If we get this big striker in, does anybody think Chermiti could be an option on the left? I'm sure I seen someone on here suggest it but can't find the comment.

worth a punt GMW got to try something different.
02 Feb 2026 15:01:10
Not from the left but def deeper to link up!
02 Feb 2026 15:04:35
Yes, he should be left on the bus.
02 Feb 2026 15:08:54
Could be good on the right obviously not what he was bought for but a good option.

I seen that mentioned earlier on, perhaps by ASA. I wouldn't have seen it however, that's not to say it wouldn't work. I like him as a focal point up top but his lack of goals may go on to give us a headache.
I know he got some grief yesterday but honestly, what else could he have done with no service.
02 Feb 2026 15:21:45
Why not he's definitely got pace, strength and can spot a pass, just not clinical enough in front of goal.May take the pressure off the lad and show us a side to his game we haven't seen yet.

Great idea GMW let's go for left hand side of the subs bench, or better still the dressing room.
02 Feb 2026 15:42:38
Over Moore and Gassama?
02 Feb 2026 15:44:11
I think the best option with him is to bite the hand off of who ever offers anything for him.

Chermiti was a midfielder when he was a kid, but got a growth spurt of 6 inches in a year and the Lisbon academy put him up front.
When Joelinton arrived at Newcastle from hoffenheim, he was a number 9 and he couldn't score. Eddie Howe came in and saw his ball control and turned him into a box to box number 8.
Is this what Rohl could do with Chermiti. He often comes back very deep in games.
02 Feb 2026 16:03:46
I think it would be worth a shout as a trial. He's actually shown his crossing can be good and he can beat a man when facing them up. Potentially could bring a chaos factor like Sima did off the left.
Not what we signed him to do but Gassama hasn't been cutting it sadly so what's the harm in trying it.
02 Feb 2026 16:16:54
Can you imagine haha he can't even trap a bag of cement never mind play on the wing.
02 Feb 2026 16:34:46
If Naderi lives up to the hype we drop Chermiti 1 back. 2 holding mids with Chermiti in front.
02 Feb 2026 16:49:00
Chermiti does get told by Rohl to stay up front but has complained as he doesn't see any of his teammates apart from a distance and nobody passes or talks to him ?.
does anybody think that Rohl will have asked him to link up like that for the benefit of the team. okay he isn't scoring but the team have been. isn't it just about winning no matter who scores. after 1 poor draw, which was a point won imo we can't just change everything.
02 Feb 2026 16:54:43
Bornabear, I'm clearly watching a different Chermiti from you, he has very good ball control.
02 Feb 2026 17:07:10
Yes Angus, I've noticed that too, when Chermiti is pressing he looks over his shoulder to see who is else is really pressing but they are mostly "sitting off". No wonder he's not setting the heather on fire.
We were very lucky to walk away with a draw.
02 Feb 2026 17:08:10
How do you know what Rohl tells him to do Angus?
02 Feb 2026 18:02:11
My star his second touch is a tackle.
02 Feb 2026 18:15:13
Storm I don't know and more to the point I didn't even say I did (it was sarcastic).
However if it is SO OBVIOUS to everyone that Chermiti isn't in the box then I imagine that Rohl has noticed that and would tell him to be there.
if he isn't telling him that then my assumptions are that he is either happy with the way he is playing or Chermiti is ignoring the instructions. I am asking questions of why the player is playing in the way he does and not being told to play differently. If he is being told to play differently and isn't why is he not being dropped.
it is called an inquisitive mind as I am interested in why things happen or don't happen. no-one on here knows the answer but it is better surely than just saying he is rubbish.

Chermiti has excellent ball control.
