What are everyone's thoughts on our transfer window so far?
Looking at it from Derek McInnes point of view, I can understand why he might feel this is one of the strongest squads he's worked with. Compared to some of the teams he's managed previously, there's definitely more quality available.
But Rangers is a different level.
The expectation isn't to finish second or have a decent season. Second place is effectively last place. The expectation is to win the league, compete in Europe and have a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.
Personally, I still don't think we're quite there.
We've improved in some areas, but I'm not convinced we've strengthened as much as I expected. There are still positions that look light, particularly in defence and the wide areas, and I still think we're lacking a few genuine game changers who can make the difference in the biggest matches.
There's still time left in the window, so hopefully there's more to come, but if it closed today, would you honestly say this squad is strong enough to win the title I honestly don't think so
Was expecting a lot more in, however I also expected a lot more outgoings.
Story of our past seasons though

Apart from Raskin & Souttar, is any team in for any other players? Doesn't look like it.

If we get 2 decent wingers, LB, RB and x2 CHs, and Dahl or creative attacker, then I will be happy. We should have enough to get past Dundee United, so these players are not essential this week, but will be required over the next few.
Over the last few years, I thought we were doing ok and gut pumped in the end. Mcinness might be able to make us more than the sum of our parts. He proved that at Aberdeen and Hearts over the years.
28 Jul 2026 20:54:48
I'd say we're weaker than last season unfortunately.
28 Jul 2026 20:56:40
Can't see Tjbb, it'll be a right wing center back and Dahl or a left wing at best. We won't sign 7.
28 Jul 2026 20:56:52
In a perfect world, I think we are short a starting RB, LCD, a play-making midfielder and 2 quality wingers. Also, a backup LB and CD.
28 Jul 2026 20:59:48
I don't think we have improved much at all.
Looking at current squad, I would say we are worse off in certain areas and areas still not been sorted that needed sorted years ago.
But still time, but not impressed with some signings.
Celtic have signed real quality at top end pitch and we are still struggling to score and create as been like this for years now still not addressed big worry heading to new season.

Dun United have had a couple of competitive games already & will come at us on Friday, as we are clearly not settled yet.
I see a big wake up call coming.
Please prove me wrong.

I hate seeing negativity on here, but I am getting worried. Started well with McInnes and Shankland, but kind of petered out.
28 Jul 2026 21:23:19
I think we've lost our most creative players from last year, and failed to replace that creativity to date. But we have gained a more solid defensive cohesion. So, atm, I feel we're not weaker than last season. But heading in the right direction, I hope.
28 Jul 2026 21:41:46
I don't think with the squad we have just now we will win the league. That's not being negative that's being realistic.
28 Jul 2026 21:45:44
I think each of the players we've brought in have a role to play, but I'd have been bringing those guys in after we had signed others if that makes sense. Ending the season, my priorities were a pair of CBs, a starting right back and a LB to compete with Rommens, a number 6, a number 10 and a winger.
Other than Godfrey, we still need another CB (African lad might be that), a RB, LB, 6, 10 and a winger. So, all in all, I think we've gone about things in a back to front manner.

Mukhanya has agreed to come. Don't know what you're on about hitting the post this week.
28 Jul 2026 21:51:15
I agree, Storm.
But really hoping we can get the added quality in the positions we need over coming weeks.
It does really look like we need some to leave before we can get some more in.
28 Jul 2026 21:56:42
Totally agree, Storm. We do look very light in depth, and the winger situation is quite concerning for me, but hopefully they can prove us wrong.
28 Jul 2026 22:19:54
I am hoping the sum is greater than the individual parts. We have had good players before but never a good enough team. So, perhaps this time we have a good team without good individuals (although we have good players). Yes, we do need players to fill the gaps in the squad, but until then we need to realise McInnes was hired as he can get lesser players to play as a unit.
Transfer windows always go like this: early activity, then a lull before the rush at the end. I don't think this will be any different.
28 Jul 2026 22:20:03
How much did McInnes coming in change the plans for transfers? If he is to have the final say, we could have been in advance talks with players under Rohl that McInnes didn't want, and we are starting from scratch to get McInnes targets or players he fancies.
And, vice versa, players may now have seen a change of manager and changed their minds on coming to us.
We can judge the squad when the window closes. Ideally we all wanted to have more business done by this stage with the first league game on Friday.
28 Jul 2026 22:53:37
So far the business has been excellent.
All signings have been exactly what we need.
It isn't about so far, though it's about the rest of it.
We need to finish with 2 left backs.
We need 2 centre backs in, and 2 out.
We need to move on Raskin, Dio, Barron, and Bajrami, and we need to sign Dahl.
We need 2 right forwards in, and loan Curtis out, and sell Antman.
Sell Gassama, and bring in Moore on loan, and keep Aasgaard for left forward with Moore.
We all pretty much agree on most of that, I'd say, no?
28 Jul 2026 23:31:49
All very well and good talking about Dundee United, but we have Europa League qualies next week too.
28 Jul 2026 23:50:53
Decent Antman fee should give us the opportunity to bring in a very good replacement.
29 Jul 2026 00:21:37
Scotty, we've accepted £4.5m from Anderlecht. It's up to the player. He will take them up, mate, so that's him away imo.
