The very mention of Kieron Dowell's name on this site appears to make many people recoil like they've just walked in on their grandfather making love to the Postie. But I'm willing to give the guy a go. I think there is a player in there, he just needs to be utilised correctly.
I watched him a lot last season, Birmingham were my old man's team before I lost him, so I always keep up with how they are doing and he did really well.
I can just imagine the guy getting pelters as soon as he makes one error.

I know one thing, KG. He won't get any leeway at all from our fans. The 'I'll drive him there myself' brigade are all over this. Martin seems to rate him so he surely must be given a chance?

Hes a sign of all that's went wrong with our club over the years. Highly rated big wages little impact and mentally weak and until we rid the team of guts like him Davies matondo yilmaz we will win nothing imo. I. ll always back the team but see no merit in dowell.

It's not the end of the world him playing, would be a lot more confident going into game if we had two wingers you could put yer hat on like a Cerny but we go with what we have got, my fear is giving a goal away with mistakes at back as we get used to formation and tactics but think we have enough to win tomorrow night especially with a full house behind them, can't wait ?????????.

Am of the same mind set kwg am fully behind the new manager n if he sees a player he can put trust in then who are we to to say otherwise. Maybe he will fall flat in his cheeks but he might surprise a few. Hink he'll be the new tav goat tho. Boos ringing out after one misplaced pass.

The lad had plenty of time to make an impact and offered very little regardless of what he did last year at Birmingham. As much as I'd prefer he not be a starter, that's not my job and if picked I'll hope he plays a blinder.
Just has to show the fans he has what it takes to play here.

Neat and tidy player, from what we've seen so far in his Rangers career his work rate is poor and lacks a bit of dig. Think he can get moved off the ball very easily.
Happy to see if a new manager can get a different tune out of him though.
Same goes for Cifuentes. Was hoping he would get another chance under RM.

I'm on the fence with him. Wouldn't be against him staying another season. Others need to go before him. Yilmaz and Matondo to name two.

I don't trust the manager and I certainly don't trust Dowell . We seem to be playing him as a " right winger " in Cernys place and he is certainly not that . He supposedly had a good half season in the English First Division with Birmingham but he was used in his proper position. If we were signing him from Birmingham we would be moaning about the standard of signing.
I wouldn't boo him and will happily admit if I'm wrong, my big worry is that I'm right.
As for the manager I've heard all the b. s that he's peddling from a number of failed managers over the last 13 years and certainly won't be falling for it until he shows us that he can back it up.

Dowell looks a decent player at times but he is one of those players who does not really fit a position for me. I don't see him as an 8 or 10 and he is not a winger.
I am disappointed that we start another season, for about the 7th in a row with not enough options in wide areas. I understand there is plenty left in the window but it's so important to have effective wide men to break teams down in our league.
I really hope to see 2 proper right sided players brought in. Gassamma and Cortes are good for the left side, I have also been really impressed by Curtis every time I see him. But on right side we are so lacking which is a concern.

Dowell played plenty of games playing on the right for birmingham, most of his goals and assists came from that position.
I'm not sure where this "he's mentally weak" is coming from to be honest not sure how you would know that. Can't call someone mentally weak because they haven't played well.

I generally get the feeling from many Rangers fans they want Martin to fail so that can say we were correct, that is the level of some of our fans now, not a chance the majority but a very small minority.

The issue is that most fans don't actually remember and have just written him off. He has only started 9 games for us with 23 subs and only 988 minutes. he only got 90 minutes once. he scored 2 goals and 2 assists. 23/ 24 he was injured for a lot of the season.
for Birmingham he got double those minutes in 23 games and scored 5 goals and 5 assists; almost 1 in 2 goal contributions.
so yes people will say it was because he is rubbish but you could argue he never got the chance to play any games in a row. when he did at Birmingham he did okay. perhaps Martin will give him that chance but the mentally weak brigade (the fans who call him it not the player ?) won't do that will they.

Get behind the manager and the squad or this will be a long season again. I'll be at Ibrox tomorrow and Martin and whoever he picks gets my full backing. Some would rather abuse players online or shout abuse at the tv than get to a game and support the team!
