Should who ever appointed RM as manager and was his biggest backer be held to the same standards as RM . we were told it was a long process to find the right man and others were Interviewed and RM was the strongest candidate. A believe they need sacked with RM. one thing he or they need was to get the first appointment right and they F that right up so why should we trust them get next manager right.

So do we sack the manager and the director of football every time it works out badly. Doing that makes us an even less attractive propostion for anyone of the right quality. Agree they (I remember it beign 3 people) need to be held to account and the club needs to learn form it but we can't just keep sacking everybody every time soemthing doesn't work.

Didn't Thelwell bring Martin in to play though John, do we trust him or them getting the next appointment correct, seemingly a long interview process and they choose a man that no fan wanted near the job, massive mistake in the first main appointment.

Its a quandary right enough, its all well and good getting rid of RM, which is on the wall now if we are honest, he has totally lost the fans, and by the looks of it the players too, but that leaves us with the same people making a decision and hoping they don't repeat a total failure.

Yes, sacking them isn't the issue, repeating the same mistakes when appointing them is the issue which needs addressed. It was clear and obvious from the get go that this was an awful appointment.

Mistakes happen but it would be a bigger mistake carrying on knowing it isn't working. There's a chance for these guys to make a statement by correcting it and admitting the appointment was wrong.

Thanks John I thought I saw 3 people mentioned but couldn't remember who they were.
so if we don't let the club choose how do we plan on doing it. have a forum of fans choose ?. there is never an consensus no matter who it was.
The next manager better be good though if he wants to cut through all the baggage that Ferguson, Clement and now Martin says exists.

Augus, if you had a large company and you hire someone 2 run the business and they get it totally wrong and mess up your business wouldn't you sack them, or would u leave them in the roll 2 do the same mistakes again.

Every new manager is a risk, if it doesn't work you move on. You don't just put up with it for the sake of consistency.
The recruitment process obviously needs to be looked at because the appointment of RM after a 'rigorous process' is a joke.

Angus the thing is with our other managers we at least got a bit of time. This appointment had disaster written all over it from day dot, most people seemed to know this apart from the man hiring. He's had a huge say in transfers, we are basically out of cl, 6 points lost from opening 3 games, dressing room in turmoil, after 8 weeks.
Ppl need held accountable for this mate. I don't want to see people losing there job, but would you be ok for him to hire the next manager? Your a good researcher angus, try and find anything on line that this Thelwell guy has done, as i certainly can't, so why was he offered the job as well? It's a mess!

Davie depends if he identified that there were issues that needed worked through with staff etc and that those people were on fixed contracts and he said he wouldn't be effective until he got rid of the aforementioned then has he failed?

BB4 I don't disagree that it hasn't worked as well as the club owners wanted. I wonder as well what the ask of the manager was. was there mention of the internal player issues and if so did that discourage any big name manager or was that down to price. so as I say I don't think Martin can feasibly stay around and will be sacked sooner or later no matter if the board decide to back him meantime.
also where is the evidence he had a huge say on transfers. I think that is because they are from England but so is everyone else in the chain including the owners form their Leeds connections. If the claim is right that Djiga, Aasgaard, Antman and Gassama were all being looked at before the takeover then that pre-dates Martin et al. so yes someone now decided to proceed but they weer all identified by the previous regime.
what I am saying is that there was a panel of 3 who actually made the decision so do you just sack them all. then if we do who in their right mind is going to come on board knowing they will be sacked if they make a mistake; yes it might be large but what level of mistake is deemed large by fans. there is also the financial cost of that decision.
so in the companies I have been at we would sit down and analyse where we went wrong and try not to make the same mistakes again. I might decide that the decision makers need a greater level of oversight for the next decision or two.
That approach hasn't done me any harm up till now so can't see any reason to change it.
sorry finally re Thelwell google his CV (I had to I admit) and you will see he held that type of position at Everton, Wolves, NY Red bulls, Derby and Preston and held a senior position at the Welsh FA so he is a proven operator in this type of environment. a lot of the thoughts around him are because Everton decided to use a different recruitment model. so did we not ask Koppen to leave and then kept his process in place. btw we were messed up before KT took charge so not sure we can claim he messed the company up.
but it isn't my company and I don't make the decisions but putting forward some thoughts on it and how it works or has worked when I have been.

Taking from something EHL posted we employed consultants to select new manager and they came up with Ancelotti and Rohl as best fit for what 49ers wanted to do going forward. It seems that Thelwell brought Martin in to the equation after that and if that is the case we have wasted money on the consultants and appointed the wrong guy.
