What's our thoughts on Rohl then. Stick or twist?
08 May 2026 17:46:24
I don't want to sack him but if he left to go to Wolfsburg I wouldn't be upset either.
08 May 2026 17:50:53
I'm of the same thought, Wishy.
08 May 2026 17:56:21
If we twist, recruitment won't be set back, but the way we play will be. If Danny does indeed leave for family reasons, then you can't blame him, but hope he is here next season.
08 May 2026 17:56:54
Yeah same here Wishy, not saying he couldn't do well with pre season behind him and a few players, but I think this team needs someone that they will run through walls for. We wait and see what unfolds.
08 May 2026 18:00:56
What way do we play, Davie? I am struggling to see our style under Rohl.
08 May 2026 18:11:29
Am 50/50 on Danny. ✌️ ✌️
08 May 2026 18:18:49
I would not sack him, but if he wants back to family, how do we force him to stay?
08 May 2026 18:33:17
I think that's what it boils down to, John. Missing his family is key. They are still over in Germany, aren't they?
08 May 2026 18:34:56
John, my question is why did he sign in the first place if family is supposedly now his main concern?
Could it be that, now things are not going wonderfully, he's now thinking maybe it's better if I just bail out and go back home and contemplate in the bosom of his family.
I honestly hope I'm totally wide of the mark because I like the guy.
08 May 2026 18:41:39
Unless he's telling lies, Rohl currently not wanting to leave Rangers, John. ?
08 May 2026 18:44:54
I'm not getting it. His family have always been over there, don't get why AC would get Rohl in on that contract if there was an increased risk of him moving for family reasons. I couldn't blame the guy for wanting to & being bk or closer to family, but I'd have to suggest that AC would have f***ed up again, as that would leave us right bk at square 1 & managerless at the worst time with such a recruitment drive & squad shuffle to get sorted in a short space of time, esp with the World Cup being on.
08 May 2026 18:47:32
He'll have a buy out clause of sorts and so will his team. We could command around £5m probably, that's a good deal for a man who many want to sack and who may well be gone by new year anyway.
08 May 2026 18:49:14
Jim, perhaps he was happy to try it before but now his feelings have changed re his family. Maybe he's finding it harder than he thought when he signed. Folk do change their minds. Anyway, seems like he's happy and it's not an issue anyway according to his presser.
08 May 2026 18:55:11
I thought he was pretty non committal at the presser today and gave stock answers, concentrating on Rangers, rumours in the past about job offers that were not true blah blah.
08 May 2026 18:58:35
Each to their own, troops, personally think it's ridiculous to even consider binning any manager after giving him three quarters of a season.
08 May 2026 18:58:40
Sir Walter, u told us Gerrard was going nowhere as he said he was happy,
U said Clement and Gio were not leaving.
Do u honestly believe Rohl would say I can't wait till season over so I can leave.
His set piece coach has also been offered a job in EPL.
08 May 2026 19:00:39
It's a strange one, he was never that happy at Wednesday. Mass.
08 May 2026 19:04:51
What else can he say, Sir Walter. He won't exactly come out with I am leaving. ?
08 May 2026 19:18:05
Did he forget his family lived in Germany when he was interviewing for the role? Or when he signed a 4 year contract in Glasgow?
I'm sorry, I understand missing his family. I get that. However, why was he larping around as a British based football manager?
We all know the chaos that goes along with replacement of a head coach. Especially at Rangers given the sheer volume of managers we've gone through in the last few years.
So, to do this to us - if he does - would be highly unprofessional in my book.
I'd have more respect for him if he said "sorry everyone, this club is an absolute basket case, not what I thought it was going to be like, and I can't wait to get out".
Still unprofessional, but I'd respect the honesty.
08 May 2026 19:40:05
Good point, Marco. He is still a young man and we will know his choice soon enough. I think he wouldn't knock back a job in the Bundesliga.
08 May 2026 19:41:15
Know nothing about his family situation, but it's hardly that unimaginable to think someone tried working away from them and found it harder than expected and changes their mind, or their family find it harder and puts a strain on their relationship.
He's not been unprofessional in anything he's done either. He's seeing the season out, and then we'll see, but I'm sure it will be done properly if he does go.
08 May 2026 20:02:48
Lmao at Wishy and Carluke. You two neighbours?
08 May 2026 20:20:49
Carluke, as much as I agree with you regarding the style of play, players will now know Danny's set up. New manager comes in and it's back to square 1.
08 May 2026 20:28:10
Whatsnyname Wishae is a different country. ??
08 May 2026 20:46:06
Yately, am 60/40 on him at moment am really unsure but I think we can't keep sacking managers and expect success.
To the people that want SG back, does he get more than one season to win a trophy? What if he comes in and wins nothing, say next season, do we keep him?
08 May 2026 21:41:44
Why is the alternative to completely confirm an exit? I've heard plenty of managers and players say "we will see", or "my focus is on this season", or "you don't know what the future holds".
Can't think of many managers saying "I will 100% be here next season and I'm in the right place with the right people" then leaving. Gerrard did say he was happy. Hence why Ryan Porteous mocked him in that cup game after he left with the infamous "do I look happy".
Clement and GVB were sacked as the fans shouted for their heads and booed after matches. I seem to remember walk outs during our new owners visits and the good ol' black background with the red cross over faces. I also remember Clement being vocally backed by the board, but they then had to change that due to results and pressure from the fans.
Folk get opinions wrong.
It's ok. It's not that deep. SWS and many others are allowed to think Rohl won't leave the same way others are allowed to believe he will. Healthy debate is fine, but going after folk for their previous calls when nobody in here has a 100% success rate is a bit less cool in my eyes.
How many in here thought Skov would win us the league? How many expected Miovski to score an abundance of goals? Who expected Fernandez to become what he has? My guess is we all got stuff wrong. Same as the numerous rumours and names thrown around that go nowhere and disappear. Everyone gets it wrong, doesn't mean they should just agree because they've got things wrong before.
Anyway, that's my wee rant, lads. Let get this site back to healthy debate based on logic and perception, not past deeds of posters or name calling (none in this thread).
08 May 2026 21:44:48
Has his head been turned with the possibility of going to a Bundesliga team, which in turn means closer to his family? Couldn't blame him if he went. I think he signed a 2 and a half year contract, so we would get some compensation.
But I'm hoping his commitment to Rangers hasn't changed, and he'll give his all to the team for at least the next 3 games, which I'm sure he will, as he seems a stand up guy.
08 May 2026 21:45:23
I wouldn't be fussed tbh. Although he has improved results since he came in, it was an extremely low bar. And has failed when it matters most on several occasions now.
I was hoping that he would learn from those mistakes and implement a better, more effective style of play next year, but if he goes, I wouldn't be upset, I'd be on the phone right now to JBA in the event he does go.
08 May 2026 22:20:20
If Danny goes to another club I'd expect a transfer fee.
If he just decides to leave, I'd have it written in any contract termination agreement that we are entitled to compensation if he moves to another club within the timeframe of his contract with us that is terminated.
To be honest, I'm happy enough to continue with Danny, but wouldn't lose any sleep if we have to go down another route next season.
08 May 2026 22:59:31
Mvg, I wouldn't say it's unprofessional as things could have changed with family in the last week, month, or 6 months. Football is not everything, and things change in an instance sometimes, especially with family. So it's 100% wrong to call him unprofessional when we don't even know if he will be away or if it's reasons for family if he does go etc.
08 May 2026 23:44:16
I don't think he will be sacked, so, if he goes, I hope we get compensation for him, but it's back to rinse and repeat with manager names.
09 May 2026 06:23:07
John, to answer your question again, sir. ? You or I don't know 100% what is going to be the case regarding Danny Rohl remaining our head coach or not. ? Yet again you call me out here on my opinion regarding Gerrard further back etc so I'll be polite and answer.
? Going by the info I've read and received, it is of my opinion that Danny Rohl will remain the Glasgow Rangers head coach for next season, backed by our owner/chairman Andrew Cavanagh. ? Lock, stock and barrel, my friend. ? ??
09 May 2026 09:20:02
Sir Walter, u talk for yourself, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, when did u last sit in.
I'll call u out when u use me to validate your posts. Remember, u said your wife went to school with my source, as I said, I think not unless she is nearly 70 and educated in England.
09 May 2026 09:33:09
We know we got our wires crossed remember i corrected the misunderstanding and told you it was bomber brown my wife was at the same school as.
09 May 2026 12:10:39
Jim, imo he signed for the challenge and money.
His wife was not in Sheffield either, so he knew what it would be like without her in Glasgow.
09 May 2026 12:13:55
Cool re bomber, he certainly is not a storyteller to my knowledge.
