Thoughts also go out today to Danny Mcgrain who was diagnosed with alzheimers. A fantastic footballer who was in the same school class as my oldest brother.
Best wishes to him and his family.

Absolutely JFM πŸ‘well said mate πŸ‘πŸ‘danny mcgrain was a fantastic full back and my thoughts go out today to Danny and all his family and friends πŸ™ it's a terrible illness so it is πŸ˜’πŸ™.

Danny migrain best ever fullback in Scotland history just shaded Sandy Jardine.

15 Sep 2026 17:38:29
Sorry to hear about Danny, they don't make fullbacks like him anymore.

15 Sep 2026 17:40:00
close run John but have to agree. horrible illness, lost my sister in law to it this year long before she should have been taken.

15 Sep 2026 17:41:09
What a player.

15 Sep 2026 17:43:44
I've met Danny not only a great player a lovely guy.

15 Sep 2026 17:59:35
Very sad to hear that, great player and ambassador of the game.

15 Sep 2026 20:19:30
Sorry to hear that geesa.

15 Sep 2026 21:00:34
Thoughts go to a legends family and friends, terrible disease.

15 Sep 2026 21:23:11
Best thing about him is that no one could have a bad word to say about him. Outstanding footballer and absolute gentleman. Great ambassador for Celtic and Scotland.

15 Sep 2026 22:07:55
Echo those sentiments guys. Am I right in thinking Mr McGrain was a Rangers fan growing up.

16 Sep 2026 03:37:13
JFM, I was Lead to believe Danny went to Kingsridge in the drum. Baz, if I have his school correct, more than likely he was a bear.

God bless a legend X.

16 Sep 2026 06:13:43
Absolutely correct white horse. All 5 of us all went to Kingsridge. As did John Mcdonald and Kenny McDowell who was in the same year as me. Think Andy Gray went there as well. He used to play football with the kids when he came home to visit his mum who lived across the road from us in lillyburn place.

16 Sep 2026 08:05:16
Great player & a great guy. Used to see him visit his family in Airgold Drive in the Drum after he broke into first team. Always had time to speak with us & have a kick-about in the street. Best right back Scotland ever produced imo. Wishing Danny the very best.

16 Sep 2026 10:02:53
Known Danny for a long long time, haven't seen him in many years but I have friends who have spoken with him regularly, I believe Jim Craig also has the disease too, I'm slightly biased John but my number one will always be Sandy, both fantastic men who epitomised their clubs and real men.

16 Sep 2026 09:51:48
Danny McGrain was a fantastic right back for Celtic, but I recall he was asked to switch to left back for a couple of games and still was tremendous there - what a player.

16 Sep 2026 10:26:51
Danny was a fantastic player, remember him well toward the end of his career and it just seemed like he would go on forever. This terrible affliction he has is horrible, hope he keeps as well as he can for as long as he can.

16 Sep 2026 10:54:15
Great player and man always had time for fans. Reckon Danny and Sandy best full back partnership Scotland have had.

16 Sep 2026 11:35:48
Danny mcgrain and Davy Hay presented my winners medal when Fife Wanderers won the Glasgow cup. Great guys.
Think Danny said they called them the quality street gang..cos they paid them sweeties. Great defender.

16 Sep 2026 12:12:42
100% get that Tom, what sway it for me Danny played rb and lb with great aplomb.

16 Sep 2026 12:23:58
Had the pleasure of meeting Danny in the early 70s When my local under 14s, I was 10, done a tour of both Celtic Park and Ibrox, He had a wee smile on his face when he noticed my Rangers badge on my jacket. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§.

16 Sep 2026 13:39:13
Mcgrain & Jardine the best full backs this country has seen.
