player we would like on a rumours page.

18 Aug 2026 13:32:56
Wishy Bear, I'm telling Cerny's wife about you. 🤣

18 Aug 2026 14:22:02
More injuries than Godfrey wonder if people will call him injury prone on the podcasts.

18 Aug 2026 14:47:06
Farlo, I know I am a broken record mate. 😂

18 Aug 2026 16:01:04
Yeah, was the point I was trying to make tbf, Wishy, will be good for both no doubt about it.

18 Aug 2026 16:29:40
100% bbj.

18 Aug 2026 17:57:13
Bigbluejim, I don't particularly think the lad will need help settling, but from what I've seen of Dragojevic, he looks a very confident young man. I can see why he was made a captain, the way him and Makhanya were celebrating our goals was encouraging to me and I don't think it's going to be an issue to a guy like that who's around him and where they're from. It probably doesn't hurt to have a fellow countryman either way, but it was actually positive to watch the guys at the end on Sunday.

Yokota didn't look out of place because he's the only Japanese and that's further away than Serbia lol. Generally very stoic people compared to us Brits, they'll be just fine.

Raskin actually looked a passionate captain revelling in his job after years of Tavernier, they actually all looked like pals if you leave Fernandez out of it. I'm looking forward to more now.

18 Aug 2026 18:25:21
Zungu, I was loving the way Drago was punching the ground, annoyed with himself, and the passion he showed when scoring that absolute worldy. 10 more of that and we'd be unstoppable. I do agree about Raskin, and he was always my pick for captain, but I guess the uncertainty over will he stay or go meant he missed out.

That can always be changed down the line if he wants to stay and signs a new deal.

Distance wasn't my point. Yes, Yokota is from Japan, but he wanted to move to Europe and did so at an early age, so he will be used to adapting quickly, but like you say, having others of the same nation will help.

19 Aug 2026 01:09:34
Bigbluejim, if Dragojevic doesn't settle and he turns out to be pish, then he's at least assured himself Bert Konterman status with that one. It was positively offensive how they kept saying Mochrie's was equal to it lol.

19 Aug 2026 10:29:11
Hopefully he kicks on to his full potential n we get the best out him.
