All reactionaries are paper tigers.
Nothing like a poor performance to bring the doomsday crew out in force.
02 Aug 2026 09:57:13
It's been horrendous over the last 24 hrs. I was going to say embarrassing but more soul destroying. Rome wasn't built in a day.
02 Aug 2026 10:00:53
EHL, I like your comments & info, but seriously, it is not just 1 poor performance, we have clearly not improved the squad which finished a poor 3rd last year. It is obvious to anyone we do not have financial clout to bring in anyone of quality.
& the Manager still has something to prove imo.
Next 3 games? Can you see any improvement on what we have seen already??
02 Aug 2026 09:46:39
And they still don't realise that it's our fanbase that's the problem EHL.
This level of toxicity not only spills over from the stands, terraces, but forums, conversations with pals etc.
Taylor swift had a song called "it's me, I am the problem"
And it's us, we are the problem. I don't include everyone in that off course as I know it's not.
Although I don't think it's a coincidence that the year we one the league was the year no fans were allowed in.
We've been through manager changes, board changes, a ridiculous amount of player changes the past 5 years.
When will the time come when we stop blaming all of these and start looking at ourselves?
All I read is
Board not good enough
Players not good enough
Manager not good enough
He's awful
He's rubbish
It's sad to read and hear.
I wanted Rohl to be given time. However to be hearing McInnes out comments after one game, is ludicrous.
Watching the game on Friday and not long in I'm hearing the usual. Nothing changes, if nothing changes and there's been huge changes everywhere else.
The one thing that hasn't is a large number of the 'fanbase'
02 Aug 2026 09:53:06
Or 13 years of abject failures, EHL. Just saying mate!
02 Aug 2026 10:07:43
This isn't over one match, and the fact people think it is, is soul destroying. This is years of failure continuing. Not won the 1st game in 4 seasons. 🤦♂️ We have fans thinking that's acceptable.
This is years of making the same mistakes over and over again, hoping it will be different.
02 Aug 2026 10:18:29
Name one fan that thinks it's acceptable. I don't think I've seen one fan say this is acceptable. 🧐 Think you're just having a bit of a meltdown, to be honest.
02 Aug 2026 10:22:50
First game of the season was always going to be tough away from home. Dundee were obviously going to give it maximum on the first day at home. Granted, we lack a player who can unlock defences and provide service. We need two of those. It's evolving. Don't panic beats.
Although, I do agree it always seems to take an age to offload players.
Too long.
Also, agree that Shankland as captain may be a mistake as I expect him to be subbed regularly. He was poor. Anonymous second half, but it's one game. He'll do fine as he wants it as much as we do. All will be fine, I believe.
02 Aug 2026 10:25:05
Tbf, it's doom sayers and happy clappers, very little, if any, middle ground.
02 Aug 2026 10:30:16
Storm, you know I respect your opinion, bud, but you can't taint the new manager with past failures.
We need a mental (and emotional) clean slate and judge him from this season.
And don't think for a minute I'm a happy clapper, I can see the lack of quality but I can also see a plan of building a tough spine of leaders to start with and then add in the quality players on top.
We now need 4 or 5 TOP quality signings.
In my opinion, 2 CB; 1 LB; a creative MF and a quality winger.
I will judge DM and AC as harshly as anyone, but at the END of the season, not after 1 game.
I also realise everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that, but some of the comments on here have been wild since the DU game.
Any way, it's the Lord's Day. God bless you all and your families. 🙏
02 Aug 2026 10:56:34
Some good replies. There is a difference between doom-mongering and expressing concern. Some posts are more hysterical than others, but in the main I think most are legitimate concerns at present.
We still have time to rectify it, so everyone should prob relax a bit, myself included, and judge later on.
I trust the manager to get what we need.
Celtic will probably win comfortably tomorrow. Let's not use that as an excuse to moan when it happens as well.
02 Aug 2026 11:14:33
Tav, I ain't having a meltdown. 🤦♂️ I am very concerned at the lack of quality we have brought in. All we have done is bring in squad players, which we have done consistently for the last few years, and we expect to get better. 👍 Maybe comment on the team instead of a poster, but that's all you do. 😂 Tav, every happy clapper that is making excuses for Friday night is making it acceptable.
Athole, you the problem I have with this manager is I don't think he is good enough and should never be anywhere near the Rangers job, but I will back him to a point.
If this was any manager we have had out of the last 3, they would be getting dogs abuse, but it's because he is a Rangers fan and is staunch, he will get away with it.
Big Dado, Celtic will more than likely win the league because they bring in quality instead of quantity, but some can't see it. They just say they are rubbish. 😂 But that rubbish wins the league year after year. Last year we had guys saying we had the better team, the better squad, and we couldn't even finish 2nd to them.
02 Aug 2026 11:16:17
Gazza, a Taylor Swift song, really? Also, blaming the fans. 😂 Yeah, it's the fans' fault, our recruitment team have continued to bring in bang average players that are not up to it, and the board for constantly getting the manager wrong. 👍 All the fans' fault. Jesus wept.
02 Aug 2026 11:26:01
Bang on Ehl, 86/87, we lost the opening game to Hibs, 2nd game, we beat Falkirk 1-0 then got beat 3-2 off of United, even though we were 2-0 up at halftime. Come the end of the season, we were champions. This season has seen a World Cup and our season start in July.
We've had hardly any preseason friendlies, and, due to players' time at and off after the World Cup, dealings aren't as straightforward as normal. Don't look too much into results now. We will be sound.
02 Aug 2026 11:37:17
We all hurt when we drop points and we all want to see us back at the top (all, used loosely as there are a lot of imposters on this site).
We dropped 2 points, our performance was poor and many of the squad aren't at the standard we'd all like to see.
However, we have to show some patience whilst the club tries to right the wrongs of seasons past, there is no quick fix and I suspect we're going to be pretty ugly for the first 3 months.
Personally, I think this will be the making for a lot of the squad and through this process we'll start to see the characteristics we have been missing for a long time.
From this, we can then genuinely start to build.
But patience will be required.
I also agree with Fork, and I'd probably go as far to say that the Happy Clappers are worse than the Doomsday Squad.
£30m for Fernandez, who cost us two points and almost three through sheer laziness. Please, pull your heads out the clouds.
02 Aug 2026 11:38:45
3 trophies in 15 years bring out the frustrations. Not one result against Dundee United, but fans can be forgiven for the feelings of deja vu, especially when certain areas of the team haven't been addressed by the time the season starts, and others are over populated - if we wait a month to get the attacking players we want in we risk being 5 or 6 points behind and up against it again. We continually buy mediocrity in bulk rather than trying to find maybe 4 or 5 who will actually make a difference. Yes, it's hard to get that quality to Scotland, but Celtic seem able to do it, so we should too. I think fans would accept a year or 18 months of a proper team being steadily built if the club were clear that was the strategy.
It seems to me that we as fans are so impatient for success (rightly in some ways) that the club think a complete overhaul every season is the way to appease the fans and achieve this. It just leads to a continued cycle of failure. The one manager afforded time to add players over a few seasons won us the only title in the last 15 years. Yes, he bought some dross too, but there was less of a scattergun approach to transfers. Who from this squad would get into Gerrard's league winning side?
02 Aug 2026 11:47:15
No Livibear, we got beat our first 2 games, my friend. 🤔 Our first game that season was Hibs 2 Rangers 1, and our player manager Graeme Souness got sent off for raking his studs down George McCluskey's shin, as I was at the game with my dad.
🤔 We lost our second game at home to Dundee United 3-2 after leading 2-0, with our former player, the late Ian Redford, God rest him, scoring the winner for Utd. Again, I was at the game. 🤔 🇬🇧
02 Aug 2026 11:58:09
As always Fork, the voice of reason on here.
We are all guilty of getting carried away in the heat of the moment after dropping points, but we need to be patient. People slaughtering the recruitment, myself included, there is still a month to go, so let's wait and see what unfolds.
Absolutely wild to slaughter every new signing as well after one competitive game. Knives out for Shankland after one game where he was given virtually no service cause he didn't press like a 19 year old making his debut, he's nearly 30, he's never going to be a pressing demon up front, but if you create chances he'll score goals and we needed that last season, have some faith in the players.
Neil, another one I probably didn't want to sign, but he's been nowhere near as bad as people are making out.
Have some faith. It's been one game. Back the manager and team for more than a game before calling everyone not good enough.
02 Aug 2026 12:02:57
Very true about Celtic storm, although their recent transfers haven't been all that great. To this day Postecoglus signings are their best players. They've been downgrading as well, imo.
I think they've recognised that with signing 11m Hogh.
Until we can get into a position where we only need 3-4 additions per summer window it's going to continue like this. Hopefully no more 8-10 signings every year.
02 Aug 2026 12:59:51
Ah of course. It's all down to the toxic fans again that made us 3rd last year and that we haven't signed any players that have improved us. Thanks guys. 👍
Sorry, but it's not a reaction to one game.
It's not like there's been a sudden u turn because of it. It's an ongoing concern from last season because nothing has been done to change things, in fact, we are probably in a worse situation.
02 Aug 2026 13:00:05
Storm, what are you talking about mate, he'll get away with it because he's a Rangers fan and staunch. Get away with what? What is it you are suggesting we do after a draw in the first game of the season, boo 👎, or what? Or come on here and lose our 💩 after a draw? Someone said to you yesterday he needs time, to which you replied no he doesn't, if he's not up to it he should be sacked. So when do we know, or when do you know when he should be sacked? It's blatantly obvious to this point that he's been badly let down in terms of quality being brought in, but you're already having conversations about him being sacked, it's absolutely absurd. It's been the exact same on here past 4 seasons when we haven't got a result in the first game, some lose their 💩, some say give it time.
It has absolutely nothing to do with him being a Rangers fan and staunch. He's had a few weeks to gel a squad together and after 1 draw fans like you are chatting about sacking him, but you tell Gazza that the fans have no part in what goes on behind the scenes, I don't believe that to be true. I believe the fans played a huge part in Gio and Clement sackings, leading to new manager, new backroom team constantly, also Ibrox being toxic to play in at times, but yet the same fans demand instant success like you're doing now. We will never be successful until we have a settled manager and team, just like the last manager that was given time. Storm, I could be wrong, but did you not back Danny Rohl?
02 Aug 2026 13:06:26
I would like to know what all those who predicted a Rangers win against Dundee United based it on. Certainly wasn't on anything shown in pre season. Those of us, including me, that are concerned about how the team is shaping up have every right to be. We are called gloom and doom merchants, but we are actually the realists who can see through the hype surrounding the manager and most of the new signings, and established players, to be honest.
The score was 1-1, we played badly, defended badly and should probably have lost if not for that miss at the end. As I say, realists not doom sayers.
02 Aug 2026 13:08:35
It's not good enough. Do you want people to lie and tell you it is? It needs to improve.
02 Aug 2026 13:07:34
you are having a meltdown, literally nobody thinks it's acceptable and you still couldn't answer it 😂
How can you say comment on the team instead of posters but keep calling people happy clappers, I don't know what planet you live on. Planet angry perhaps
02 Aug 2026 13:58:37
Strom, I think you're missing my point.
Nowhere did I say it was the fans' fault that recruitment has been poor.
However, we have had 5 years of change upon change, upon change, and, for many, nothing or no one is ever good enough.
Could have God at the top, and it still wouldn't be good enough.
After a disappointing result - yet again, no one is good enough. Really?
All I hear is fans who don't want to have a good look at themselves, and are quite happy living in the past, their toxicity.
We need to change too.
02 Aug 2026 14:38:06
Boy Blue, there's no trying with some people, mate, I'd just leave him to it.
02 Aug 2026 16:14:32
Bb4, I backed every manager that has come into start with. The only manager that I have ever said I wanted was Knutsen whether we could get him is a different matter but it's the only manager I have ever said on here I wanted.i also got dogs abuse on here end of last season for wanting Rohl out so you are wrong mate. Gazza was blaming the fans.
Gazza, you are blaming the fans this is not the fans fault so I have no idea what you are talking about.
Tav, again nothing to say on the matter other than just having a go at me. 🤦♂️ If you have that much of a problem with me just use the 'ignore' function with my username. 👍
02 Aug 2026 22:30:19
Strom, again, I haven't once said the fans are responsible for player recruitment or board decisions. What I'm trying to say, which you keep dodging, is that way we conduct ourselves, and environment matters.
