Blind question.
Would you rather sign a 26 year old winger with 81 senior goals and 40 international caps and 2 League winners medals.
Or a 23 year old winger with 18 Career goals and 17 international caps.
No career medals to date.
Now this is not meant as a slight but just a gaining of understanding for myself.
12 Jan 2026 17:45:25
Depends what league ect they scored there goals what country they got capped for.
12 Jan 2026 17:47:37
Olosen every day of the week, imo.
12 Jan 2026 17:50:29
Skov olsen 100%.
12 Jan 2026 17:51:18
Sign both and sell both for future profit.
12 Jan 2026 18:01:18
26, still got plent yet to give but has a good bit of experience and a track record to show for it. we currently have a squad of young boys.
12 Jan 2026 18:01:55
I'll take the first one please, good sir.
12 Jan 2026 18:06:50
26 year old winger because he brings in valuable experience something we need in the team. Also as you stated he has previously won he knows what it takes to win we at Rangers want to win everything so it's a no brainer for me personally we are crying out for a good left footed winger.
12 Jan 2026 18:07:42
Baby Jesus and the orphans Aph, yer like a blind dug in a meat market.
12 Jan 2026 18:09:26
Aph i'd sign both but i'm greedy ??
If i had to choose i'd likely go the 26 yr old as would have bit more experience and couple of good seasons would still have good sell on value mind you we could say the same for the 23 yr old. Actually that's a pretty tough question mate ?.
12 Jan 2026 18:14:17
Aphelion, probably not that simple, depends on club, what level.
Not taking into consideration character, athleticism et and more
Sorry not much help. ?.
12 Jan 2026 18:16:24
Not sure who u referring to Bit difficult without more info depends where he's played or which country for. Eg. Plenty of Celtic players got medals because of lack of competition even though they're not that great.
Who's keeping him out the international side? A 23yr old English Arsenal player being kept out the team by Saka is probably better than a 26 Yr old from a lesser nation winning and scoring at a club like Celtic.
12 Jan 2026 18:23:04
Newtonards let's say 40 caps for Denmark with goals in Denmark, Belgium and international.
League titles in Belgium.
And 17 caps for Zimbabwe and 18 goals in the SPFL.
12 Jan 2026 18:28:50
Belgian league now a lot stronger than ours. If he can do the business there he can do it in Scotland.
12 Jan 2026 18:30:28
None so blind as those who will not see.
12 Jan 2026 18:31:56
Sorry Aph mate brains a wee bit slow to get who your meaning but suppose point is it depends on more factors than just those stats. How much would Olsen cost? Would a much cheaper, younger version like Maswanhise do almost as good and allow more spending in others area.
How do each handle Scottish football? What potential to improve and sell on profit etc. If purely on who's better I'd say Olsen all day but at what cost?
12 Jan 2026 18:32:10
Aphe I would be happy with either tbh and would think either would improve our squad/team.
there are too many indeterminables here to make a decision easily and mainly around the difference in ages and what the 23 year old might do over the next 3 years after we have signed him. so is the 26yo on the wane and the 23 yo on the rise. 2/3rds of the 26yo caps were before last 3 years and goals were less as well.
23yo not played senior football until his current club so is he their Calvin Bassey who will go on to greater things and make them a lot of cash.
as I say I don't think it is as simple as looking at past performance when one has decent figures recently and the other doesn't. we would be taking a chance with both to an extent: can the 26yo regain his past form but also can the 23 yo continue his good form with us.
12 Jan 2026 18:33:56
I agree entirely John.
12 Jan 2026 18:37:22
Sign both, and make cash on one Aphelion.
12 Jan 2026 18:37:40
Depends on the players and not their records.
Personally I'd be happy with either.
Be even happier with both and moving Antman on.
12 Jan 2026 18:39:03
One isn't nearly as much as a risk as the other one Aphelion, things like this need added to your question as well.
12 Jan 2026 18:40:12
If we have a chance of signing Olsen we must take it. Very important for Rohl to be supported/rewarded with good players for the squad he has managed to galvanise and make the season competitive.
12 Jan 2026 18:51:08
Olsen, Mawanhise is a decent player but Olsen is different class.
12 Jan 2026 18:51:23
With the American money, let's go for both?.
12 Jan 2026 18:53:54
Skov Olsen would be a first team player who would improve us immediately as we are lacking on the right side. Moore, Aasgaard and Gasamma have been ineffective on that side.
Don't really understand the negativity around this one. Would be a statement signing for me and one that's set to have an instant impact rather than a development player. I'd be very happy with this especially along with Rommens. LB and RW our weakest position this season imo.
12 Jan 2026 18:54:40
Shouldn't even be up for debate, cannot believe people are trying to put a negative spin on olsen to Rangers!
12 Jan 2026 18:59:38
Depends on many things … what 2 are you talking about?
12 Jan 2026 19:02:26
Shota can you not answer the question?
It's fairly simple, rather than just trying to knock someone who wants the best for Glasgow Rangers.
12 Jan 2026 19:11:37
Sign both but if pushed skov olsen.
12 Jan 2026 19:19:13
Right now we need the more experienced player to help bring the younger ones we've signed up to that level. Olsen will be a great signing if it happens.
12 Jan 2026 19:19:14
both, but i'm most definitely a greedy bassa
???.
12 Jan 2026 19:25:39
Not as simple as that. Look at Chermiti - a striker who hadnt scored a senior goal yet he bags 2 at the piggery.
12 Jan 2026 19:29:17
Some people can't see the woods for the trees!
Personally I'd love it if we could get both. Both very good players but signing Olsen would be a statement of intent by the board and manager.
12 Jan 2026 19:32:15
A think both would do a great job but a don't know anything about the younger lad so be Olsen mate.
12 Jan 2026 19:43:43
But also if the 22 year old has the stats you mentioned and keeps progressing at that rate would hebe a better player by the time he turns 26?
12 Jan 2026 20:00:14
I will answer your question Aph, but you do go on a bit, every page is about this, I would of course take Olsen but the money side is not value for me, it's a big layout, for the cash being spoken, would rather bring a few lads in for the money, one man doesn't make a team, no matter if you say he's the best player in Scotland without actually kicking a ball.
I would try a punt on the Motherwell lad no problem.
12 Jan 2026 20:00:27
Would depend if one was on the wane and the other progressive?
Is he on the slide? Where is the value in the market if that is the case.
Nobody knows for sure but Wolfsburg have seen enough.
We know the Motherwell lad is currently 'on it'. Loan till seasons end with an option would probably be the best way to go for Rangers and Andrea's.
(1) If he's the business and helps us win the title and the 40m CL jackpot.
(2) He gets himself in the shop window, if he wants to ply his trade elsewhere.
No sure if we'll get him tbh, just hope he doesn't end up across the city.
Was very impressed with him against the tic when he was at Club Brugge.
12 Jan 2026 20:20:32
Skov all day long, destined to be a Ger and a great, only turned 26 a few weeks ago…if we could I'd sign both- see if Gassama can produce remainder of season out on preferred left side, if not cash in and get the young boy playing.
Maybe offer Curtis as part of deal for loan and game time.
12 Jan 2026 20:34:45
Sign both and sell Gassama and get Matondo off our books. Btw I'd also entertain offers for Antman.
12 Jan 2026 20:39:04
Adhesion almost everybody on here wants the best for Rangers.
12 Jan 2026 20:51:02
If we could sign Olsen it could be a massive signing for us - he could come in and win us the league then straight into the champions league.
Or like other players he could come in and struggle - like Aph says some players thrive in certain leagues where it clicks.
IF we can get him and it would require a large pay cut on his side then it's certainly worth a punt. Could be potentially huge for us.
If he did I would expect Antman probably to leave however, and maybe a cheaper backup come in.
12 Jan 2026 20:56:22
Olsen for me, the other boy not seen him yet.
Back up maybe.
12 Jan 2026 22:27:43
Sorry Aphelion back to work today. Not been on much. Had a thick moment when responding as just scanned the thread. who you were meaning ?
Olsen all day. The pedigree is night and day.
Takes us up another level.
12 Jan 2026 22:34:47
Slob Olsen, no hesitation. Nuff said.
13 Jan 2026 02:50:15
If we get Olsen it'll be the 2nd time Olsen and Antman have played in the same team.
13 Jan 2026 05:06:50
Reading through and seen someone say about which league they come from, which I'd say is spot on, players brought in from the Dutch league seem to flounder (Lammers, Danilo, propper etc. even Antman who looked great for a smaller side) it feels like the Belgian league and the Nordic leagues seem to produce players more suited to Scottish football.
13 Jan 2026 05:42:31
Slob is a bit harsh.
13 Jan 2026 07:09:45
His brother Blob Olsen is not a bad player too - but carrying a wee bit extra weight at moment??.
