Daily Record saying we have ended any pursuit of Jens HjertΓΈ-Dhal. Has this been confirmed by the Club?
30 Jul 2026 20:18:43
Nonsense clickbait article by Andy Newport.
McInnes never said Dahl was off or named a replacement. He simply said Rangers won't wait forever on any one deal and are continuing to recruit. Nothing in the article suggests the door is closed on Dahl.
If anything, it confirms Rangers are doing what every club should be working on multiple targets at once.
Poor journalism. I expect no less from the DR.
30 Jul 2026 20:22:22
Don't think the club would formally say anything but would make sense we have cooled our interest given the current squad balance and transfer priorities, although doesn't mean things won't change later in the window if the chance is still there.
Noted McInnes saying RW next priority, and also 2 more defenders, of which one to be left sided. What we thinking, Markelo, Ndaba and Skoglund?
30 Jul 2026 20:25:40
Took the words right out of my mouth, Laudrup.
30 Jul 2026 20:32:04
I think they're writing what the rest of us expect, we're not getting him.
30 Jul 2026 20:16:25
Not sure it was confirmed by the club that we were definitely in for him?
30 Jul 2026 20:32:40
I honestly don't think we'll be signing Dahl now unfortunately. βΉοΈ
30 Jul 2026 20:46:08
They're also reporting we're waiting on Bologna to have talks with Lewis so we know if we can get him or not.
30 Jul 2026 20:46:36
The club aren't going to confirm we are or are not in for a player of another club until he's doing a Medical.
We're certainly not going to tell the Daily Record.
30 Jul 2026 21:06:44
Huey, Skoglund looked very good, only watched about 20mins, but he was good defensively and in attack. Just watching the last 15 mins now, 1-1.
30 Jul 2026 21:49:00
I don't think we will but Jhd.
30 Jul 2026 22:28:03
Dhal substituted after Tromso looked out of Europe going down 3-1, probably means nothing, but who knows?
30 Jul 2026 22:45:00
I suspect they may be correct.
30 Jul 2026 23:00:01
Is it more specifically that Rangers currently are not looking to add to their (central) midfield area, as financially (or not). Until Raskin is away, you'd be adding another body there. So who doesn't start/in squad matchday to accommodate an extra (central) midfielder.
No concrete bids in for Raskin as per McInnes' presser yesterday.
30 Jul 2026 23:36:59
Ehl, are u hearing similar?
Is that tied into Diomande staying?
I had the worry that those were going to be tied when I seen Diomande's comments yesterday morning from his interview previous day.
I'm sorry, but I have to call McCinnes out if it's his decision, and say he's made his first big mistake here. Well, look back on this as a club and be scunnered as to why we didn't see this deal through.
And if not McCinnes, then Stig and Purdy are making a howler here.
How can we want him in January, shake hands, bid in summer twice, agree personal terms to the point the players watching Old Firm dvd's and saying he only wants Rangers, and then simply decide we don't want him.
This is terrible professionalism by the club towards Tromso and towards Dahl and his agent.
We'll be lucky to get another player out of that league in future through this s*** show.
If this is the case I will be scunnered with the club.
30 Jul 2026 23:47:55
Dahl would have been a great signing.
31 Jul 2026 00:05:11
It's like knocking back a 20 yo Odegard or Erickson.
Or in wider terms it's like knocking back a young say Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, I cannot fathom this.
Typical Rangers though.
Bigger mistake than losing out on Diomande, just signed for Real Madrid.
If he stays at Tromso he'll be away in January or Portugal's top 3 or Leipzig, Dortmund, Lille, Monaco, Marseille, PSV, Brentford, Bournemouth, hope to god not Celtic.
They'll come in and snap him up out of total spite btw.
π π± π± ( breakdown). π€¬ π
31 Jul 2026 00:09:48
Stevie, we have only put 1 bid in to my knowledge. McInnes has already said no to 2 OoCs & a CB in favour of Godfrey (still don't understand why we couldn't have both), so it's possible. I really hope he's not doing a Martin & refusing targets or taking too long to decide to get his way.
We really need someone in midfield to contribute with goals & assists, as Asaagaard can't do it himself. Dahl would provide the goals. Too many of the same type midfielders again.
31 Jul 2026 00:34:25
DJB, you're in the button, mate, look at Man United or Arsenal.
Beckham Keane Scholes Giggs.
Freddy Vieira Petit Overmars.
All different skill sets, man.
Rodri De Bruyne Silva.
Gerrard Alonso Hamman.
Or Rangers.
Reyna (Kanchelskis).
Barry (McCinnes funnily enough).
Gio (Tugay).
McCann (Albertz).
All different skill sets, and one of each so one winger meant other side was mf like McCinnes does.
Only possible acceptable outcome here is signing Lewis Fergusons and I'll still be fuming.
31 Jul 2026 00:38:00
If he's such a super star, why is it only us and Cardiff bidding Erickson and Odengard behave? Why not in the Norway squad, surly they must watch him, but people no better because of YouTube or watched a game. He might very well be a super star in the future but he's definitely not the now.
31 Jul 2026 00:43:27
I've only seen Dahl play in a couple of games, but if he's as good as some are making out in here, why aren't bigger clubs interested? I'm not saying he isn't good, just asking why he's not been snapped up now by someone, as the teams who seem to be linked are Cardiff and us.
31 Jul 2026 00:45:37
12 ots, my honest opinion, bro.
I'm entitled to it, and you're entitled to disagree.
I think he'll be better than Odegard and Erik Son.
Maybe not Gerrard, diff from the English names, he's like Yaya Toure, mate, when he was balling at City.
Can defend, tackle, head, pacey, seriously skilful, dribble, long pass, links up 1-2s, scores screamers and tap ins.
He's out of this world, mate.
How did we get Igamane?
Or Gattuso?
Celtic got Larson and we got Numan and Gio, Mols etc.
It is possible to get players u really shouldn't get.
He's world class in the waiting.
6"4 pacey skilful scored passes defends box to box.
As I say, mate, go watch his clips, even just 20 mins worth, and u will see why I say Yaya Toure.
31 Jul 2026 00:56:58
We signed Numa. Cause he shook hands with Advocaat to come with him.
After World Cup Barcelona water him and he said no cause he gave his word and shook hands.
We got him before the big guns seen him.
Look at Mols too.
Gio and Tugay.
Them with Larsson or look at Moravcik and Petrov, Boruc.
Good players can be unearthed if not football would be rubbish with same outcome every season.
City.
Liverpool.
Arsenal.
Chelsea.
Utd.
Spurs.
Villa.
West Ham.
There would be no Leicester etc.
Where did Ngolo Kante come from? French 2nd division.
How nobody want him or mahrez or vardy? Or Osaka?
Or what about Pirlo?
Harry Kane?
Players all over come from nowhere mate.
31 Jul 2026 02:46:39
@The12th, I watch Scandinavian football. It's a poor decision if we haven't gone for Dahl. Also, other clubs are interested in him. Lille and Bologna were two, Eintracht Frankfurt were another, there was a Belgian side too, but I can't remember who it was. That's twice you've said a negative comment and referred to fans only using YouTube.
I explained in the last post that you were nagging on as to why he wasn't in the World Cup squad and other digs you made. Players all start somewhere. Just because Man City, Real, or Bayern aren't in for Dahl or any other young talent, doesn't mean they aren't actively watching the players' growth.
31 Jul 2026 03:52:31
Lovenkramds, I explained to 12 the other night. Igamane, Raskin, Manny, Chermiti weren't internationals when we signed them.
He's totally not got a grip on reality. See, if Dahl was a full international, we couldn't afford or attract him.
Can I ask u. Do u think he'll be better than Odegard and Erickson, or am I going too far, mate? Don't mind a no here, mate.
31 Jul 2026 06:15:56
We did the same with the now Β£100million attacking midfielder who's now poised for Real Madrid. βΉοΈ
31 Jul 2026 06:33:13
Stevie, it's not Mcinness's fault if no one wants to buy Diomande. It's not FIFA career mode, mate.
31 Jul 2026 07:31:45
No, Stevie, McInnes has always wanted Dio to stay. I posted in the first week or so after McInnes joined that he was keen to talk someone who was close to leaving into staying.
Also, I've been saying for the full window that there is no bidding war for Raskin and there will be no bidding war for him.
We are keen on Dahl, but nowhere near as desperate to sign him as being made out. The club's priority was always a 6, and that has been Neil and Drago since January.
31 Jul 2026 07:40:58
Ehl, given we have also signed Devlin, does that mean McInnes sees Neil as more able to play as an 8 as well?
31 Jul 2026 07:47:08
Dahl is a good young prospect, no one knows how good he could be, it's just a guess.
Also, watching 20min clips and say he is like Yaya. π€¦ββοΈ YouTube/clips can make most players look good. Stevie, I respect when you like a player you go all in, but calm down, mate.
1st it was Ferguson and now Dahl.
Getting Dahl or not will not make or break Rangers Football Club.
Coops, the boy that's going to sign for real, was not our fault, the agent wanted too much in wages for a 16 year old.
31 Jul 2026 07:56:13
Can't believe clubs are not lining up and fighting to pay the Β£30m quoted on here for Raskin. π
31 Jul 2026 07:58:27
For me Dio flatters to deceive. Couple of spins & pirouettes per game without ever really accomplishing anything plus he always has a couple of mistakes in him. Gives to ball away too easily. Surprised McInnes rates him.
EHL - from the No bidding war comment that must mean Raskin destination is set? If so why hasn't it completed yet? Waiting on other events?
31 Jul 2026 08:12:02
Would really like him too, StevieG, but what do u do when u already have a team full of CMs and nobody is buying any of them? Folk just presumed we were selling Raskin and Dio etc for Β£30-40m. As he said yesterday, the balance of the squad is nowhere near what he wants, so has to prioritise other areas like wide players and the defence.
31 Jul 2026 08:23:11
Stevie G, could you enlighten those of us who don't watch Tromso as to the strengths and weaknesses of his game? To state he will be better than the legendary players you have cited - wow! He must be absolutely top drawer.
31 Jul 2026 08:16:36
Has there been any real interest in Dio EHL? Not hard to convince someone to stay when there's been little interest.
31 Jul 2026 08:25:15
According to the guy that many say talks rubbish, (he was bang on when he said Ferguson was nowhere near close), 2 defenders, 2 right wingers. No plans to add another midfielder.
Bash away, but before you do, have a look at those who have been miles off on here and hold everyone to the same standard. If he talks rubbish? What's the saying if the cap fits!
31 Jul 2026 08:35:01
Stevie G is heartbroken, leave him be. πππ
31 Jul 2026 08:40:21
EHL, can I ask a genuine question? This isn't a dig, as your posts are one of the reasons I continue to read the rumours page.
Last night, when the OP reported on the DR article that Rangers had ended their pursuit of Dahl, you replied 'I suspect they may be correct.' Given your reputation on here, I think a lot of us naturally took that as a fairly strong indication the deal was effectively dead.
This morning you've clarified that Rangers are still keen on Dahl, just not as desperate to sign him as some are making out.
Looking back, do you think your post last night perhaps gave the impression that Rangers had walked away altogether, when what you really meant was that the club might not be prepared to meet Tromso's demands, and are also focussing on other priority positions?
I'm only asking because your posts understandably carry a lot of weight, and that one sentence seemed to send the thread into full panic mode, as well sending Stevie's blood pressure to dangerously high levels.
Your update this morning paints quite a different picture, so I'm just trying to understand the nuance rather than catch you out.
31 Jul 2026 08:42:04
In truth, I think Drago is the better prospect and fit.
But it's typical of us. We just never sign the players the fans want. Never seems to go that way.
It's probably dead, but small hope remains he will be a big talent.
31 Jul 2026 09:01:05
We never sign any game changers, GDog. I understand is needing to be more solid throughout team, and I think that's been addressed, but 1 or 2 quality players still needed.
On Diomande, maybe he will flourish with the right structure behind the ball and a no6 that will hold his position.
Allow him to press higher up, which he is good at. He might actually have a role rather than being expected to do a bit of everything.
We can't sell everyone.
31 Jul 2026 09:13:57
Laurdup, I get what you are saying - so hopefully I can explain, as things aren't always black and white.
Dahl and Ferguson are potential signings that are very similar in some ways and very different in others.
Both are players we rate, and both are players we have explored signing - however, the signings, given the values, are dependent on a number of factors for all involved.
For Ferguson, the conversations between player and clubs were straightforward, and the deal is on the table and achievable.
For Dahl, the conversations between all parties have been anything but straightforward and no deal is on the table - so I wouldn't be surprised if we've backed away (as per my post).
31 Jul 2026 09:33:41
Again it's a rumours site, people can and will be both right and wrong, if u expect more then look elsewhere.
31 Jul 2026 09:41:00
Makes complete sense. Thank you EHL. And thanks for taking my post in the spirit in which it was intended.
31 Jul 2026 09:55:01
You're bang on, Fork, but if they dish it out? What's good for the goose, if you call other folk out and claim they talk rubbish, then all is fair in love and war. Nobody is beyond fair criticism, no one. I'm sure you, being level headed, agree.
31 Jul 2026 10:05:10
Let's wait and see, as I'm still told we've not moved away from any Dahl deal, and he's a player we want and need, so time will tell.
Soon enough.
Ferguson very unlikely this year, but discussions were definitely had.
31 Jul 2026 10:13:02
Me level headed? I'm insulted. πππ€£π€£
31 Jul 2026 10:23:07
Would love Ferguson or Dahl, but always thought that either of these would be based on who is sold (or I should say Raskin).
There have been a few rumours about clubs interested in Raskin, but they haven't come to much. If there was a bidding war, we would know about it (not from the club but the other sides).
Also, I think Raskin may not be interested in certain leagues, so that could be that too.
Think this will go to the end of the transfer window, and therefore we will probably lose out on these 2. I'm sure there are other good targets being monitored, not just them.
31 Jul 2026 10:36:30
From what I've heard, it isn't that we're no longer interested, but we're not planning on increasing our bid any more at this point. The player wants to come, and we've offered what the board thinks is fair. The days of the manager and director of football being able to be fully autonomous aren't really there anymore.
If the board thinks we're overpaying, they'll say so.
Unless he changes his mind, the Cardiff offer isn't doing much for him, so not impossible it gets revisited later in the window.
31 Jul 2026 10:40:40
I agree with both of you, Iron and Fork, but I think there is a small distinction.
Most posters share rumours they have heard or read, some from people connected to the club, some from people involved in football or businesses close to football and some from mates in the pub. This is what makes this site awesome, and every post should be open to challenge, debate and ridicule.
However, there are a small number of posters who I believe are deceitful and post rubbish under the guise of being ITK. I know many posters will hold me in that bracket. Many of these posters seem to take the huff when challenged and act as though they are above challenge, which really undermines the value of the site.
31 Jul 2026 10:53:36
Thanks, EHL, very insightful as always.
You're one of the most valuable posters on here, in my opinion, and I always look forward to reading your take on things.
31 Jul 2026 11:40:32
I have never seen Dahl play, other than a few clips of goals scored or his missed penalty last week, so I can't make any judgement on the player.
I do think some fans have gone on YT, seen a clip or too, and have created a vision of some world beater (perhaps he will be) and now are becoming obsessed over a player I don't think will be at Rangers, and this in turn makes fans then think any other signing will not be Rangers class.
We need to give actual signings a chance, not go writing players off before they kick a ball. Devlin is a prime example of this.
Trust those that are in charge are doing what's right and they are doing what they believe to be in the best interests of the club.
31 Jul 2026 11:42:16
EHL, thanks very much for the informed reply, mate. I apreciate it. ππ»
31 Jul 2026 11:56:24
Aye, the bidding war for Raskin. He did nothing last year, and the World Cup won't change that - 12-15 max, and we should be happy. This also highlights another issue we have, and it's been happening for years. If we want to sell players, lower the expectations. Too many want top dollar and it ain't happening. Still waiting on Manny going for 20m.
