Good interview with our chairman Andrew Cavanagh today. A year since the takeover and things haven't went to plan however I admire his honesty and desire to get things right. I trust he will bring us back to where we belong

29 May 2026 14:05:48
I will catch it later, but words mean absolutely nothing, imo. It's all about action. Though I have been impressed with the amount of times he has spoken and been seen at games, as I didn't think it would have been as much as it had.

29 May 2026 14:10:26
Hope so, fourlads. We are counting on it. I'm quietly confident.

29 May 2026 15:33:16
I like Mr C, he talks sense, and imo, he has shown action. Backed 2 managers financially, acted when RM became untenable, came out in support of Rohl. Got us in a stable financial base with a valuable squad. Not a bad year's work.

29 May 2026 15:46:49
I agree, Storm, words mean nothing until the title is back in our hands. I too am impressed how regularly he has been at games and speaking.

29 May 2026 15:51:04
I disagree on not a bad year's work. We had a mare of a year at his leadership. Fair play for trying to turn things around and changing when it's not working, but finishing 3rd in the league and a full scale rebuild on the cards (yet again) can't be viewed as a success in my opinion.

29 May 2026 15:52:33
Too many false dawns in past 15 seasons to get overconfident. It's time to produce on the park.

29 May 2026 16:42:05
Four lads and Storm. Really. Man came in, first year, with a new boardroom, manager, and players, and, by the sounds of it, you expect miracles. Yes, trophies count, but let's be realistic here and actually give the man credit for what he's done in a short space of time, rather than what he's not done by winning anything in his first year.

I'm really bemused by fans like yourselves.

29 May 2026 17:36:28
Take a look at some of the big EPL teams & how their seasons have been up & down ~ some have been very surprising, including Tottenham, Chelsea & Man United for the past few seasons. With all the top managers they have had, including the money, you would think success is guaranteed.

Not always the way. We will come good without a doubt. Sometimes a little patience is needed to iron out the creases. Onwards & upwards.

29 May 2026 17:51:14
Davie. ?

29 May 2026 17:52:37
Not asking for miracles, Davie, but to finish 3rd in a 2 horse race is poor, mate, no matter what was going on behind the scenes.

29 May 2026 17:57:19
Davies, yes all new, but to not even finish second is a total failure no matter how you look at it, plus poor showings in cups & Europe.
Lots of mistakes, but he was well advised against appointing Martin, but let it go ahead.

29 May 2026 18:02:24
Think we should really look forward this year instead of backwards.

I reckon we will have a really good year this year - can feel it.

Oh oh. Feel a song coming on. ?

? "Can you feel it, Can you feel it
"It's like a new emotion,
I feel the energy rushing over me,
I never felt so good inside,
Can you feel it? Can you feel it?" ?

29 May 2026 18:42:40
Can't beat a bit of TTF Stig. ?

29 May 2026 18:44:18
Davie, what are you on about? Am bemused with people talking bs. I never had a go at him, just said I would rather actions to talking, then I praised him. Maybe read what I say properly before posting. ?

29 May 2026 18:44:39
That is 100% correct bb4.

29 May 2026 19:34:49
Backed Stewart, appointed Thelwell and Martin and Rohl. His track record has been horrendous last season and the season of failure is as much at his door as anyone's. He can come out and talk all he likes but until he actually manages to do something right then all it is is talk. Confirming Rohl as manager for another season is not a great start.

29 May 2026 19:57:34
But yet he put up over £100M to save our club (again). So, give the guy a break, fgs. Yes, we were 3rd in a 12 horse race; that attitude is why other teams fans don't like Rangers fans, btw. He is putting processes and plans in place to get us to the top again. The fact that fans all want it to happen 3 seasons ago is no reason to not think he has done.

A decent job; yes, mistakes, but he is learning from them. What is it that everyone always says on here (and lies about) that if they see progress they will be happy? I agree with Davie here.

29 May 2026 20:03:17
Angus, it was not a 12 horse race, it was 3rd in a 2 horse race, mate. ?

29 May 2026 20:27:11
Totally correct Storm!!. ✌️ ??

29 May 2026 21:35:00
Sometimes words are part of the actions. Being able to show that he has learned and is able to explain changes and what actions are needed. Now it's about putting them in place, which we seem to be doing.

29 May 2026 22:27:13
storm keep spouting cliches if you want but there are 12 'horses' in the race. the fact that not all of them can win doesn't change that fact. but if you want to then we were 3rd in a 1 horse race as we have been nowhere near good enough to win for a long time. what is it they say 2nd is last in Glasgow. So what does it matter where we ended up if we didn't win it.

unlike you I am able to put up with some short-term pain so that we can progress slightly more slowly to actually become top dogs again. or as you and a lot of fans want, if it doesn't work in 6 weeks then sack the manager and start again. but still say you will back them until we lose the first game at which point you will be first dog at his neck.

29 May 2026 22:55:01
Storm your reply to Angus just proves I'm correct. How many teams are in the league. 12 yes. so it's not a 2 horse race as you call it. Going by your comments I'm presuming when you start a new job on day1 you never make a mistake and your the best company employee.

Expectations and reality i think bypass you with your comments. So ac has done rubbish since arriving. Simple yes or no cause quite simply the rest you say I'm struggling to even understand how a gers fan can think like that

30 May 2026 00:40:57
Progress? Just by the definition, you are wrong. We have regressed, not progressed, as I'm sure we finished 2nd last year and now 3rd, all while spending over £40m.

So, I think criticism is fair enough, and it is actions that speak louder than words, as Storm has stated.

Also, maybe 12 "horses" in the race as you say, but only ever 2 favourites year in, year out. Again, records show it is a 2 "horse" race.

30 May 2026 01:42:19
BbJ, they are just using the 12 horse race to try and prove their argument which is just making them both look silly. ?

30 May 2026 01:41:36
Davie it doesn't prove you correct ? the majority of Rangers fans will say it's a 2 horse race at the start of every season and if you say you haven't then you are a liar. It's been mentioned hundreds of times on here and you haven't pulled anyone else up for it funny that ?.

Angus it has been a 2 horse race since the 80s now stop being silly like Davie.

30 May 2026 01:44:07
Where have I said AC has done rubbish Davie please enlighten me? I have not said that once on these pages and I think you have difficult reading comments? I would see a doctor about that mate genuinely.

Ps he hasn't don't a great job that's for sure 40 million spent to become 3rd in a 2 horse race ?

30 May 2026 09:19:42
There are 12 teams in the league, so whether they win or not doesn't mean they aren't in the race. Looking at it as blinkered as you are means we came third in a one-horse race. Hearts show what can be done with a bit of ambition, and hopefully others follow.

You won't see improvement if all you look at is league position. But improvement is made in many more ways than that this season, following the takeover. The position was caused by our post-split collapse, nothing else.

Rohl improved the way we played and went on our longest unbeaten run for a while. Our attack scored more goals than any other team in the league. Our defence, although letting in lots of goals post transfer window, were still amongst the lowest goals conceded. Both show good things for the future.

We integrated a lot of younger players into our starting 11 and had a lower average age than we have had for any season, including our title-winning one, by around 3 years.

This dramatic reduction in average age is a primary proof of club progress; we replaced an ageing, declining squad with a young, high-value foundation built for the future.

Off the field, our turnover increased by 7% to a record breaking £94M, so our underlying business performance improved. This will provide further funds for investment in the team, which will lead to better infield performances.

So yes, we finished 3rd. But that will be a one off and the improvements we are making will deliver success in future, and this time it will be continued and sustainable when it comes.

So, looking at the bigger, longer-term picture, we have improved, but it might take a little longer for it to transfer to the pitch fully.

30 May 2026 10:35:01
2 horse race ?‍♂️?‍♂️ For next season, can the 10 other teams not play please.

30 May 2026 11:47:24
I think we are all being a bit disrespectful to Hearts when we continue the old mantra of "a 2 horse race", when we all know, realistically, that Hearts should have won the league.

Yes, it's still to be seen if they can have another good go next season, but McInnes is a very good manager, with a great system behind him to help him mount another serious challenge to the Old Firm.
