Hayden: We were well aware of where the space would be, how we could hurt Rangers and we took advantage of that.
Martin: It wasn't a tactical issue.
Says it all really.
One coach looking at the opposition and setting their team up accordingly.
One coach focussed on implementing their own style regardless of the players they have or the opposition they face.

Shame some fans refuse to see that EHL.
20 Aug 2025 08:18:23
Brugge played out from the back the way we want to as there was absolutely no urgency or any sort of press from us. What happened to RM saying his team will be aggressive off the ball?
20 Aug 2025 08:23:23
EHL he is married to a system and he requires his ego to be stroked at all times.
Never his fault in his eyes.
20 Aug 2025 08:26:34
Fork, it's because Martin's mind games are working on some fans.
His talk of legacy fear and pain seems to be buying him some time.
Funny how this fear and pain didn't manifest itself in big games prior to his arrival?
We were great Europe and against Celtic last season, but struggled to break 'smaller' teams down.
The fear the team play with now has been installed by a combination of HIM over complicating tactics, HIS poor communication, HIS mind games that have backfired and HIS lack of adaptability.
I said last week that I thought the damage he's doing was getting close to being irrecoverable - well, let's see where we are come the international break.

EHL a bit of context surely is needed though otherwise it becomes a little disingenuous: Martin was saying that we were 2 goals down in 7 minutes and those goals weren't down to tactics and he is right on that. he then says the team then stopped doing what they were meant to do as they panicked/ were afraid.
So what he was actually saying was that the players stopped following the tactics so if that is the case then the issue wasn't tactics but the players not following them. in the second half we followed those tactics better and whilst Brugge may have relaxed a little we still more than matched them.
all managers also look at teams to see where the gaps are they can exploit and I imagine we did the same as we still need that even if we are playing a system.
so it isn't about refusing to see it at all it is about stepping back and looking at the facts rather than the headlines and using those headlines to create further rancour. not happy clapping either as I can see the problems but down think any of those go away by sacking a manager as they are very deeply ingrained unfortunately.

Ehl, perhaps u could take these worries to the board or to a level that it matters.
You're obviously of the opinion that he is unable to do his job so maybe take it to those who matter.
We've not signed bad players so he's clearly not got what it takes.
The vast majority of fans want his m gone and it's only going to get worse z.

The wise man can change his mind, the stubborn one never.
20 Aug 2025 09:37:14
Angus, 2nd goal is totally tactical (lack of) .
He said he watched every game last season? Well he should know we can't defend corners or set pieces. Against Alloa we lost a goal from a corner and he said they had been working on it all week! !
That's incompetence.
20 Aug 2025 09:42:24
Angus that is just utter nonsense. How can you not see it's the system that's the problem? It's causing it all.
Great point ehl about Europe and Celtic unfortunately we have the Celtic game in 2 weeks am just glad am working for it.
I ain't confident of a result against st Mirren another game I'll miss as am nightshift at weekend. I wish I missed last nights fiasco
Angus the problems go away with the corrdt manager and a better system.
20 Aug 2025 09:44:12
Sorry bud I love you as a poster, but I'm afraid it's almost sounding like an apology for his lack of adaptability in the face of things going wrong, he's a coach who should adjust the setup/ tactics to counteract failings as they happen. His failure to do so has and will cost us continuously imo, just see it totally different bud.
20 Aug 2025 08:59:27
100 percent ehl. We need a manager that doesn't have a set style and just picks hos tactics based on the opponent.
20 Aug 2025 09:11:36
Christ, every man and his dog can see where we can be hurt, 2 examples, quick ball straight through the middle (again! ), and corners.
Would take up too much space for the rest, but we ALL know .
20 Aug 2025 09:14:22
EHL, it's his arrogance (that we were all told he had learned from) and stubbornness that'll cost him and us. It's just sore because we've all seen this movie over and over again.
20 Aug 2025 09:15:23
Fork, surely no fan is backing Martin now? :O.
20 Aug 2025 09:52:57
Stop reading Chinese crackers shota??.
20 Aug 2025 09:56:50
Wise man with long finger nails does not scratch his bum.
20 Aug 2025 10:03:30
Obviously martin is going to day that Angus. He is protecting himself. But throwing players under the boys is ridiculous.
20 Aug 2025 10:05:20
Angus what a load of BS mate.
20 Aug 2025 10:05:52
That first goal was down to his tactics based around putting Butland out of his comfort zone and making him a sweeper. The big centre half is full expecting Butland to be there as a sweeper and Butland clearly isn't comfortable. A good manager would have a system was works for both defensive and keeper. His tactics are hopeless and his management is worse.
20 Aug 2025 09:59:21
Angus completely the opposite. How can u say it's not tactics when the other manager said he played that way at the start because of our tactics? Yes it was a horrendous defensive mistake but who's set up had us with only 2 players on half way line inside 2 mins when we attacked leaving us wide open to counter? Who set up the defence for set piece being poor yet again. And who's tactics let a CB wander through unchecked to smash one in unoposed?
20 Aug 2025 11:07:05
Sorry fork but I get free prawn crackers with every post and pleaze remember it's only when a mosquito lands on your testicles, that you understand violence is not the way.
