We may or we may not sign Dahl, I understand we are trying to get the best squad/team, but for too many years we buy average players at best and then end up paying big wages for them to be doing nothing for us, a blind man can see we need to trim the squad, there is a balance to be had, we need to start making less mistakes in the transfer market, no club gets all signings bang on, but we need to start getting more right than wrong, once we start getting some out the door, I'm sure we will see more incomings, at the right time, patience!

Hello all, long time reader first time poster I love this forum its far more informative than my RR subscription.
I can categorically confirm there will be no significant signings until Raskin is sold.
The reasoning for this is quite simple in that the Americans, despite their claims of putting £20 million into the playing squad, haven't spent any of their money since they took over. I'm using Transfermarkt for the data so its all in Euros. I ignore frees and I will also ignore loans as the information isn't always disclosed.
Last Summer Expenditure: €29.71m
Last Summer Sales: €26.73m
NET SPEND BY SUMMER: €2.98m
Winter Expenditure: €13.7m
Winter Sales: €0.47m
NET SPEND BY WINTER: €16.21m
Then comes one straight out the American playbook .

a share issue for £16m or €18.7m
NET GAIN BY END OF SEASON: €2.49m
This Summer Expenditure: €13.8m
This Summer Sales: €3.5m
NET SPEND THIS SUMMER: €10.3m
Sell Raskin for £20m or €23.4m
NET GAIN AFTER RASKIN SALE INC REMAINING SHARE ISSUE MONEY: €15.59m
I will bet my left nut they do not spend anymore than this and it will be spread amongst 3-4 new players, unless more players are sold.
Congrats boys we have what we always wanted a board who can balance the books along with share dilution and asset stripping GOD BLESS America!

Whit?

23 Jul 2026 22:05:44
Balancing the books and player trading go hand in hand. That's not asset stripping.

23 Jul 2026 22:32:30
The mind boggles.

23 Jul 2026 23:44:30
😱😱 Utter nonsense. 🙄

24 Jul 2026 08:13:55
Think I'll wait to see properly audited accounts to see what the balance sheet looks like rather than read a first time posters version of them.

24 Jul 2026 08:43:23
100% this is a Jungle Jim.

24 Jul 2026 09:26:05
Not 100% sure, but I'm saying that poster isn't a Rangers fan, thinking he's from the darkside of town. Could be wrong. If he is from the darkside, I'd only be concerned with my own club selling the best players over a period and bringing in a lesser player as a replacement.

Signed one player when they need a dozen. Something is so wrong at that club.

We were making losses in sales of players & such before they came in. We were lucky to get £10 million to spend under the last regime. Some players we sold last summer weren't meant to be sold, but Martin got his way. We said you won't include frees or loan fees, but you are doing it to suit your point, as both Aarons & Moore had significant loan fees, plus we paid some of their wages as well as our player wages, so that is more money to the expenditure. Also, sacking Martin, Thelwell & Stewart costs money too.

If Thelwell is to be believed, & I don't know why he would lie about how much was spent, then we spent way more than we brought in from sales. We didn't have money in the bank to use, so it has come from the owners.

PSR/FFP is a thing in Europe, & we've been close to punishment in recent years. Cavanagh & the 49ners (plenty of other clubs too) can't simply pump money in, so sales might need to happen, but it's probably more down to us having a lot of midfielders to move on before signing more there. We still have old sponsorship deals in place that aren't great for us. I assume they have some lined up for when the old ones end.

If they were asset stripping, they wouldn't be spending anything that's been brought in & they certainly wouldn't be fixing in the stadium or planning expansions. I'd say they are doing exactly what the 49ners done with Leeds.

Sounds like one of the financial experts from the dark side. Maybe, should spend your time working out where your club's money is going (everyone else knows by the way) instead of spouting rubbish on here.

24 Jul 2026 12:45:16
Utter nonsense.

We had 6 players on loan last season, all with fees, MM fee alone rumoured to be about 2M. Rangers spent approx £38.75M on transfer fees last season, not inc any loan fees for the 6 players.

We brought in approx £25/26M in sales.
If they were asset stripping then Chermiti and Fernandes would have been gone by now.
Raskin is the large sale that's needed this window, and we need to start selling when at peak value for us as a club.

We have 29 players not inc youth currently and will only add to the squad where it is desperately required, ie LB as only have Rommens and youth players. CB is the only other position we are light in as have 2 players for every other position until start moving players on.

The only club that won't spend till they sell is across the city, hence why with such a massive rebuild needed they won't spend a penny now until Maeda confirmed to Ipswich.

We won't stockpile players and have a bloated squad just to appease the fans, it has to be done sensibly. The unfortunate thing is that the players we are willing to sell and have interest are not top targets for those clubs, domino effect needs to happen. Still plenty of time, if it means we miss out on some targets so be it, the club will have spoken to many players in many positions.

Are you BuzzBum in disguise?

24 Jul 2026 17:47:58
Full moon tonight? He'll be howling soon.

24 Jul 2026 18:33:21
I honestly thought he would have been more concerned with the rumours that Mon has resigned?

23 Jul 2026 18:43:04
Exactly ehl, Scottish football is a footballing back water, just got to look at Hearts n Hibs results in Europe, I've actually just sold my season ticket on, living in England I can get tickets for a lot of games down here and watch a far superior product without a 12 hour round trip, don't blame the lad refusing to come to a poor league in favour of playing in Italy

White Shark, I totally believe if these Euro ties were played 4 weeks later the results would have been different.

We need to realign our season with the countries who we generally are drawn against in these qualifiers to give our teams a better chance.

24 Jul 2026 07:15:30
100% Stevie. Surely we could end season 4 weeks earlier and go back earlier? Makes far too much sense.

24 Jul 2026 08:04:55
Unfortunately, we are keeping in line with majority of Europe. However, plenty of countries are in the same boat and seem to cope better. And it's hard enough trying to sign players this early in the window, can u imagine starting a month earlier? How about better preparation and attitude.

These are professional players, regularly getting knocked out by amateurs. Rohl wanted us in a week earlier and one of 1st things we did when he left was cancel it.

24 Jul 2026 18:00:00
Aligning with the minority is not the answer. The transfer window wouldn't work in our favour, and the majority would be moaning about that when we inevitably started our campaign with very little business done.

Vanja Dragojevic official announcement now.

Why's it feel like we're standing still on transfers and feels like we going to fall short start of the season, no one want our players?? And we anit buying Dahl by the looks of it.

That aged well.

23 Jul 2026 15:28:07
So far we have had many opinions on last nights game. And many on one player big Manny it wasn't his best game ever but he won MOTM from Kevin Thompson last night on RTV. I noticed a few people say we won't win the league ect.

But these are same ones saying he was worth 30 millions last season but now he's crap after one friendly Game
So what is it Good enough to go to Arsenal for 20+ million or bench warmer at Ibrox?

Rangers will make some coin from Fernandez. The 12th, things he needs to improve on, yes, but he was many things that shows him having outstanding potential for a modern central half, excellent use of the ball, could maybe move it on fastest, mind you, but that is only learned through experience, and the correct coaching, wins the majority of balls in the air, good footballer for being a cb, always going to score goals from set plays.

23 Jul 2026 22:10:57
Tells you all you need to know about Kevin Thomson.
