I heard a rumour he will meet with McInnes whilst back in Scotland. Suppose that would indicate the "close" rumours. The plan is in front of him, captain, etc. Player will ultimately decide but I think his wife and 2 young kids would fancy a spell in Scotland. ;)

Not at all. Both signings of Shankland and McCrorie were mentioned on here long before Chris Jack mentioned it. In McCrorie's case, it was probably weeks before.

Wishy, everyone comes out of nowhere from what I remember. The 3 so far were only known a day or so before. It was the same last 2 windows. So, I can understand Iron's scepticism on this when the site has been reporting for weeks, or is it months now, on certain deals. They may well happen, but it hasn't been the style so far. ?

Unless it's a straight swap, I honestly think it's a terrible idea for us to be paying £15m for any individual player. Never mind one that's about to turn 27 and will probably have limited resale value (can't see him getting more valuable when playing in the SPFL).
I like Ferguson a lot. But the time to get him was when he left Aberdeen for c£2m. I don't think we'd be doing the right thing dropping 7/8 times that on anyone in a good year, never mind one with no prospect of Champions League.

£15 million plus add ons is selling Raskin on the cheap. Nottingham Forest had a £25 million offer turned down for Engles, who wasn't picked for the Belgium World Cup Squad. Raskin is a superior player than Engles.

Yo-Jimbo, whilst I agree there is little resale value, not every signing needs to have resale value, but on the flip side if he comes in and is undisputed POTY, wins the league and cups, then he adds to his value and would still be the right side of 30.
But nearly 27 is entering his prime. That's not old now with players playing late into their 30's.

Jimbo, if we win the league with his help, and get to the CL league stage, then the money from that will be proof it was a good deal. Signing fee is just one part of the equation. Plus, Lewis would run through walls for the club, just like you, or I would for the club.

Chris Jack seems to be a heavily reliable tap in merchant these days.
Godfrey was first spoke about by Italian Journalist, McCrorie was an English journalist. Chris Jack and RR quickly latch on to reliable sources and put stories not as quick as they can.
