I don't claim to know him personally, but he's a coleraine man, as is Michelle Fairley from GOT, and I would see him round the town and at the coleraine games a fair bit.

Down to earth geezer with typical coleraine humour, quick, to the point, and cut the knickers from under you.

As to which foot he kicks with, I couldn't possibly say 👀.

Noticed that Cameron wasn't even on the bench yesterday I would have thought that was a game that would have suited his runs from midfield. IMO he's a lot better option than Aasgaard I was really looking forward to him plying his trade for us does anyone know why he's not fancied.

Agreed BT I've been waiting for Cameron to get a run he has bags of energy but obviously not fancied by DR who sees him everyday, shame as he will move on to motherwell, Hibs or Hearts and we will see him help someone else team instead.

is he a lot better an option than Aasgaard though? He was poor against Celtic but i'm happy he was playing vs St Mirren and Motherwell which are two tough games.

with the recent performances of Chermiti and the fans u-turn on him and the fact Aasgaard was in good form going in to the game two goals and an assist in his last 3 games previous to saturday is he going to get any slack considering he played a big part in the 6 points previous to the Celtic game or is he just back to completely rubbish because he was hooked at half time. Can see the exact same thing happening with Chermiti next time he has a bad game.

Not seen enough of Cameron to be able to say whether he is better than Aasgaard or not. If I'm honest I don't believe any Rangers fan has seen enough to make that judgement. And that's not me defending Aasgaard.

It's me stating that I don't understand the hype with Cameron when he has hardly played. Just because he done well at Dundee means nothing. Just look at Miovski.

Stevie do you believe Cameron would get in the best Norway squad of our lifetime mate? my answer is 100% no, but Aasgaard scored 4 goals in 23 minutes for them, his work rate was improved dramatically against St Mirren, give the man another few months and see if he can adapt to out league first, if not sold in the summer, many good players fail in our league mate.

my granny could've scored 4 times in that game. Tells you a lot that he scored 4 and didn't get the match ball as someone scored 5.
I think he's okay in some games. I remember how good his first goal for us was. Don't think he can handle the pace. I honestly think he only got taken off to stop him getting a second yellow.

JFM but yet Haaland only managed to score 5 and he played the whole game so for Aasgaard to come on in the 64th minute, score a 12 minute hat-trick and get 4 was none too shabby. no other starter or sub scored 4 either so belittling the achievement is just poor.

I do agree that he was taken off due partly to the yellow; he thought about pulling Yang back at their goal and would have I think if he didn't already have a yellow.

International football is completely different to club football. Norway team he is playing with some better players also. I haven't see enough of Cameron to say he is better especially in a Rangers strip no one has. We need to go with manager on this one I think.

think a lot of people associate lyall Cameron with being a really young player, you often see "young lyall Cameron used" and he is young but he's also the same age as Aasgaard.

Aasgaard can still be developed, he has good attributes just as Cameron has. Both have about 3 years until they start hitting their primes, I wouldn't be counting either out.

Manager said last week he was included and got minutes because of his performance across the week at training. so perhaps he didn't this week for whatever reason. he also had an injury recently so perhaps a relapse.

Angus and mystar wind your necks in. Its ok for you guys to big him up for scoring 4 goals.
You need to look at all aspects of the game not just the bits that suit your argument.
The opposition were rotten and he played with a high standard of team mates.


He's not doing it often enough for Rangers. I couldn't care less what he does for Norway.
I see good things from him in small patches but he's very inconsistent. If you can't see that that's fine but its my opinion.

The yellow card given to Aasgaard fundamentally changed his game. As mentioned above, he pulled out of a challenge on Yang for the first goal as he knew it would lead to a red card. That wasn't the only time that happened in the game either. It could be argued that his yellow card was deserved, and being honest I would struggle to argue with that. However, Celtic players did similar/identical things and were not even called out for a foul, never mind a booking.

I just don't see Aasgaard being the terrible player that some here make him out to be, he is very inconsistent and can look very lazy at times, but there is no doubt in my mind that there is a player there. Whether or not he is suited to the game in Scotland is another argument though. Moving him on in January may be the best option, given that he is likely to lose value if he doesn't perform in games, or is left out of the team/squad.

JFM he is getting picked for an international team who won all 8 games in their World Cup qualifying group featuring Italy and Israel. not only that he is getting game time, scoring and assisting for them.

Is that the same international team that Smeichel plays for.
The point is that he is playing with a higher standard of player with Norway.


He doesn't have that standard around him at Rangers and he looks very average in most games he plays for us. He has the odd moment where he does well but very infrequently. As I said I only care what he does with us, not with Norway.

I post a reply against an opinion often without reading who it is unless they specifically mention my name. so just be clear I am not picking on you but trying to have a debate about football; that is what the site is for surely for me to have an opinion and debate with others who hold different opinions. the point was that Aasgaard isn't a poor player. that argument has now been replaced by he is a poor player for Rangers. different arguments I hope you see. my point was that we just need to find the right formation and position to get the best out of him

what he does with Norway btw is relevant as it puts him in the shop window which increases his value and will benefit the club in long-term as we will get more for him as per past debates on why Raskin is worth a higher value. I agree he is playing with a higher standard of player at international level but he is getting a game even though the standard is higher. that therefore means he is decent enough to get picked with them.

oh and I know I mucked up with Schmeichel and if that makes you feel better then have that on me. Life is too short to worry about mistakes like that as we all make them occasionally. as I say no need to get so upset. however I will try to read who posts are form in future so as to not replay to you. that does seem a shame really.

JFM, Schmeichel plays for Denmark. Aasgaard has so far been pretty poor and a let down. You can see he has good technique and has shown flashes, but he seems too slow and lethargic for the Scottish league. He may need more time to settle and get up to speed, so I'm not writing him off yet.

I was surprised Cameron didn't make the squad on Saturday. It may be another flare up of his recurring injury, or Rohl didn't think he showed enough in training. I noted that Dowell was on the bench though.

You come across Angus as a guy who just likes to have the opposite opinion regardless of the topic.
You would be well suited as a politician who is the voice of the opposition.
Don't care one way or the other whether you reply to my posts as long as its about the subject and not accusing me of belittling any player.

Mystar has done it with me with Xhermiti when all I wanted was to find a way to get his confidence up.
I do not think we should be trying to find a system to suit one player. All I want is a level of consistency from our players. i'm not talking about player values by playing well in internationals, I am talking about club performances.

Angus just for a bit of context. Moldova played 8 games in the group and got 1 point. They lost 37 goals and scored 5.
Seems only right that the top team in the group would score more agaist them.

JFM I do happen to have a different opinion a lot/most of the time but mostly it is just because I am a positive guy.
I said I wouldn't respond to your posts because as I have said in the past I don't really like to upset people although that happens as I do have strong opinions; but I am not going to stop having them.
I will draw our discussion to a close now as we are agreeing in a way.

I say he is a decent player, shows it for Norway and we both agree he doesn't do it regularly for Rangers. I think we need to find a way to bring that player out rather than just sell him.

Masterstroke from Rohl taking off the ineffective Aasgaard ( though it could have been anyone ) and brought on Diomande for the 2nd half which changed the game in our favour.
Watched the highlights again - they had 5 decent chances and scored 1 and that doesn't include the 3 on 1 they fecked up as well.
Rangers had 4 glorious chances and scored 3 ( Gassama miss was the other ).


Long way to go.
Difficult game on Tuesday against Aberdeen who although are all over the place at times all raise their games against us.
Still confident we will beat them.
None of this would have looked possible under Martin.
