Joe Tiffany -
I'm hearing Danny Rohl has left Rangers football club, for RB Salzburg. Told the club have embargoed the news until the weekend.
Terms agreed. Just the compensation fee to resolve.
News on friendlies ect. Also delayed due to this.
12 Jun 2026 03:14:45
4lads confirm on Twitter that there was no clause in Rohl's contract. Rangers have accepted this approach, and are prepared to let the manager go. Why would Rohl stay when the club have just made it clear they are happy to part ways? He will leave with my best wishes.
I can only hope Rangers have a plan of action in place. If they allow the manager to go now, and have no replacement ready, it could turn onto a saga that disrupts our preparation for next season.
12 Jun 2026 04:03:46
Rohl, this isn't on Rangers, this is on Rohl and am glad we are getting rid of him.
12 Jun 2026 04:26:24
I'd like to think that our owners have known this and have a plan in place. We simply cannot continue to replace manager after manager, hoping that one eventually works. Pick one, stick with him. We can't do much worse than finishing 3rd regardless of the manager.
12 Jun 2026 05:16:31
Anybody that isn't Derek McInnes is a gamble in my opinion.
I'm 50/50 on Stevie G too.
12 Jun 2026 05:17:36
How is Rangers accepting an approach for our manager on someone else, Storm? 4lads are normally on the ball when it comes to this sort of stuff.
There was no clause on Rohl's contract. He can go nowhere unless Rangers allow him to leave.
Rangers are obviously happy with the compensation package on offer. Like 4lads have said on Twitter, let us just hope this does not turn into a saga that disrupts our summer.

Was fairly well known when Rohl moved, it would be for RB Leipzig. He is very highly regarded there.
Started as a video analyst and worked his way up to coach, then assistant manager, with Klopp there one of Rohl's mentors along with Hassenhuttl and Flick. It was only a matter of time before RB made their move.
We could have done the treble last season and Rohl would still have left for his dream job as RBL manager.
This isn't a rumour, it's a fact. Rohl is going and we are in the mix for another new manager, but who will it be?
We already had a big enough job this season rebuilding our defence and strengthening in key areas.
Now add a new manager search into the mix.
If I was a betting man, but I'm not, I'd bet Gerrard. With Thelwell and co gone, the next talks with Stevie G could progress better.
And the funds are there he did not have back then. He was Cavanagh's 1st choice last time. Will he be again???
Of course we have a lot of interest in our 2 most valuable players from several quality clubs, keeping Fernandez and Chermiti will be another issue for whoever replaces Rohl.
{Ed001's Note - it is not RBL.}
12 Jun 2026 06:00:29
Got to agree with Storm. Rohl wants away, and I am also glad to see the back of him!!
12 Jun 2026 06:09:18
LAUDRUPHAGI, firstly, mate, it's not RB Leipzig that Danny Rohl is possibly going to, it's RB Salzburg, my friend, if he goes. ? Rangers review and fourladshadadream have already stated Danny Rohl didn't instigate this move whatsoever and won't/hasn't pushed to leave Rangers at all.
? It was Jurgen Klopp who advised RB Salzburg to move for Rohl to make him their new head coach because Klopp rates Rohl highly, and in general he's rated highly with the Red Bull team. ? It's only my gut instinct, but I have a feeling Danny Rohl will stay with Rangers. ???
12 Jun 2026 07:53:20
Stands to reason why there haven't been more signings announced after Shankland. And no further information about pre-season etc.
This won't have just happened. It would have been longer in planning than is being reported.
12 Jun 2026 08:07:56
That's me me, had a Red Bull Mare and my 1st post in ages lmfao.
Cue the pile on. :)
12 Jun 2026 08:19:28
Happens to us all, bud. ?
12 Jun 2026 08:21:08
LH, Nice having you back, mate.
12 Jun 2026 08:22:47
Talking a load of brown bull there, Laudruphagu. ?? Easy done.
12 Jun 2026 08:32:07
Rohl came here under difficult circumstances. We were miles behind, and we had a poor squad. He did his absolute best last season and has been nothing but professional. The word is that he did not instigate this move at all.
Another club has approached Rangers, and Rangers must be happy with the compensation package offered. If Rohl leaves, it is with my best wishes. He is a very highly rated young coach, still in his 30s, and could go on to achieve great things.
12 Jun 2026 08:32:21
I'm not exactly saying this is great news, but at the same time I don't think it's the drama so many say. Dr had yet to put his print on a Rangers side, predominantly still shaped by Rm.
It was already a season of rebuilding a squad, and should Dr leave, the new manager arrives with the opportunity to build his own team.
For me, this breaks a cycle that we all hate, as our manager inevitably fails and gets his coat before Santa's been.
Dr did not set the heather on fire and finished 3rd in a 2 horse race.
Clean slate, some decent players in existing squad, a board who understand winning is everything and willing to back the manager - I'm looking forward with positivity.
12 Jun 2026 08:36:11
Will be good to get this announced.
It feels like a waste of a year at Rangers with two "head coaches" miles out of their depth.
The board have got many things wrong. They may have played a blinder from their comments in late May, now ensuring we get some form of compensation.
Either way, it feels like finally we are moving in a positive direction.
12 Jun 2026 08:43:45
Plain and simple Rohl wants out. If he leaves Walter it's his decision.
12 Jun 2026 08:51:15
Similar to players, this will be the risk of attracting young and developing head coaches - other clubs are going to want our assets, and, given the current state of both our league and our club, it's going to be difficult to retain those assets.
Clubs like RB Salzburg have an established infrastructure and financial footing (their turnover is almost double ours) that we can only dream of.
12 Jun 2026 08:56:11
Bears, I am not sure how it breaks the cycle. How do we know that the new manager will come in and win every single game? Because if he doesn't, he will be hounded out before Christmas again. The cycle is being peddled by us, the fans.
12 Jun 2026 08:57:37
But does Rohl want out, John?
12 Jun 2026 09:03:21
If Rohl didn't want to leave, then the club wouldn't now be in direct talks over compensation.
He wants the move.
12 Jun 2026 09:19:16
Whats, Yes, according to the media, maybe he's doing the honest thing in talking with them? I'm still hoping he goes nowhere.
12 Jun 2026 09:36:14
Don't kid yourself on, McInnes is a gamble as well. Me personally, I'd stay clear of him.
12 Jun 2026 09:47:45
Why would he not want the opportunity? He came in when the club was an absolute mess, stabilised us and got an underperforming team into a title race. Said team then could sustain, as had been the case in many previous years, and many fans then piled on him.
His family is still in Germany, which is tough for a young manager. If a good team comes in and he likes the offer, he's entitled to show his interest. I think he did an admirable job for us and if he leaves it's with my best wishes.
12 Jun 2026 10:01:15
Very differing opinions on here, which is fair btw. Everyone deserves the right to express an opinion. For me, I just can't forget about the end to the season, the draws against Motherwell and Livi, then the losses at the split. That wasn't just on the players, that was on Danny too. Team selection and tactics were awful during the last couple of months; it can't be denied.
I'm not saying McInnes or whoever else
being mentioned would win us the league. Nobody knows, but what I can't help but feel is we ain't winning it with Danny; I just can't see it. This job's too big for him at this stage in his career. He needs to go and cut his teeth somewhere else, because Glasgow Rangers deserves better than Danny Rohl.
12 Jun 2026 10:14:40
I'd have backed Rohl, of course, but I've said, in my opinion, it would have been a mistake for him to stay. If he goes, I wish him well and thank him for his efforts, but quite frankly I think we'd have dodged a bullet.
12 Jun 2026 10:17:41
Totally agree Rwn, 5 games to go. We have title in our grasp. Defence is poor every game, but same defence plays, Dr. Watching same poor displays as us does nothing.
12 Jun 2026 10:59:41
Why wouldn't he want away.
Half the fans wanted him away anyway.
He almost performed the miracle of miracles by winning the league from where the team was and the players we had. He got a tune out of Chermiti, Moore & Fernandez.
Normal players let him down, but what other choices did he have? He was trying to find solutions that were simply not there.
Yes, he made mistakes, but he is a young coach and a highly well thought of one at that if Klopp wants him.
It's the RB group, so a stepping stone, potentially, to his dream job, Leipzig, and closer to his family, so why wouldn't you want the job.
Maybe he was committed, but this offer changed things and Rangers should get big compensation, so not all doom & gloom.
Rohl can't instigate a move, Salzburg have approached Rangers, big difference.
It was a huge rebuild for Rohl and he hadn't put his stamp on the team, and we were always limping to try and get the title.
Now half the team need replaced, so any manager has a huge task, including him if he stays, so I don't think it puts us as far back if the correct plans are in place.
12 Jun 2026 11:33:20
1 All managers are a gamble.
2 Rohl leaving is only fact once he actually leaves.
3 Gerrard a poor manager. Not good enough. Let's try to get better.
If you were in a different country for your wife and children and you got the opportunity to change that, I know what I would do.
12 Jun 2026 11:40:31
Get a girlfriend, Pieter. ??
12 Jun 2026 11:49:29
John, you say Rohl wants out and no reason to doubt you, mate. ? But then you say it's Rohl's decision if he leaves. ? Surely, if he's wanting away, and he now has RB Salzburg to go to, then the decision is already made, I would have thought. ?
12 Jun 2026 12:01:27
So if there is a news embargo until the weekend, how does everyone and their granny know about it? Oh, I forgot 4lads and Rangersreview told them.
12 Jun 2026 10:24:22
Rwc, you have got to be kidding, surely? You ain't that naive? Rohl wants away, or this wouldn't be happening.
12 Jun 2026 10:35:15
Rumour the compensation could be as much as EUR 7m.
12 Jun 2026 10:42:41
Correct EHL, and I assume that, similar to players, we will have a group of young up and coming managers now seeing our club as a way to get to the next stage. If they help us become more successful then that isn't a bad thing imo.
12 Jun 2026 10:51:01
Every single manager is a gamble.
12 Jun 2026 13:21:17
See, "3rd in a two horse race" nonsense needs to stop. We were a couple of points of the playoff spot when he took over & were a shambles, thought we'd be lucky to make top 6, but came closer than we had in previous years. Hearts sat at peak almost the whole season & choked it with McInnes, who done similar at Aberdeen. Celtic players threw Nancy under the bus & stopped playing for Mr "I need better players every window" Rodgers.
If O'Neil stayed they'd of won the league sooner. Our players crumbled like every other season we got close to Celtic, Butland was awful near the end under Clement & horrific post split with Rohl & cost us more than Rohl's tactics or selection (he didn't have much of a selection).
12 Jun 2026 16:52:52
Sir Walter, again read the post. If he wanted to stay, he would not be talking to them.
