Hearing Rangers agree deal for David Watson from killie.
06 Jan 2026 20:54:17
To me this doesn't make sense he's not the 6 we need and he's no better than what we have.
06 Jan 2026 20:55:15
I really have not seen a lot of the lad that m not as clued up as others on him.
Any Scottish talent young or old is more than welcome onboard imo.
06 Jan 2026 21:08:23
Folk said the same about Barron.
We need to be the club of choice for young Scottish talent, fill the squad with the best of the rest. They won't break the bank and also they provide cover, allow rotation, push the starting 11 and also allow you to sell players like Raskin (for example) if we know we have folk in the building that can either fill the position long term or deputise until replacements are sourced.
So many reasons we should be recruiting players of this profile.
06 Jan 2026 21:08:58
John is it one of the main names that's been spoken about in the media?
06 Jan 2026 21:11:26
We have Scottish talent in Cameron and rice who can't get near our midfield not sure on Watson tbh.
06 Jan 2026 21:23:39
Seems to be highly rated, so sounds like a sensible signing. I would imagine Dio or Raskin may move on in the summer also.
06 Jan 2026 21:27:38
Thoughts on Leighton Clarkson? Think he's a player imo. Dunno what his fee would be. but I'd take a punt.
06 Jan 2026 21:30:59
He's a regular for killie and a decent player imo. Rice has had his chances and Cameron seems surplus atm (no idea why tbh. seriously rate the lad). Would love to see all 3 asap.
06 Jan 2026 22:02:26
He's not a 6 IMO. He's an 8. And I think we'll see him there. Good squad player if a few are to go out and low risk.,
06 Jan 2026 22:06:04
I liked the look of Clarkson a year or so ago but he's not really kicked on, technically good but maybe not quite physical enough to play at high level consistently.
06 Jan 2026 22:08:15
I would definitely sell dio long before Raskin but money talks and nico will eventually be sold for a big fee and when he's on it he's a superb midfielder ???.
06 Jan 2026 22:15:07
I did see online we have agreed terms.
06 Jan 2026 22:24:55
Watson is ooc in the summer so surely trying to get him is low risk. he has improved this season and looks good in what is a poor Kilmarnock side. we said Barron wasn't good enough as well and see how he has started to come good.
06 Jan 2026 22:26:13
There's a real chance Dio and Raskin will be away in the summer so makes sense to get him in now, also allow Cameron to go out on loan and get back playing and get rid of Rothwell. Our mid 3 are having to play every game just now.
06 Jan 2026 22:29:06
He's very highly rated amd only 20 worth a try. I'll tell you what though this transfer window is definitely not exiting ?.
06 Jan 2026 22:32:10
Would like Watson signed, could maybe have offered Rice in the deal.
06 Jan 2026 22:45:45
Agree a good squad signing for little risk - loads were saying start season about Barron (not me) and now he is one of first name on team sheet - this is exactly the type of signing we have not taken due to not rating Scottish talent - shankland mulligan Ferguson.
06 Jan 2026 22:45:46
Raskin most likely to leave soon
Dio everyone seems to know not great in rough tumble spl
Watson makes sense from football point of view as well as a scottish trained point of view
Its tough to see the best of a midfielder in a team that's struggling.
06 Jan 2026 22:46:18
Lets give him a chance anyway.
06 Jan 2026 22:55:49
Leighton Clarkson? Oh come on!
06 Jan 2026 23:07:44
I'd take Watson on a free all day long. His numbers make it a classic low risk, high reward move for us.
He's out of contract in the summer, valued around £1.2m, and he's already played 93 games for Killie with 12 goals and 8 assists good output for a 20‑year‑old in a struggling side.
Hes the Scotland U21 captain with 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 6 qualifiers, you're talking about a young midfielder producing at good levels.
Across the last two seasons he's made 35+ appearances, which tells you he's physically robust, trusted by managers, and consistent enough to stay in the team, availability is a skill, and he has it.
He's much more of an 8 or a 10 than a 6. He carries the ball well, presses aggressively, times his runs, and gives us that between the lines option we don't really have.
He also chips in with goals from midfield something we've lacked for years.
For a free, and for a squad that badly needs depth, legs, energy, and Scottish talent, it's a no‑brainer. I'd absolutely take the punt.
06 Jan 2026 23:12:14
Signing makes no sense i don't think. Certainly not a starter. Cameron can't get a sniff and on bench.
06 Jan 2026 23:17:28
Don't want Watson he really isn't that good.
06 Jan 2026 23:33:15
Watson gets in behind and brings goals, maybe send Cameron on loan.
06 Jan 2026 23:33:56
No brainer on a free or small fee this window. Don't let him be another of those "we could have signed him for nothing" players. If only wed took the same chance on mulligan.
07 Jan 2026 01:23:39
Always nice to see Scottish players in the side but I really don't see much of the lad other than when he plays against us however it is very low risk and always worth a punt on these kinda guys.
07 Jan 2026 07:51:31
No truth in Watson
More likely to sign with his boyhood heroes in the east end.
07 Jan 2026 09:52:30
The club will get a reliable opinion on Watson now for sure. If he's doing well in that shambles of a club then maybe he's worth a shot.
07 Jan 2026 10:28:58
Perhaps Pierre Ekwah is the 6 or CDM Rohl is after, with Dio and Raskin playing as CMs?
Would it not make more sense to get Ekwah for the 1st team if we are going for the league title.
And sign watson a pre to arrive in the summer.
07 Jan 2026 11:44:07
To be honest I've never seen Watson stand out against us, Cameron did game after game and is struggling to get game time so don't know about Watson, heard plenty of good things from people about him tho.
