Cavanagh confirms Rohl stays, and no project players to be brought in.
Indeed interesting Tavs dinner does not include Rohl.
17 May 2026 13:26:57
Well they better back him with some real quality.
17 May 2026 13:31:36
Big t. He seems to indicate that. I only assume Rohl has stated he is all in with Cavanagh's plan. Cavanagh says we will see leadership and experience brought in.
Now we get on with it.
17 May 2026 13:33:48
At last. We have our own, developed by us project players. This constant talking about buying and selling needs to stop. We were supposedly selling one a year, whilst a developer was ready to step in. ??
17 May 2026 13:33:53
John, what about project managers?
17 May 2026 13:34:44
Tavernier has been a great player and a great servant, but this is embarrassing. Not Rangers class.
17 May 2026 13:43:30
Rohl was never going anywhere.
Next season prep well underway, expect movement early.
My own personal opinion, I have my reasons, but I've been looking forward to the day Tav is no longer our club captain.
A few others will be moved on, which will help feeling around the squad and mentality.
I know some might be disappointed we are staying with Rohl, but this summer there will be real changes. Big AC and his staff see what's going on.
This isn't another rinse and repeat.
Be optimistic, Bears, I genuinely mean that.
17 May 2026 13:44:17
John, the reason Rohl is not there is because he's at home with his family apparently.
17 May 2026 13:45:39
We know how this ends.
Bad start, blames it on new players adjusting.
Fans completely turn.
After the loss to Celtic.
Linked to Gerrard.
Then hire someone else when it becomes a nightmare for Rohl.
Hope I'm wrong, will happily admit if I am.
But that's my guess for next season.
Hate being negative, but I just can't see how this works well.
17 May 2026 13:56:42
Alex, hear you, that's why I'm waiting to see in and out.
17 May 2026 14:03:47
Baxter met with Cavanagh last night for dinner and is allegedly flying out today.
17 May 2026 14:16:58
Folks,
We don't have a crystal ball. I have no idea what's going to happen.
Can we please stay in the present and get behind the club and everyone involved.
Rohl is here to stay for now.
It would be madness to go into next season before a ball is even kicked, asking for his and players' heads.
I have to support them.
I'm excited to see what next year brings!
Mon the Rangers. ?
17 May 2026 14:22:35
Our projects should be our youth, there's no reason why 2/3 youngsters in each matchday squad. If we give Sally 10+ appearances minimum, it looks good for buying clubs in an 18 year old has 30-40 first team apps.
17 May 2026 14:28:13
I actually wanted Rohl to stay for next season and in previous posts, I had stuck by him and explained why: needs a full season, his own summer window, a full pre season etc. But the rumour about Rohl being told to stay away from the dinner, Gassama celebration favouring Tav. It does look like a divide, doesn't it? However, my controversial opinion is that I actually think Tav and Raskin have been the problem within the squad.
Let me be clear, I feel sorry for the way it ended, course, but I think it's blatantly obvious that they two have been the cause of splits in Rangers for a while. Raskin is one I can't wait to see the back of.
17 May 2026 14:36:25
Great post, Gazza_8_78! Now that AC has put things to bed, I'd much rather start to see rumours on players coming in the summer.
Would love to see a 'current state' of transfer rumours from Aphe, EHL et al. I know that some names can't be named, but any current info would be great.
It will be a moving target, but would be great to see where we all think things stand.
I need some positivity to keep me going (if indeed there is any good news!).
17 May 2026 14:39:52
Spot on, Burt, three that came on yesterday looked the part, be another few anyway.
17 May 2026 14:46:20
Wullie83, yes good post mate. I agree with it completely, mate.
17 May 2026 15:03:35
John, I don't mean to be disrespectful but Cavenagh isn't going to tell you DR is going to be sacked. Maybe another manager isn't too far away.
17 May 2026 15:13:40
Baxter, and how would that look for him if he did that. Fans would never be able to trust anything he says. Try just to accept he is here for next season, and try to support the team. I am just glad he has come out really early and made the statement.
Now we can stop all the back and forth on here about it.
Meantime, I look forward to us being linked with such football talent as Simon Murray and Gogic again. ?
17 May 2026 15:14:33
In Rohl's We Trust. ?⚪️?
17 May 2026 15:23:03
Lads, you can back the manger and that's absolutely fine. I'll back my team all day long, but I don't see Rohl working.
I can't emphasise enough how much I hope I'm wrong, and who knows, maybe I'm just so scunnerd of years of watching us fail over and over again.
AC has stated they want leaders, ect.
Well, the proof is in the pudding, as they say, until we see it then it's just birthday card patter.
17 May 2026 15:24:27
Baxter agreed, however, from day one Cavanagh has stated Rohl would see out his contract.
The issue for me was: did Rohl want to stay?
As Angus says, if he sacks him before the season starts, he looks stupid, imo he certainly is not stupid.
I agree re early statement is good.
17 May 2026 15:34:16
Cool John, thanks for your information, much appreciated. Regarding Angus, I don't read his posts.
17 May 2026 15:36:52
I would love Gogic. 100% every time. He could be our new Balogun. Bring him on at 80 mins when games are tight and he would fly into anything. My kind of player.
17 May 2026 15:40:13
The English Championship and League One are finished why haven't we signed anyone yet?
17 May 2026 15:57:49
Absolutely gutted with this news. Never wanted Rohl, said he'd be another Martin and he is. His record speaks for itself. I got behind him this season despite not wanting him. Absolutely gutting we're willing to write off next season already, as we all know he's lost enough fans, that first wobble they'll be on his back. Sacked before Christmas. Guarantee it.
17 May 2026 15:58:04
Jking, I'm 100% with you. I'm sick to death with us signing player that don't have heart for the fight.
17 May 2026 16:01:47
John, that isn't what I said, though. I was pointing out he was unlikely to back him so publicly, whilst having plans to sack him. If he later went against his public proclamation, then I, for one, would never know when to trust anything he said in future.
17 May 2026 16:09:17
Let's now, as one big family, get right behind our head coach Danny Rohl and his new Rangers team from the very start next season and do what we signed up to do from birth. Support. ?
17 May 2026 16:17:41
Right decision for me. Needs a pre season and full transfer window. Hopefully, the board are changing what needs done behind the scenes also.
I like what AC said, however, exactly what we have been saying on here. Need players with the right mentality to be winners.
17 May 2026 16:22:53
Angus, that's what John agreed with you on,
Silly boy. ?
17 May 2026 16:30:56
Big mistake.
17 May 2026 16:47:04
First and foremost, if Dr is staying, we need somebody next to him that 100% has and knows Rangers expectations. Next is a minimum of a captain who knows the same plus more!!
17 May 2026 16:51:50
Stig, no it wasn't really the same in my mind when I read it, hence my response. I wouldn't trust Cavenagh was what I meant, but by the same token he would appear stupid if he went against his public backing.
I guess I was just trying to be 100% accurate on what I meant, that is all. Splitting hairs, I think it is called. I am good at that. ?
17 May 2026 17:00:58
I don't understand this 'we need someone that knows the expectations'. What are the expectations? To win games of football? I think the manager is going to know that.
Barry Ferguson is still hired by Rangers as an ambassador. Get him to meet Danny Rohl and explain to him the 'expectations'. It'll only take a minute to communicate that we want to win games and silverware.
17 May 2026 17:01:01
Angus, that is how I interpreted your post.
Yes I thought I had agreed with him, Stig.
Angus here we go agin. I'll go back to just ignoring u.
17 May 2026 17:02:15
Baxter boy, I understand why, I'll be joining u again.
17 May 2026 18:08:07
Very disappointed and I fear Cavanagh is not reading the room here. That said, I will follow on as usual, hoping and praying that I'm wrong and that Rohl can turn things around quickly as he'll need to. I'm afraid it smacks of the sack by Christmas.
17 May 2026 18:48:59
Anybody advocating for Gogic needs their head examined. ?? We need sooo much better than him.
17 May 2026 18:53:25
I hate writing a manager off before he's had a pre season, like to see Rohl get the players super fit before anything else next year! If we raid the Championship again next year, I'll be so disappointed! Not many have worked out well!
17 May 2026 19:26:38
Let's hope the signings come in early before either Europa League or Conference League play-offs start.
17 May 2026 20:45:46
Until we get a strong spine of a team to build off, any manager is going to struggle. If DR is going to have a chance, he better make us the fittest and most hard working in the league over pre season, that will give him a chance to get tactics and formation drilled into them before we lose too much ground.
Personally, don't think he has the personality to get players to run through walls for him.
17 May 2026 21:33:09
Just my opinion, but I believe in Rohl and what we can achieve under him, albeit has a lot of improving to do.
No one under any illusions that this squad isn't good enough and needs a clear out, and it should start with leadership group, as they have been part of the failings for years. All good servants but nowhere near good enough in themselves and we deserve better.
It will take a massive overhaul, but Skov Olsen aside, the other 3 signings look good on the whole and with more in, in that mould we will be better for it.
Regarding split in dressing room, that is only an issue if those against are staying, and doesn't necessarily look like they are, Gassama can go also.
Looking forward to the transfer business in the summer and getting the right calibre in that can cope with playing for Rangers.
Back the manager, back the team.
17 May 2026 22:25:11
True, he won more than us this year. Get the big guy signed up. Body on the line stuff is my kind of football. It will never happen though.
18 May 2026 08:23:04
Joh. I didn't reply last night in anger. I similarly misread your post, so we did say the same thing, but I originally felt there was enough of a difference to make the distinction. It was more clarifying my thought than arguing against yours. However, feel free not to read my posts and same to anyone. I come on here to put my opinion across and don't need thumbs up or praise to make it worthwhile. Getting it off my chest is all I ask for.
Baxter, we had a disagreement what seems forever ago. I have forgotten about it and what it was even about.
Carry on ignoring me, as that is your choice, but don't let it affect your mental health, mate. Me nor my opinions are not worth it, honest.
The purpose of the forum is to have discussions, and we won't always agree. In fact, the posters I like most are those who hold that discussion and still come back into the next one exactly the same. It is the going back to old posts which cause most disagreement on here, so I would rather forgive (if needed) and forget.
So again, if I upset you I apologise, but there is only a limit to how often I can do that.
18 May 2026 08:35:02
The forget bit, is that an age thing, Angus? ??
18 May 2026 09:37:47
Angus, I'm not going to praise you for your most recent - and excellent - balanced post, but it's good to see you back posting. I generally enjoy reading your views, and it's right that you should feel able to vent on this forum. We all need a bit of headspace sometimes. Be well, everyone.
18 May 2026 10:13:18
AC might be a good business man, but first season evidence and yesterday's interviews show he is more out of his depth than Rohl is as manager. We are a laughing stock at the other side of the city, and if Rohl quits for a German team in the coming weeks AC will be a bigger laughing stock! Hold on, the blue noses people, it's going to be more pain before it gets better.
18 May 2026 10:37:21
AC won't be a laughing stock if Rohl goes to a German side, considering they'll have to pay compensation, and then, at that point, it won't look bad on him if he was to bin Rohl and have to pay out his contract early.
18 May 2026 10:57:11
So the guy and his consortium that stabilised our financial woes is out his depth? Yes, the playing side is not where it should be, but you can't fault the stability they have provided.
You need stability to build from a sound financial footing, on Rohl, continuously sacking managers and not allowing any of the time to build is nuts. In my humble opinion.
18 May 2026 11:02:02
Beef, love your views, but I disagree. That's like waiting for a better price for your old car that's unreliable and your family has lost faith in, before you trade it in to get the new one, and every day the old car has more chance of costing you money and time.
Celtic will not do a Nancy again and give us a get out of jail card! Beef, if you have a stone in your shoe and you're running a marathon, you stop and get rid of it!
18 May 2026 11:20:39
Fork, love your views and thoughts, and great point regarding our financial status with AC taking over. I agree, but if you think that questions are not being asked in the boardroom, that they have spent millions more than the previous board yet finished 3rd to the poorest Celtic team in decades, you're very much mistaken. I agree, we can't keep sacking managers, but AC rubber stamped Clement being sacked.
They decided to not extend Barry's intern role (would have given them time to get their feet under the table) and then decided to hire Martin and Rohl (both of which were not first choices). AC has helped create this situation, imo. Let's hope, for all our mental health, that this doubling down with Rohl works. I just felt it was time to go spend money on an experienced manager with a clean slate.
18 May 2026 11:56:03
Fair points, bud, but the danger with that is if the experienced guy fails it's square one again, as AC said, the blame goes up to the board. But, by all means, if it goes awry, then yes, it may need to be done.
Would give him the preseason and TF window to see if he can build, though, once we've trimmed those that are going. ?
18 May 2026 14:02:58
The conversation is likely to have been, 'We're not going to sack you, but if an offer comes in, you can go.' From both sides.
18 May 2026 15:33:35
Fork, no, forget bit is more about not concentrating. The frustration bit is more around posters not being happy to accept any posts against them, but giving it out on a regular basis. I let both parts of that cross over, unfortunately, and wish I'd kept my mouth shut for once. ?
