Yokota deal completed
05 Aug 2026 10:30:57
That moved fast, wonder who the other lad in 1DG is then, John?
05 Aug 2026 10:31:41
Beat me to it.
05 Aug 2026 10:43:23
Not seen or heard of the boys until last few days, but hopefully turns out as effective for us as Kyogo Maeda was for them.
Hopefully Prentice and 3/4 others too come.
05 Aug 2026 10:53:46
As of 10:55am there is no other target in Glasgow or holed up in a Glasgow hotel.
05 Aug 2026 10:59:39
Not one I had heard of before the past few weeks, however, seems to have done well at his previous clubs.
We all thought Olsen would be the answer to our winger issue, and we were very wrong.
Hopefully the boy does well for us.
05 Aug 2026 11:20:16
Bee, you are right, and it's why we should (myself included) stop judging players before they kick a ball. I thought Olsen would have been the best signing we made since 2012. How wrong was I, so it just shows sometimes the one you least expect become the best.
05 Aug 2026 11:02:53
100% what's the story there is 0 chance the club get a player into the city with out a single news outlet breaking it. Either domestically or where he's coming from it always breaks at some point.
05 Aug 2026 11:03:54
What's the story, interesting
05 Aug 2026 11:34:23
I am in 1DG until Saturday and at Ross Hall on Friday maybe for the first time in my life I will get a wee flyer!
05 Aug 2026 11:37:19
I'm personally really pleased with this one and I hope that Yokota can prove all of the doubters wrong. If he is successful, then hopefully that encourages the club to look at the East Asian markets more, as I think we have been missing out on some hidden gems from there. I know he didn't come directly from Japan, but you get my point.
05 Aug 2026 11:44:24
You hearing different, John?
05 Aug 2026 12:06:43
Tafydd's signing by the sounds of things. Well done, son, living our dream.
05 Aug 2026 12:08:20
From what I've read online, this lad is exceptionally good at dribbling and going past defenders. It's something he constantly tries to do, and has a high success rate at. Statistically, he was one of the best, if not the best player, in his league at doing this.
He's not going to pass the ball back, or spray passes around. He's going to get the ball and run at people. Because of this the fans will get excited, especially when he gets past someone. The frustration will come when he loses possession, or his end product is lacking once he makes it into a good position.
In all honesty, he sounds just like Ryan Kent. It will be for Rangers to try and improve Yokota's end product, which is exactly what we tried to do with Kent. Personally, I loved Ryan Kent and watching him play. So I'm happy about this one.
Someone said the lad was only 5, 6 in height. That seems small for the Scottish league. How will he cope with the physicality of the Scottish league? Will he need to bulk up? Only time will tell.
05 Aug 2026 12:18:38
Willie Henderson, Jimmy Johnstone, they were giants.
05 Aug 2026 11:44:06
Anyone else starting to doubt this board n owners I was right behind them my mate doesn't like American owners but I was standing up saying there Hearts in the right place but we have been wasting money left right and centre and we seem to missing out on all the first choice players it's getting a bit concerning
05 Aug 2026 12:20:55
I don't understand the negativity, I think he'll be class. 🤷♂️
05 Aug 2026 12:56:40
You can't force a player to come here or force another club to accept our bids for their players. We don't hold the same attraction we used to as a club - like it or not, that's the truth.
05 Aug 2026 12:58:22
Wishy, I was the same mate, ie. I thought Skov Olsen would be a superb signing for us going by what I'd seen of him and the talent he had. 🤔 I even went as far as saying he would be the best signing any Scottish club would make in January. 😲 We all know how that turned out, as he was a massive let down/failure at Rangers. 👎 It goes to show that we should never judge any player until we've seen him playing a good few times for us, and like I said in a post at the beginning of the week, sometimes the lower key signings and ones that we don't really know can often be the better signings than the players who are bigger names that we all think are talented and will do the business and become massive let downs.
🤔 Step forward our new Japanese right winger Daisuke Yokota who we signed and whose name appeared out of the blue, and I think this could work the opposite way and he'll become a really good signing for us. 👍 🇬🇧 Although he's not a big name we know or are familiar with, that doesn't mean he won't be a good signing for us. 🤔 🇬🇧
05 Aug 2026 13:07:55
Forgot about Lawrence Amo55, was meaning Matondo and Ramsey. 👍
05 Aug 2026 13:10:25
John, the next time you forget your password, I've got a suggestion for your next username.
Drop the numbers.
(John ITK Riddler) 🤣🤣 Fits you perfectly.
05 Aug 2026 13:10:32
Drago was listed in the main squad as he was signed earlier. Makhanya has clearance and can be added. Kolkata will be tight if we're trying. Either way, 2 must give way.
05 Aug 2026 13:30:11
Until we stop the circus of chopping and changing managers, there's no big marquee signings signing permanently for us. We might get a loan marquee signing, but we're going to have to give a manager, at some stage, 2 or 3 seasons minimum, to properly build a team and get shot of the overpaid and usually injured players we seem to get stuck with on a regular basis.
We can't keep doing a rebuild every single season; it's not viable in the long term. It's easier said than done, I know, as we've been mismanaged and starved of success for so long now that we want everything to happen instantly, but as I say, we need to give a manager time at some point.
05 Aug 2026 12:22:58
Tafydd got to be Welsh? If he's signing, he better be better than the last 2 Welsh players. 😇👍
05 Aug 2026 12:30:22
John, you mentioned the other day that there were 2 players heading with the squad to Poland. Is this another new player or did I catch that wrong?
05 Aug 2026 12:30:49
Personally, I didn't think Tom Lawrence was that bad, Fork. :)
05 Aug 2026 12:35:27
Cmac, I think he was referring to Makhanya & Drago when he made that comment.
John, correct me if I picked you up wrong, please.
Yokota may be added to that list today, depending on how things progress with registriations etc.
05 Aug 2026 12:37:10
Cmac, it was Drago and the new CB he was talking about.
05 Aug 2026 14:03:02
C Mac, the two I referred to last night who were staying in 1D were Makhanya and Dragojelvic.
Fork, we presently have a Welshman in the squad, fingers crossed on pulse.
CO2. I named two that signed. Everyone knew who man from east was.
The other name I did not have last night.
But I will try remember that name, although I'd drop the itk.
05 Aug 2026 14:13:56
Fork, Makhanya was in the squad listed Friday.
05 Aug 2026 15:00:07
Requiem, regarding hopefully now exploring the Asian market I agree mate, and we should have been looking there years ago imo. 🤔 I'll tell you a true story regarding our former Aussie centre half Craig Moore who I know. 🤔 Skippy told us that when Ross Wilson was our director of football/sporting director Moore approached him and told him to go and check out a guy in Asia called Daizen Maeda for Rangers before Ange was at Celtic and Ross Wilson to Moore's astonishment told him we're not looking at that market.
😲 So we could quite possibly had Maeda before Celtic eventually signed him. 😡 There's really good players in the Asian market and Rangers should never be turning their nose up at any market anywhere. 🤔🇬🇧
05 Aug 2026 15:01:44
John, the other name you did not have last night... but you have today? 👀
05 Aug 2026 15:27:51
We only had a list of 17 non-qualified before Makhanya signed, so he made 18. Nsiala drops out to make way for the winger.
05 Aug 2026 16:58:01
Rohl, are you thinking Yokota bulking up will make him any taller? 😅
