We have to get up to speed, tonight was a hard watch, not impressed by Rothwell, Dowell gets it tight but tbf he had some good clearances, Gassama has to start, Aaron's was not as jumpy at RB, is Jefte not fully fit? Danilo little support but involved at the goal, good strike btw, dessers involved right away getting fouls n holding up the ball, but fluffed his lines to kill it, I'd have started him.
Do we know what RM is trying to do and does he know himself, we lacked cohesion and ball retention, 2 guys wide on there right when dowell took one for the team, we were wide open
to many times.
Yes we are a work in progress we know that, but for me we're not getting there quick enough.
But at least we have Europa League phase football????.

TBH Fork it was a poor performance from the vast majority of our team ?I wouldn't single out a couple of our players because like i said the majority had poor games mate ?.

Quite disappointed in the overall performance, yes we are through but need to cut out the silly mistakes, passing was terrible at times and boy did we ride our luck, but onwards to the next game.

Rothwell was poor tonight not involved in anything 1st half mate. No much better 2nd half but even the real pirlo had bad games.
We just need to have patience mate and we need to play players in correct positions arrons can't came playing left back as it will cost us goals galore this season.
We would have taken both those scorelines back before the 1st balm was kicked so we move on to the next game.

Agree with almost all of what u said i'm not a Dowell fan but he was one of our best player tonight! Tav was absolutely miles off it and Aaron's looked like a different man at RB. Rothwell offered almost nothing Tonight Imo. Thought danillo fought his corner well he had almost zero Support and made maybe the most sprints I've seen from a striker in some time. Pana were near done when Dessers came on was far easier to get into the game.

Fork of course RM knows what he's trying to do. We are 2 games into a new season with a new team new style and the manager is having to play players that prob won't be in the team by end of the window. We've guaranteed Eal football when many thought we lose this tie so let's give the manager some patience and trust the guy. Don't underestimate how tough getting past this tie so early is.

Was a hard watch Fork, still can't get my head around what RM is asking them to do and get the impression the players are the same?
Butland first half again ok, Defence was a shambles all night, midfield was non existent and couldn't string 2 passes together, forwards hardly had a sniff, subs did ok

Come on folks, we're hardly any games in, had a big turn around in players and staff and we win, albeit ugly. It's what we needed to do and there's time and room to improve.

Supporters of previous clubs have said we will need patience with Martin but when it clicks it really clicks, tonight wasn't great but first two competitive games of season against decent opposition and in tough conditions tonight and we've got European football until new year, stop moaning.

It has started already. the we are playing players in wrong positions, I don't see what the managers tactics are and what we are trying to do. every season it happens
we drew 1-1 and got through. was it pretty: no, could it have been a different result: yes, was it a different result: no. The two worst players on the pitch were new guys Aarons and Rothwell. Butland was excellent; Dowell did well. we were better at LB when Jefte came on because Aarons was moved. If tav had stayed at RB we would still have been good there; not because Aarons moved. Dessers improved us at top end of pitch; he missed the chance but created it by great movement
we want to be a possession based and passing team but as long as we continue to give the ball away too easily we won't manage that. this takes time to implement and whilst we do that we have guaranteed European football past Christmas. just accept the win FGS and let the manager work to implement his style and improve us more.

As I said below on another post.
We played terribly at times, to be fair, but still managed to come through a very tough tie this early in the season.
Couldn't be happier we're still on course to potentially make the Champions League proper.
Butland's saves were top class ?
Gassama's double over both legs, both quality goals, and his positional awareness tonight was spot on correct position in the transition of play to stroke the ball into the corner of the net.
honestly think we can make it all the way this year just have a feeling we will make champions league ??.

At the end of the day it's the result tonight that matters most for now. We have played better and lost!
RM did say he expects the team to look different in the coming weeks and I'd be suprised if we don't strengthen at CB and LB (assuming we can move out who we want to) . Aarons is clearly a RB. Add a couple of wingers and striking options and we will be in better shape….

Most important thing was getting through to the next round and in the process guarantee Europa League.
I've seen some very good Walter Smith teams get thumped in early European qualifiers and still go on to win the league so let's just wait and see how things go this season.
