Ed, can I have a poll please. Was Rangers B side playing in the lowland league a success or failure. I know a few years ago it was debated on here and few well known posters backed it to the hilt while others questioned the decision.

Rangers B side poll

I don’t see how it’s a failure.
The kids got chance to play week in week out in a competitive environment they otherwise wouldn’t have gotten.
We were able to assess that they apparently weren’t good enough to be promoted and ultimately let go and we move into next batch of kids.
It certainly wasn’t a failure.
The only problem with the experiment is the fact we or any Celtic or hearts can’t be promoted through the leagues. If this was changed it would be a great move.

2.) 07 Sep 2023 16:16:49
Failure that's the last thing i see it, boys against men only brings boys on.

3.) 07 Sep 2023 16:43:53
Failure as it hasn't really progressed any of our players if anything did the opposite kept one of beat ones out injured for spells hmer thrower league hammer thrower results

Sorry but everyone always says better players bring out the quality in other players and there is a reason for that.

4.) 07 Sep 2023 16:49:22
Whilst it may not be of the standard of the Premier League 2 it surely served a purpose. These boys would have been playing regularly, which would have done them good. Surely this year with them not being involved in regular matches, that's a bigger issue?

5.) 07 Sep 2023 16:52:49
I'm not to sure about it at all, but until the footballing authorities come up with something better, it's all we really had.

6.) 07 Sep 2023 18:12:44
There is an interview with Maurice Ross on YouTube. He says his ability was never never as a footballer despite paying for Rangers, it's as a youth coach. He is very passionate about this subject and knows quite a bit about it. He was totally convinced I having a B team in the lower leagues is a waste of time. He said elite level youth players don't want to play against part timers on an uneven pitch covered in sand. Maurice Ross said the reserve league was better because you played in too-tier stadiums, against Hearts and Hibs reserves, and you often came up against guys coming back from injury of out of favour. He said the reserve league better simulates what it is to play for the main team.

I think the B team playing in the lower leagues was a waste of time. I do think there is a place for a B team where the best youth we have and those first-steam players working their way back can come together. However, who do they play? Until the situation improves Rangers need to start putting the best youth we have out on season long loans to further their development.

7.) 07 Sep 2023 18:14:09
Lowland League is a decent standard and East Kilbride are more than capable of gaining promotion this season.
Surely it’s better for the development of our young academy players to play regular football in a structured league set up, rather than adhoc friendly games which in-effect are meaningless games.

8.) 07 Sep 2023 18:25:28
I remember playing with some1 about 12 years older than me. she taught me a lot let's say. made a young boy a young man that could nessarily play better ???.

9.) 07 Sep 2023 18:32:58
Doing what we done before it never progressed any of our players go for so what are you basing the failure on?

10.) 07 Sep 2023 18:35:04
It works in a lot of better countries in the world than Scotland ie Spain holland Germany and it works for them and they have done it for years but people on here know better ?. Maybe you should all write to Ajax Bayern Barcelona and real and tell them it doesn’t work and they can stop wasting their time ?.

11.) 07 Sep 2023 18:38:41
Lol dd.

12.) 07 Sep 2023 18:39:16
Our whole youth system at Rangers is a failure IMHO. Current batch devine, King, Rice and Yfeko, McCrorie have absolutely no chance of breaking into the first team and getting a regular star. The last big youth player to come out of our club was Patterson and even he could command a regular start. If i was a betting man. I will predict that in 2 seasons Devine, King, McCrorie, Yfeko, Rice, and fringe players lovelace, Ure, Mccausland, Ishaka and poss Lowry will be all be moved on because Rangers do not play young players apart from low level opp in the cups games. They will all go the same way as C McCann, Hardie Coombes, Mayo. I really don't see the point in it. Be honest out of all the young players that we have seen in friendlies or cup games has any of them looked out of place of out of their depth. Does that matter no because playing well, doesn't result in you being anywhere nearer a regular first team starter. Your reward is oh you get to train with the first team and if your lucky get to sit on the bench in a european game, due to the home grown quota. Or maybe a loan deal.

13.) 07 Sep 2023 19:13:39
We would have been better to play the B team in the Lowland League this season in my opinion rather than what we are currently doing or not doing instead.
It looks to me like we spat the dummy out the pram to our own detriment but others will no better.

14.) 07 Sep 2023 19:32:11
Whether is was a success or not it has got to be better than them having no competitive football at all which is the disgraceful fate awaiting the boys once they get to 18 . Beale saw no value in it, so that's probably the reason we withdrew . Maybe we`ll be back in it next year under our new manager.

15.) 07 Sep 2023 20:01:11
99 percent of academy players don’t make it to full time football contracts as professionals that’s fact so it’s no just something happening at rangers it’s world wide. To say it’s a failure because lowery got injured is the worst opinion you will read in yer life.

16.) 07 Sep 2023 20:33:39
Think Rice will play regularly unless sold first.

17.) 07 Sep 2023 21:23:24
Stewarty they will only make here if they are good enough if they aren’t then you are right they will leave like others have done.

18.) 07 Sep 2023 21:40:07
Ah Dd those ladies of bankok.

19.) 07 Sep 2023 23:01:35
I think from around 18 they got to be thereabouts in the team, richer clubs snap this age range up immediately, I think a lot of the time we blood them too late. I mean come on I would replace lundstrum with rice right now, don’t see the point in a humdrum player holding back a potential superstar in the making.

Sir Walter you say bring Neil McCann on board, did you not lead the calls for him to be fired on here when he said Morelos was lazy and fat on Rangers TV last season?

One for all

1.) 06 Sep 2023 10:03:44
Not me one for all but i did say mccann shouldn't have said that at the time ?.

2.) 06 Sep 2023 12:03:57
Ally McCoist talks a good game of football on the TV. Maybe we should try him as a coach?

3.) 06 Sep 2023 12:07:36
He was lazy and fat.

4.) 06 Sep 2023 13:14:26
Lads, I can't see the Board sacking Beale at this timer but I can see them asking why the players that we spent money on (Cifuentes, Danilo, Lammers) are not in the starting line up. Every time Dessers pulls on that jersey we hope to see justification of why he's been brought in, only for him to let us down at every turn. These things, coupled with poor or inept tactics, don't give us fans confidence that MB will turn it around. If however (and it's a big if) there are rumblings of discontent in the dressing room then it's only a matter of time before he's gone. Whatever team he picks against St Johnstone better delivery 3 points - if not, there's no way I see him recovering from such a failure.

I think there's one thing fans forget if Michael Beale goes his signings remain. What manager can make average players into the standard required.

One for all

1.) 05 Sep 2023 17:34:55
A proper manager could win the league with the squad we have. No doubt.

2.) 05 Sep 2023 18:05:14
Beale will not get the boot, Muscat is not the answer, otherwise Wolves would of gone for him. I would like to see Barry Ferguson and Craig Moore on the coaching staff to put some fire in this squads belly ???.

3.) 05 Sep 2023 18:56:27
Barry Ferguson and Craig Moore on the coaching staff? Just because they are on pod casts spouting nonsense just to keep themselves relevant. What experience do they have coaching at the top level? Do you just want them to shout at people and tell them how things used to be. We need an experienced manager and back room team, if it includes former Rangers men then all well and good but only if they are qualified to do so.

4.) 05 Sep 2023 19:09:02
All hypothetical as michael beale will be rangers manager until at least the next transfer window imo
Lets hope he can win the league cup and get this team gelled ?.

5.) 05 Sep 2023 19:37:56
Not for me in a million years … Ferguson is a total bad influence and not a very nice guy . well the few times I met him … the biggest billy big baws since Hatley.? . bomber brown maybe.

6.) 05 Sep 2023 19:48:42
Yes, I would like someone to shout at them, cus they ain’t listening to Beale and his current back room staff . Yes I would like things as they used to be . A team that plays with guts and spirit, that leaves it all on the pitch after 90 mins . A team of winners!

7.) 05 Sep 2023 20:38:12
Try and get big davie weir or graeme souness as our director of football to take the weight from michael beale and i would look to bring neil mccann into the backroom team as i think he's a decent coach and will be very vocal on what's required to be a successful rangers player ?Wee neily definitely knows what it takes and i've a lot of respect and time for neil mccann ?.

8.) 05 Sep 2023 21:02:38
Totally agree Sir Walter . Davie Weir dof and Neil McCan on the back room staff . But I think big Davie is happy at Brighton.

9.) 05 Sep 2023 22:01:12
McCann What makes him a good coach? You championed Beale and look where than has got us so far not won a game that matter against Celtic.

10.) 06 Sep 2023 08:01:38
Walter why would weir leave one off the best run clubs in europe for rangers

Souness has not been involved for over twenty years at a club.

Hes done nothing in any game he's played Beale, can't remember one were I thought was over a 6 in ratings. I'm honestly not bothered what his other clubs fans say I'm interested in what he's done Rangers and that is zero.

Maybe he has a RB who can defend behind him international duty John? Until this WHOLE back 4 is replaced. I firmly believe its the defence that's the big problem and not to have improved it in the summer is criminal.

P. S. I wouldn't give Michael Beale one penny more HIS signings have been awful and if true he signed Dessers and Lammers from scouting them 4 seasons the board are just as much to blame for allowing him to sign them.

Devine should be given an opportunity at either fullback position but this management team doesn't trust Scottish youth players.

I'd like that system if new fullbacks, Tavernier is declining and Yilmaz is another who is severely overrated.
