Steven Gerrard manager poll

30 Apr 2025 22:24:41
I had this poll couple weeks ago ?.

30 Apr 2025 22:27:10
Not for me! Hasn't done anything to justify it. I see his Saudi team have improved after he left, and obviously same with Villa also.

30 Apr 2025 22:28:51
Shouldn't even be close.

He is not the answer.

30 Apr 2025 22:58:59
Not for me.

30 Apr 2025 23:00:13
So Asa, is your info still the same as what you said at the weekend mate and that our next manager/ head coach won't be steven gerrard and will be a young, progressive german manager/ head coach ?.

30 Apr 2025 23:05:16
Can't see it happening.

30 Apr 2025 23:15:16
I'd say no, he is in the past and should stay there, however! Regardless of who the manager is il back them from day 1 (unless it's beale) if the owners think they are good enough then I will stand by whoever comes through that door! We have to remember the 49ers want winners, they want to improve on their investment so I think they will go all out (as much as they can with ffp)

30 Apr 2025 23:26:26
Nope.

30 Apr 2025 23:41:31
Yes SWS no change.

30 Apr 2025 23:46:27
My uncles dad once said to me when I was a wee boy. One never knows does one, else one would tell one wouldn't they if one knew. That's rattled around my napper for years. Profound or nonsense? Just seems apt at the moment with the managerial circus at the moment. Good auld Hughie. Bless him.

Sorry Stig I don't get on here as much as I used to. Will be interesting if any change from your poll a few weeks back.
It's a no from me also, I'll forever be grateful for 55 and loved the buzz it brought but this takeover is about change and I don't think bring Stevie back is the right move. I also don't believe that our new investors will see it as the best fit either.

I'd prefer it wasn't Gerrard. However, it must be recognised that his and the club's hands were tied due to the lack of money generated during Covid. Remember there was no revenue on match days. Yes, he could've let Kent and Morelos go for some decent money if offers were there, but there was no guarantee he could replace like for like, nor that he'd be given funds raised in the first place. Against Malmo in the CL qualifier, we were leading in the tie only for certain senior players to bottle it against 10 men. We were 5 or 6 points clear and, yet again, the usual suspects bottled it. He was never going to be a success at Villa due to the levels of competition, likewise in Saudi where other teams were full of superstars. If he gets the gig then so be it, but I tend to agree with Asa and others that it'll be someone else.

If people think a 1 in 9 manager is the answer god help us. If that's Rangers level we are in big big trouble.

01 May 2025 07:01:08
I enjoy your posts Parlane. Just one question: is your uncle's dad not your granddad, given that an uncle is the brother of your mum or dad?

01 May 2025 07:35:22
Think it was yesterday I said he's no hero and he's no villain.

A pretty average manager in my opinion, one that would bring a little baggage if he returned - which is not how I imagine we'd want to start off the new regime with.

01 May 2025 08:22:02
Still if Clement was to blame for the players not playing then why would Gerrard not be. how will he be successful due to the level of competition Celtic provide. so if he has no competition and we manage to get players who don't bottle it he is the right manager for us.

I would suggest those caveats mean he isn't the right manager for us. I have no axe to grind here. I don't like going back with managers or players really although somehow been successful, but if he gets the job I will back him with my support.

01 May 2025 08:51:15
If you do either/ or between Stevie G. and Marco Rose it's a no trainer.

01 May 2025 09:36:06
Fork, 453 votes now mate, 71% don't want him.

01 May 2025 09:40:44
Angus, I didn't say I want Gerrard back, I only pointed out some points that might have contributed to him leaving in the first place. As far as your comment re Clement, I think it's pretty obvious that the players were to blame for his sacking. In all honesty, would any fan be upset if neither of the present players were retained for next season?

01 May 2025 09:47:23
1872blue. No mate he was an in law.

01 May 2025 10:35:34
Thanks Parlane - good riddle that my addled brain wasn't a match for.

In other news, I thank Stevie G for thwarting Terry Munro and regaining our respectability in Europe but I don't think his managerial record (then or since) warrants another crack. I think that, with the right players, Clement would have been a great manager for us and I'd prefer him over SG.

01 May 2025 13:07:12
Seen that bud?.

01 May 2025 18:19:07
I would imagine unless he posts
updated information, then yes his info is still the same SWS ?.
