Just wondering if EHL's semi-cryptic message early in the transfer window about Nico Raskin knowing where he would be playing meant he would be staying? Hopefully the message I got a few weeks back is correct, new contract offer was what he wanted and was being considered. Him and Neil in midfield just looks majestic.

14 Sep 2026 12:45:24
DTB, I did confirm that he had one club that he was keen to join, outside of that he was committed to staying.

There was a slight chance that his dream move would come true, and the board requested that he was rested to avoid injury - but it didn't happen.

I believe there is already provisional agreement on an extension, with just the release clause to be finalised.

14 Sep 2026 13:41:26
Ta again, EHL.

14 Sep 2026 13:42:22
EHL, that's best for all parties imo getting an extension with a release clause. Personally down to his age think 10m is fair for both parties. Think any lower we are getting under cut any higher we potentially price him out of a move. What do you think higher or lower than 10m?

14 Sep 2026 13:48:50
Personally I would go higher, closer to £15m as that allows some haggling to take place. He's worth more than 10 in my view.

14 Sep 2026 14:37:27
What do you mean down to his age, he's 25 years old, he's hitting his peak years, 10mil would be selling ourselves short on that.

14 Sep 2026 14:58:22
Come next summer he will be just about to turn 27, unless they are a big club I can't see your traditional player trading clubs we would be dealing with coming in and spending more than 10-15m on him. No one came in with that kind of money this summer I don't see it next summer. Teams like that want players who are 19-22 that they can buy for 20m then flip for 3x that.

Just my opinion, but Raskin won't ever leave us for the kind of money some hope.
Makhana, Chermiti, Kelsey, minsu, Gassama etc will and it's down to their age imo.

14 Sep 2026 14:59:18
Wouldn't be against that DTB but I reckon 15m was probably round about our price this summer and no one bit.

14 Sep 2026 15:02:57
I agree 10mil for Raskin is way too low, but I suppose if he accepts a new contract that's part of the negotiations but Rangers will have a value in mind and looking at transfers across the uk just now I'd say closer to 20 mil is the going rate.

There's players in the English Championship going for over 10mil and his countryman Engels went for a 25 odd to the Championship.

14 Sep 2026 15:56:28
I think West Ham wildly overpaid for Engels but again he's a lot younger than Raskin and they probably think they'll flip for a profit.

No one's going to pay 20m for a midfielder about to turn 27 next summer, just don't see it.
His stock will never have been higher this summer after doing brilliant at a World Cup and we didn't get they kind of offers.

I think there will have to be give and take if we want him to sign an extension with a release clause it has to be an achievable one for him for him to sign it, and I don't think he'll want 15m as could price him out a move and we then risk losing him for F all.

14 Sep 2026 16:11:42
Wishy Raskin only 2 years older than Engels and players usually peak mid to late 20's therefore we just need to find a mug punter who is willing to do what west ham done and there's plenty out there, Raskin is way better than engels.

Agree about buy out though it needs to suit all parties if extension being signed that's what main negotiations will be about.

14 Sep 2026 16:14:20
Ir has never been made clear his sell on clause off 12 million was removed.

14 Sep 2026 16:20:39
We can get 20m for him if he's part of a successful team and is playing well regularly.
If we win a cup and maybe the league and he's playing well week in week out then, as well as being an established international the only thing missing is playing well in euro comps.

14 Sep 2026 16:27:46
The point is, even if we set the clause at £25m, we could still accept a bid of £12, . £15m, £20m etc etc. It just gives room to negotiate, but if it was set at £10m then that's obviously as much as we would get. That's why I think we should make any clause price more than we would are likely to accept!

14 Sep 2026 16:34:03
Ehl

Was the club Roma?

14 Sep 2026 16:36:41
Raskin's countryman Tielemans is 29 and went from Villa to Man United for £35m.

Just saying.

14 Sep 2026 16:42:13
Do the bouncy we are working from the assumption it needs to be a sell on clause that has to be attractive to Raskin mate, he holds the cards now we need him to sign an extension otherwise he's into the last year of his deal.

I'd love nothing more than 20m for him but I am being realistic if we were going to get that kind of fee we would have got it this summer.

14 Sep 2026 16:56:24
I can't take the Raskin valuation chat again 😂😂

But he's playing well past few games with Neil so hopefully that continues.

14 Sep 2026 16:59:14
If Raskin is worth £15m then Dan Neil is worth £30m on yesterdays performance.

14 Sep 2026 17:08:04
Wishy, he doesn't turn 27 next summer, he's not 27 until 2028.

14 Sep 2026 17:21:59
Wishy dead easy to do fact checking these days. 27 next year not 28.

14 Sep 2026 18:10:53
My mistake RR thought his birthday was October for some reason.

Foolmonty I get that and the point I was making unless a team like Man United etc come in who don't buy players to flip for profit then I don't see anyone paying big money.

We don't usually sell players directly to teams like Man Utd.

14 Sep 2026 18:28:26
Just Google the fees being paid for established midfielders around the 27-year-old mark over the last couple of transfer windows. The idea that being 27 automatically means we have to accept a relatively low fee is nonsense. Enzo Fernández has just moved to Manchester City for £125m, for example.

And before anyone starts with "but look where they play", that's missing the point. Obviously players in the Premier League or other major European leagues command different fees, but age itself isn't what determines a player's value. At 27, a midfielder can be in his prime rather than approaching the end of his career.

Raskin is also an established international midfielder with Belgium, so he isn't simply being valued as a 27-year-old player from Scotland. If he continues to perform at the level he has shown, his value is determined by what he can offer a buying club, the number of clubs interested in him, his contract and how much Rangers are prepared to demand; not simply the fact that he's 27.

We shouldn't be talking ourselves into accepting a low fee before anyone has even made an offer. His age doesn't set his price. His performances and the market do.

14 Sep 2026 18:30:36
Foolmonty, He's a much better player though.

14 Sep 2026 20:28:33
Dream move would be Chelsea would it not? Which I could never have seen happening this summer.

14 Sep 2026 21:19:46
If Raskin continues to perform the way he has so far it will be £14 to 16 million we'll get for him. He's been decent so far this & most of his time here he's been inconsistent but I order for him to be £20+ million, he needs to do more than break up play & tackle hard.

14 Sep 2026 23:42:53
His clause will be £20m British and that's fair.

We may not get it but that'll be his number

See at the end of the day we've got a Belgian starting international who seems happy to play and be here

I think he's happy to be here and unless he gets top e leagues and decent side he won't move.

15 Sep 2026 07:26:25
Bouncy, if it's a clause that says 10 m then that doesn't mean nobody will offer more, if 5 clubs want him then they will pay more, to get him, a clause only means he can talk, not that he will only go for 10.

15 Sep 2026 07:25:51
Lets just enjoy the midfield partnership of nico Raskin and dan neil and let it take it's course whether Raskin stays, signs a new contract extension or goes, that's for another day and will take care of itself 🤔🇬🇧.

15 Sep 2026 09:34:01
Yes SWS let's have him playing consistently well for us 1st then any xfer will take care
Of itself we do seem obsessed at times of putting a valuation on a player esp after a few good performances. Let's win summit 1st with those players and take if from there.

15 Sep 2026 12:40:09
You all seem to be forgetting the fact Raskin is going into the last year of his deal and has to agree to the release clause I am being realistic. We will see how much he eventually leaves for and I think a lot of you are going to be very disappointed.

15 Sep 2026 16:27:06
Never heard so much crap around nobody will pay 20m cuz of his age. If that was the case no players of his age would be transferring. Utter nonsense and not every club is using a system where they need to get their money back on resale. Especially if in England where £20/25m is NOTHING! It's a bargain. £40m? Yeh maybe. Otherwise just BS.

15 Sep 2026 17:11:47
Next summer he's going to be 26 with a year left if Rangers get 20m for him it will be a miracle. It's not crap it's realistic. We didn't get it this summer after he was a stand out for Belgium in a World Cup. I would love to think we could get him to sign a new deal and put a 20m release clause in it but why would he? He would just be pricing himself out a move.

So if we are going to get him to sign an extension then it's likely going to be a release clause that is lower than we all expect. I'd love to be completely wrong and we do get 20m but I don't think we will it's my opinion. So just you chill your beans Gdog pal.

15 Sep 2026 21:08:38
Couple times EHL hadnt answers me so I'm assuming I'm one of those he's silenced 😂

Oh well.
