There was an article on BBC the other day saying that there will be a trial at Ayr Utd, QOS, Arbroath and Stirling Albion where some sections of support will be allowed to consume alcohol in the stadium during the up coming cup games. Government has no plans to change law at this time but allowing the trials.

Would be an important revenue stream if this law can be changed for a lot of clubs I would think. Another example where we are miles behind other countries and clubs. Surely we can all behave with a beer at games now? Would it help stop the very small number of idiots sneaking bottles into the stadium?

11 Jul 2025 11:16:46
People can't behave without beers at games ?.

11 Jul 2025 11:22:57
Can't people last 2 hours without a beer ?.

11 Jul 2025 11:47:06
Its a law against the working class and should have been challenged in the courts bye all clubs you can get a pint at the rugby no problem you can get a drink before games half time and full time if your part of the prawn sandwich crew and pay thousands for there box or seat yes people will say there's a difference between football fans and rugby fans but there lies the problem football fans are seen as thugs and non educated but rugby fans are seen as such good guys and ladies because they went 2 a private school that's just my opinion not everyone will agree.

11 Jul 2025 11:54:53
Absolute coblers, go to the camp nou, all drinks non alcoholic.

11 Jul 2025 12:25:35
Let's be honest most people caby behave with a drink in them. Combine that with football emotions n its a recipe for disaster n especially in the west a scotland ?.

11 Jul 2025 12:32:27
Wits coblers and what does the camp nou got 2 do with Scottish football.

11 Jul 2025 12:54:21
Anybody who is for drinking at games isn't old enough to remember what it was like before the ban and as somebody says look at the behaviour caused by drinking at the OF games even now. Backwards step which will cause lots of trouble at big games.

11 Jul 2025 12:55:39
Feckin Nou Camp fgs??.

11 Jul 2025 13:11:08
Why should rugby be allowed drink but football can't it should allowed or complete ban not 1 rule for football 1 rule for the rest
and i know about riots etc
with the amount off drink inside ibrox every game they be as well selling it.

11 Jul 2025 13:29:32
Dont see the issue with this tbh. a lot of folk are half cut or steamin by time they get to the game anyway from all surrounding boozers.

11 Jul 2025 13:38:41
It wasn't just the riots mate, standing next to people drinking was not a great way to watch football and then of course you had the empty cans being used to pee in before being kicked over down the back of your legs if you happened to be in front of them . No way we want to go back to this .

11 Jul 2025 13:47:32
You don't even get searched before games loads of people take drink in. Maybe if they served beer it would stop people taking buckfast in.

11 Jul 2025 13:52:14
Appalling statement to make Newtonards.
Really just you showing off your ignorance and most definitely not fact.

11 Jul 2025 13:55:28
Definitely not for me, i stopped going to games because of it and there is enough dafties at the game because of drinking before it starts. even worse if they have drink available in the stadium. our fans or theirs wouldn't behave and the amount of arrests at each game will end up to the levels they used to be and fan trouble will be front page news rather than what's on the park.

11 Jul 2025 14:22:45
Gees all the union bear take bottles in with them anyway as do many others around the ground. Wsl it woukd be be like the old days it woukd be like england were you can have a pint down the forecourt and not at seats. Not like people are going to be pissin in cans or down the back of your legs ?.

11 Jul 2025 14:25:08
Selling beer in plastic cups is not going to cause any more trouble than there is at games, people who want to get drunk are well at it for hours before hand not to mention the bottles of Buckie and vodka that are brought in, they manage to do it in hospitality without much problems so the rest of the ground should have the option to buy a drink, won't be buying one myself.

11 Jul 2025 14:28:19
Fork that's true about there took me to half time to realise ?.

San siro was different nice quiet and easy to get a beer.

Our fans are bad enough at times without beer during games tho they just take gear instead imagine the UB on drink during the game ?‍♂️.

11 Jul 2025 15:46:50
Can drink right up to kick off. No need to drink during games. Remember theirs kids at the game also. No need for beers for game duration in my eyes.

11 Jul 2025 16:16:05
So wits wrong with what a wrote maybe you can tell us mac be good 2 here your thoughts.

11 Jul 2025 16:29:37
My dad stopped going to the games in the 80's because someone behind him threw a bottle which just missed my dad and smashed into the back of the guy infront of him. Can understand why government stopped the sale of alcohol. It's easy enough saying surely we can have a few beers and behave for 2 hours, unfortunately there's a section of our support that can't behave. The old firm is a hostile enough atmosphere without adding alcohol into the mix.

11 Jul 2025 17:05:30
How was that an appalling statement mac? How about you give an informed argument back instead of trying to take the moral high ground.

11 Jul 2025 17:22:41
I think it could work as long as it's properly governed within the stadium, no reason not to sell a few pints before kick off and at half time, and keep it to the areas where the food and drink would be sold, nothing in actual stands. I don't think spirits would be a good idea though.

11 Jul 2025 17:52:22
Thanks wishy mate a don't get his problem.

11 Jul 2025 19:35:34
What a load of rubbish re a vendetta against the working class. the majority of rugby fans are working class but they can behave themselves. most rugby fans in the one game I have been at know how to limit their intake as they are there for the game. can you imagine an old firm match where both sets of fans can buy tickets anywhere and sit together. for god sake I doubt that without alcohol the two sets of fans would be able to sit together. the issue is they would still drink beforehand and then come in and consume even more and before long the hatred would lead to a repeat of the behaviour in the 80s. I hope that counts as an informed opinion. BTW love a prawn sandwich ?but not private school.

11 Jul 2025 22:23:57
See you just proved my point Angus football fans can't be trusted with alcohol but the good old chaps at rurby are splended and are all a jolly bunch and as for rurby fans are working class ok mate never once bumped into guy on site up and down the uk who was a, rurby fan fake snobs.
