My own rumour from back very early May, Penrice, looks now finally to be accelerating.
Also Dubbery apparently still very live target and this one I would really like, think he could make a real difference to our team.

Not a fan of George Hirst at all, don't think I've ever seen him actually score a goal. Admittedly, I have only seen him playing for Scotland so it's probably not that big a deal!

Penrice has been linked to Rangers for over a year, probably more. I like the boy but only if it's a permanent deal. If Rommens' nose is out of joint at facing a bit of competition for a starting position, he's at the wrong club. Too many for far too long have been guaranteed a game.

Hirst is another hard working non scoring striker. Wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.
Certainly would prefer Penrice to Meghoma, who was another sometimes player last season, as in sometimes he looked not bad.
Driouech was highly rated before he joined PSV and lost his way, but not getting in their team is no disgrace, so I'm hopeful about him.
I know why, but I would like an explanation as to why we are even looking for a right back when we bought one a few weeks ago and we have Sterling. We all know McCrorie was never going to be a Rangers full back, so why didn't McInnes and the recruitment team see that?

Penrice cannot be a downgrade in anything, as we don't have a 2nd choice left back, so there's nobody for him to be compared to as a downgrade.
Penrice is a good attacking fullback.

Storm no I don't want Penrice. I understand we only want a loan as Scally will be targeted for minutes soon.
PSV boy will sign, but poster, he's stated he signed on Monday, he passed his medical in Manchester last night/this morning.
Interesting how many now think Penrice better than Rommens, we had allegedly signed our next multi million pound player and captain.
Stevie, Rangers believe McCrorie, Sterling, Scally are all able to play left back.
All them and Rommens downgrade on Yilmaz and Jefte.

John, I've yet to see the owners upgrade in any position at all apart from maybe keeper, but I honestly think Pandur will be an expensive flop also. The Americans haven't a clue how to run a football club.

While I would agree that Rommens is a downgrade on peak Jefte and Yilmaz, what we get from Rommens is much more consistent, and also I think his attacking output is better than both.
Yilmaz had well documented injury issues and very rarely showed his true ability, and Jefte was very inconsistent.

I don't think there is any downgrade possible on Yilmaz and Jefte, two of the worst alleged left backs I have ever had the misfortune to see. Frankly, Rommens is double the player of those two combined, and James Penrice is much better than both of them as well.
Struggling to see how anyone could think that Yilmaz and/or Jefte was better than either of those two!

Penrice would be a good addition to our squad. Rommens gets bigged up a little too much in many quarters. I liked the look of him when he arrived, but he has been as inconsistent as some of the other defensive players in our squad, seemingly without coming under much scrutiny. He also has a fragility about him, and he should have to fight for that starting spot.
Really not a fan of Hirst, and that's a desperation signing for me, so hopefully no truth in that one. Maswanhise would be a no brainer for me, but I have read that he would prefer a move south.
If the PSV lad isn't holding up a scarf today, I'm going to start fearing the worst, but he could be a real hit here, assuming there are players to capitalise on his industry.

Few examples of bad business. Players gone v incoming.
Jefte n Yilmaz - Rommens, Meghoma.
Goldson Tav Balogun - McCrorie, Godfrey, Makhyana, Aarons.
Dessers - Miovski, Shanks, Naderi etc.
Sakala Sima Cerny - Gassama, Yakota etc.
Recruitment and scouting at the club is nothing short of shocking.
We consistently let good players go and bring in bang average players.
Celtic spend 11m on a proven striker.
We spend 11m on 7 players+ all players downgrades on what we had IMO.

We have almost all agreed that the players that the club have brought in are a downgrade on the players that have left, so who is to blame for this? Is it the market we are shopping in, with the transfer fee and salary we can offer, is it the recruitment team not scouting properly, or the owners being negligent and giving all the trust to their recruitment department?

Yilmaz wasn't fit enough, so that's why I say Penrice wouldn't be a downgrade. Rommens does seem just as injury prone. We are in a complete mess, and that's partly to owners recruitment team manager. We are a complete mess.

Would agree, apart from Makhanya and Yokota, as you can't possibly judge them this quickly. Sima and Cerny were never ours, but I get the point. We are setting our sights on deals we can't seem to close, and then become panic buyers.
Across the city, they look like taking their spending on 3 attacking players to ยฃ23m and are looking at a 6'7" CB. Not a great time to be trailing by 5 points.

Rommens will leave us for a fairly decent fee imo.
I'd have said ยฃ20m or so, but he seems to have few injury issues, so I'll be reserved on a price just now.
McCrorie has let me down in terms of what I expected from him.

There's one thing, John, it can't be labelled at Storm, Stevie G and myself regarding just jumping on a bandwagon in relation to James Penrice and Tuur Rommens. ๐ค
We've stated on here for months we rate Penrice, and I agree with Storm.
I think he's better than Rommens, and I rate him. ๐ค
I've wanted us to sign Penrice since he played for Livingston, and I definitely want us to sign him. ๐๐ฌ๐ง

John, I've never particularly seen it with Rommens. I think a lot of fans were blinded with the physicality of him compared to Meghoma last year, but he has a serious, serious lack of technical ability.
He can't cross the ball, and doesn't pass it particularly well forward. Penrice would do that much better, and is what a Derek McInnes team needs. A sick note, like you say.

Our scouting is bang average.
Hence why we never win the league.

You were saying Yokota is miles better than Hassan, the Egyptian boy. How would you honestly know that? Nobody does.
We usually find out the hard way how wrong we are, so best not comparing before you've seen them.
At this rate, though, Penrice might be better than Rommens, because he's quickly becoming a sicknote. I'd bet whoever the "back up" will play at least as many games as Rommens over the season.

This place is a bin fire the now man lol. People losing their minds and making conclusions based on anywhere between 20 and 180 minutes on the park.
Dan Neil had 45 minutes, wrote off. Yokota deemed a downgrade after 100 odd minutes. Rommens a downgrade based on injuries. Pandur an expensive flop based on god knows what, a deflected goal? Penrice not even in the door a downgrade.
Seeing a lot of the age old Rangers fan tradition of players becoming more the longer they are away.
Goldson a player many wanted rid of. Yilmaz a player who was injured constantly and bullied multiple times, created very few "moments", Jefte another we hunted and people were buzzing to sell for what we sold.
Cerny a player we were linked to this window and many said no because of wages, age and price, back to the bench mark.
Nothing like a bit of hysteria to pump us up for the game tomorrow.
