quick question Will Danny Rohl, if he stays be able to compete with the new Celtic manager next season who will be either Robbie Keanne or Roberto Martinez. throw in a more experienced McInnes and the up n coming Motherwell manager. I think we all know the answer.

06 May 2026 15:47:50
I think it all depends on recruitment being completely honest. Doesn't matter what coach you have; if you set him up to fail, he most likely will. Same goes for Celtic; they have a lot of big players at the end of their cycle, so they will likely need a new spine as well as us.

Ultimately, it will come down to who builds the better team, not buys the better players.

I'm of the belief that we will recruit heavily and look to build a squad which will compete physically and technically.

06 May 2026 15:54:06
No. Any sort of pressure or setback, we collapse.

06 May 2026 16:08:29
Recruitment is the key to your question, Deecee. ? It can't be the manager all the time, and continually changing managers is not the answer. ? We stick by Danny Rohl and see what he builds for next season, but he has to be enormously helped by good recruitment. ?

06 May 2026 16:28:19
If u recruit bottom six players, there is the answer.

06 May 2026 16:35:35
In a nutshell, John2575.

06 May 2026 16:36:14
Yes, I have no doubt whatsoever that Danny Rohl's team will win the league next season in style.

06 May 2026 16:47:15
Same question, but different for you, deecee.

Will the new Celtic manager get their tactics right? Will Celtic get their transfers right? Look at their summer and January windows. Also, how are you so sure on the manager when Askou has been favourite, as have the two you mentioned, and nobody actually knows the answer yet.

Will the Hearts players who have never performed to the levels of this season before be able to repeat it next season whilst competing in Europe, which they didn't have to this season, and out both cups early?

Will Motherwell be able to keep their manager and players when Maswanhise was already being scouted in January from down south, loan players will go back to parent clubs, and Rangers and Celtic may poach players from them like Elijah Just? Askou has also had relegations as a manager, so let's not pretend he's flawless.

But, to answer your question, if we get the recruitment right and do it early, then yes, I think Danny Rohl will win the league, so yes we do know the answer.

06 May 2026 17:13:15
I have a sneaky feeling Mon will be the Celtic Manager next season & Hearts will be much weaker next season.

We'll rebuild, get excited about every player, coach, accountant and chef we sign, find justification as to why we're back, lose a preseason friendly and then write the season off before it's even started.

Spoiler alert, it's the chefs fault.

06 May 2026 17:16:01
Good post, AM.

06 May 2026 17:38:32
Different expectations next season for Hearts. European football for a start, and I doubt the fans will accept going out of both cups as early.
Motherwell will lose players, but it's a chance for their manager to prove he isn't a one season wonder and Celtic will always start as favourites.

I notice people are mentioning mentality. Do many, if any, of our players have winning league medals from other leagues they have played in?

06 May 2026 17:49:52
Bloody obviously the chefs' fault, EHL. Someone put a post up yesterday which was a very good read about how when Danny was at SW his second season was so much better in just about every metric. That gives me hope. We were looking for improvement, and thus far we have, but we really need to win at least 2 of the remaining 3 for that improvement to be cemented. Gerrard made improvement, that's why he got the time.

Danny should be no different. I do have concerns. Firstly, I think the league will be harder to win next season; secondly, his selection of players/positions; thirdly, his timing of subs, not being able to spot when a game is getting away from us. Having said all that, he's a young manager that will hopefully learn from these mistakes. I have loads of concerns about players as well, but I'll always back them 100% until I don't.

06 May 2026 17:53:18
I've heard from a reliable source, Celtic behind the scenes is a total mess. Dunno about Hearts, they could build a reasonable team on a modest budget. Rangers just need better players mixed with Ronseal type players; atm we are in a no-man's land with players neither great nor Ronseal.

06 May 2026 17:54:58
I agree, Ehl. As long as we don't recruit Colin Chisholm as lead singer.

06 May 2026 18:32:36
John, Hearts are about to win the league with a back 4 of bottom 6 players. Halkett was at Livi, Findlay at Killie, Milne at Partick, and their RBs are all from lower division.
That means it must be the manager, which is why I'd have McInnes in a heartbeat, but can't see that happening now.

06 May 2026 18:53:05
Get Ferguson and shankland in along with a bigger name, shanks could still do a massive job for Rangers and bring the Rangers feel back to the dressing room alongside Ferguson, and I would also have McLean, great player and very clever who can shoot too, something we specialise in ignoring, , get those three in then build all around them, I'm not saying shanks starts every game, I'm saying he's perfect for bringing back the Rangers dna to Ibrox.

Something that has been missing for far too long imo, real Rangers to the very core, it should never ever be underestimated.

06 May 2026 19:21:13
I don't get the Askou love in, they have done well, l for Motherwell, and beat us, but his record in the league is nothing great, 5 losses in the last 7, and the fact they haven't beaten Falkirk in 4 games is not the record of a great manager, especially as his team contains 5 players who are in the PFA team of the year.

Suggests that he isn't getting the best results from outstanding players. Pretty possession football doesn't always amount to a winning team, and that is all that is acceptable at Ibrox.

06 May 2026 19:42:14
And what outstanding players does he have, wsl? What's acceptable at Ibrox and what the reality is are 2 very different things, mate.

06 May 2026 19:48:19
Why do you think Hearts will be much weaker next season? EHL

06 May 2026 19:52:16
Agree with you, TomThumb. We badly need a Scottish core and then supplement it with good technical players. The amount of players we've let get away, and then wasted money on sub standard players is unbelievable.
Shankland on a free, no, we'll sign Chermiti (not a dig at him).

Ferguson for a few million. Naw, we'll spend 3m on Aasgaard.
Young Curtis scoring goals every time he plays. We'll loan him out and play Gassama.
Maswanise would've been 5m or less. We'll spend 5m on an injury prone striker from the third tier in Germany.
It's absolutely mental.

06 May 2026 19:54:45
Whatsmyname, I suspect they'll lose players who will be very difficult to replace, additional pressure and expectation, midweek games, and typically there's a huge fall off after a team wins the league for the first time.

06 May 2026 20:57:52
Considering, since Danny took over, we would be top by 4 points. Think that's your answer really. Nobody can say yes or no for next season. We get our recruitment right or wrong, then there will be your answer, I think.

07 May 2026 08:43:15
Think Shankland ship has sailed. I was screaming for him on a free & we didn't. Can't see us forking out for him now. Big mistake in my eyes; would have softened the blow of losing Dessers (who I also wish we kept, if for his effort alone). Ferguson I think is also beyond us financially, but I would love him.

Have to agree with Blue 100%. Season after season we let good Scottish lads move abroad & spent money on foreign knock offs & that has to stop. Hoping we get a few Scots in during summer & I'd like to see us sign 1 or 2 Scots every season after that to keep a strong Scottish core.
