Hi

I would be a lot more confident in wining league or cup with a fit C Barron in the team, been singing his praises since he arrived from Aberdeen.

For me his energy and vision and determination is a huge loss, the quicker he is back the better.

I don't mind playing Celtic next in the cup, we need to meet them sometime to win the cup!

The next few games won't be easy and could be the catalyst to wining the league.

Barron has been great in games for us, really like him.

However, who does he replace?

Big Chukwuani is a very good player, so he starts for me.

So either Raskin, Barron, or Diomande are next to him.

I'm not sure Barron keeps Raskin out the team.

The formation at the weekend looked great. Obviously, i'm aware of the lower level opposition, but still.

I sort of get your point, golfeggman, but I think Chukwuani is an upgrade.

09 Feb 2026 13:18:59
Barron would be one of the 1st names on the team sheet.

Even setting his clear ability aside, it is important to have a Scottish identity when possible.

I sort of agree with the replies. While I thought Barron had a good season up to when he got injured, I fear he may not now be first pick and might be more of a squad player.

09 Feb 2026 13:57:07
I think that we now have options, which is the good thing. I know it was against Queens Park, but did anyone miss Raskin yesterday? No Tochi in the game before, and again you would not have noticed. Players cannot relax anymore, as they have true competition at last. Barron will only add to that.

Barron is a great little player, and, in the last few months, you could argue he was our best. However, not sure the word vision comes to mind when describing him, not in an attack sort of way. I do agree, getting him back will really help the cause though.

09 Feb 2026 14:29:52
Barron and vision should never be used in the same sentence. ?‍♂️ He does the dirty work, yes, but have we missed him? No, we haven't.

09 Feb 2026 15:09:57
I mean, the fact that Barron is injured tells you the story. Squads win championships. Barron was brilliant for us before getting injured and will be again when he comes back.

No player should be guaranteed a start, and every player should be looking over their shoulder.

Arfield didn't start every game, but look at the impact he had in the squad. Same could be made for lots of great players.

09 Feb 2026 15:20:36
We definitely missed him against Hibs.
I'd have Barron in the side before Raskin, based on his form before injury.
But I feel the team might be about to peak without him, so he might find it hard getting back in.

09 Feb 2026 15:42:02
Barron has had a good season, mainly because he showed grit and determination when others didn't. He is a decent passer but doesn't score. I'd say he is a valuable squad player, especially as he's Scottish. Not sure he'd be a guaranteed starter, but valuable all the same.

09 Feb 2026 16:30:19
To be honest, his injury has come at the worst possible time for him. He was playing really well and worthy of his place in the team, but the signings we have made, Chukwuani in particular, have hit the ground running and may make it more difficult to get back into the team. Now, having said that, it's a good thing for the team going forward if there are too many decent players for the positions available.

Keeps everyone on their toes and knowing that they need to play at their best.

In response to some comments above, I would be trying to build a team around Raskin where possible, get him playing, and the team plays around him.

When is Barron due back? He would give us another good option.
As for Motherwell, after Tav playing 90 and the subs he made, I can see a few changes if all fit. My team would be:
Butland
Sterling
Souter
Fernandez
Rummens
Dio
Raskin
Moore
Olson
Nederi
Gassama
Moore in the 10 role.

09 Feb 2026 17:46:00
Can't see Rommens starting, Btblues, don't know if Fernandez is fit enough.

09 Feb 2026 19:18:31
Chukwuani and Rommens start for me. Gassama to come off the bench.
Suspect Djiga will start for his pace against their striker.

09 Feb 2026 21:45:41
BigDado, I just can't see Rommens being fit enough to start, mate.

10 Feb 2026 02:59:10
Dado, on this season's form alone, I'd also pick Barron before Raskin.

10 Feb 2026 07:47:23
Dado, we didn't miss him against Hibs though, did we? Was he the reason we played bad against them? No. What about the games we won, which was a lot more without him than just the Hibs game?
