I'm loving the ideas floating about today about sacking RM and being ing this guy or that guy. These same guys that were available this summer.
Either our board are so inept they chose RM over the likes of Marco Rose or they don't want the job!
I fully agree this appointment is somehow worse than what we already feared and do think we should voice our concerns. But don't have much expectation the board will be even considering sacking him right now.
What I would say is the result last night prob isn't bad on paper from the big changes taken place and the level their at V us, we're a team trying to scrape into CL and their scraping into knockouts. the issue I do have is the manner in which it happened last night and the other games performances are the concern.

Sollof, that was a hugely inexperienced Brugge team in the midst of a massive rebuild.
They have lost over 80m in talent this preseason and spent less than half of that on replacements.
They had 6 players 21 or under in their starting line up.
So we were hardly against a team of seasoned European stalwarts.

I am not that far from where you are. If we look at Euro qualification as a whole it's been good. We could have easily been knocked out of Europe completely last night and looking at a financial black hole. Instead we navigated 2 rounds and were eventually found out in this round which these qualifiers tend to do to teams.
I share the frustration we all have and would probably agree with the sack the manager faction in our support if I had not heard the exact same thing for last 4 seasons. It was Gio tactics, then Beale tactics, then PC tactics and now RM. It was Gio clueless, Beale clueless, PC clueless and now RM. The only thing they have in common as managers is the fan reaction.
So I am not buying it that this is the 4th tactically inept and clueless manager we have signed in a row. Particularly as mentioned above they have almost zero in common in terms of tactics and personality. I am also not buying into the idea that we will be better sacking him as we have done this before and I am still waiting on the better happening.
I think the new guys will have been well aware of the problems we have and will back the manager for the majority of the season in order to try and break the cycle.
I don't think the position is hopeless as I think we have improved the squad but we need to see something soon.

Rangers must be one of the few clubs in World football who need players to be given time to settle in and a manager weeks to get his tactics in place.

Shipping goals like that cost games and managers heads - what we leaked 2 at home to Alloa - Div 1- the proof is in the pudding -we have defended like schoolboys for seasons now and its almost a given that we give 1-2 goals per game to ANY team that plays us - so what's not to understand - Russell its time to sort that problem out or you will be doing hair commercials for Head and Shoulders fairly soon ?.

Storm we have different opinions. happy to have a discussion but we have played well on a few occasions under Martin so the players can play it; whenever it happens there is a reason given by the Martin haters to try to explain it but that doesn't change the fact they p[layed 'the system'.
so all the not understanding the system, the players are confused isn't right as they have managed to play it. so I am saying that something happens which causes them not to on other occasions. so what is that? until that is solved by any new manager then we won't see anything change any time soon. the same issue happened with Clement and Ferguson so the concept isn't that hard to believe.
not a defence of Martin more a comment on the supposed mental fragility of the players voiced on here and by ex-players on TV last night.

Sollof could it not also be that Martin wasn't first choice and that what Rangers offered others wasn't what they were looking for and so we then had to opt for RM. Like I said before you need to go all in and pay the money for a good experienced manager that knows how to get things done.

EHL just for balance: yes they were young but only Stankovic and Forbs from their new signings started the match.
7 of their team last night started vs Villa in the last 16 of CL with 2 of the subs in those games Vermant and Spileers coming in. so 9 with experience at that level.
so I would argue against the inexperienced tag and coupled with qualifying for 7 out of 9 last CL groups stages the club has experience of what is needed to succeed.
as a comparison against Bilbao last season in our 1/ 4 final only Raskin played from start in both and Dio in one. a huge turnaround in playing staff.

The quality of player isn't down to Martin. which defender in the world stops tracking back which puts the attacker in on the keeper. why did he stop.
its not an error its unforgivable.
if we can't defend we need score more than the opposition and we aren't doing that either so what chance do we have.

2025/ 2026 - kick in the arse off £200 million.
2024/ 2025 - kick in the arse off £250 million.

And do you honestly believe the Man U fans aren't going off their rocker as much as Rangers fans? Do you think they moaned to the board the6 shouldn't have sacked Moyes etc?

MPH good points and I agree but the counterbalance is has changing manager or spending all that cash made them better in that time. I would argue no and Amorim wasn't a complete success last year with the squad they assembled with that spend. so they have spent even more this year to get players who can finally play his system; still too early to say if that will work.
they have changed the players to suit the managers and we were trying to get away from that. so if we change managers the new man will have to use the players he has (not too bad really) but also play the style the new owners want which is a high possession game if reports are true.

But I don't see Man U fans getting excited about a home defeat to Arsenal just because they played better.
And if it has took Man U 6 attempts to get it right, why can't Rangers hire and fire until they get it right?
I actually believe this squad played under the correct system would be a decent watch and a decent side.
I'm excited about some of them.
But the current tactics are sucking the life out of it.
I'm praying he gets it right - not because I think he will but because we need to get it right sooner rather than later.
