Sounds like a daft rumour started becasue he was up for the game. Nice to see him up watching us and doing it the right way, doing it quietly and nobody really saw anythng about it until after the game, rather than making a big thing of sitting in the Main Stand trying to be the centre of attention, like his former assistant did.

Be careful what we wish for. Purdy has taken some amount of abuse, however, if we look at the players he's brought with a bit of perspective, I think we'd all agree that they're not usless and now their finding their feet are showing they are decent players. What attributes does McCulloch have to take over that role? Being "staunch" isn't allowed as an answer.

Thanks YoungBlue. It would make more sense for him to come back in an ambassadorial capacity but, as others have said, he probably still feels he has something to prove in management. A similar thing happened many years ago when David Murray appointed Kenny Dalglish to that type of role, only for him to leave shortly afterwards to replace KK at Newcastle.

no but Purdy and Thelwell propose signings to the committee don't they. so the difficult part before someone just ticks the box. Purdy does the analytics as I understand and Thelwell in charge of scouting. However they do it the players they have proposed to the committee seem to be starting to do well.

Purdy does not do analytics as he has no experience, his role is to manage 13 departments who all directly report to him.
