Question to slim Jim, was your info that Rangers didn't want to sign or couldn't afford Lewis this window? As his father said he had agreeed to come back on open goal and it was Rangers that didn't bid for him.

Also goes against others saying Ferguson didn't want to sign MPH👀

Think it's fairly obvious that Lewis will sign when Raskin goes. Raskin's fee pays a large sum of Lewis' fee.

DM said about Raskin going in January, so we could see movement then.

Rangers made no offer for Ferguson. It was considered too expensive with no future sell on.

04 Sep 2026 14:04:10
Makes sense tbh, John.

04 Sep 2026 14:16:22
No future sell on, no, but what he brings is priceless, like his uncle did! Signing him could have been the difference between winning the league and a shot at the Champions League, and not which of we made it makes a profit right there. Sometimes, you need to pay good money for experience too.

Not just experience, but the guy would have a willingness to run through brick walls for this club again, like his dad and uncle did before him! If there was an opportunity to sign him, we had to take it!

04 Sep 2026 14:20:13
Dozed, he is highly overhyped in my opinion.

04 Sep 2026 14:26:52
Spot on Dizzie.

04 Sep 2026 14:34:04
Yes, apparently no offer from Rangers but his dad Derek said Lewis had agreed to go to Rangers but no offer followed. 🤔

04 Sep 2026 14:42:39
Derek F said the ship has sailed for Jan. If he doesn't sign a contract extension with Bologna, we'll end up getting him cheaper. There's no doubt he will play for Rangers one day, as him and his agent have said he will.

I like that the board have spent a lot of money but you can see they're only going for potential to make money back. They need to understand we need some proven players for now, if we want to challenge for trophies.

04 Sep 2026 14:46:12
Hard transfer for Rangers, too much money and no sell on, but we need a player like him that would do a job for us for next 5-6 years as a foundation on team to build off. We really need three or four similar, then make money off younger players in rest of team.

04 Sep 2026 14:46:20
How do you know we would win the league? I believe he would have made little difference to the outcome, to be honest. 1 man don't maketh the team.

I doubt very much Lewis said he would go to Rangers without adding how much it would take to bring him here. Ultimately, Lewis will play where he is being paid the best, it's his job at the end of the day.

We would all do the same. Maybe it wouldn't take just as much for him to decide on Rangers, but that figure may still be too high.

But, more importantly, who is going to shell out 17M with no chance of recovery? We get less than 1/3 of that for winning the league.

04 Sep 2026 14:50:18
Dream midfield would be Billy Gilmour and Lewis Ferguson.

04 Sep 2026 14:51:24
I was adamant from the start that Ferguson was definitely never signing for Rangers, Wishy. But I was told by a few on here I was talking nonsense.

Rangers were never going to sanction £17 million on one player with no potential return on that money (future sale). It goes against everything the club are trying to achieve going forward to keep us sustainable and competitive.

All experienced players that have come into the club have been frees or loans.
All money spent has been on young hungry talent.

The problem was that a lot of fans put 2 & 2 together and came up with Ferguson when the club said they wanted a Scottish, Rangers connection to appease the staunch brigade. The rumour mill then ran and ran.

04 Sep 2026 14:52:19
So who did Ferguson agree with to sign for Rangers?

04 Sep 2026 14:57:15
Can I ask what people actually think LF would bring to this current team that we don't already have? I mean, tactically, not the fact he's a Ferguson, Rangers man etc.

04 Sep 2026 14:58:05
Sorry guys, never understood the hype other than family/Rangers connections. Was a helluva lot of money for someone who, in my opinion, wouldn't improve us by much.

But we move on, let's hope the current crop are introduced to each other before the next game & we start to see something positive happening on the pitch (we can but keep believing!)

04 Sep 2026 15:13:16
MPH, not disputing that, just think it was the club who chose not to sign him, not the player.

04 Sep 2026 16:11:47
If the price was £17m, then it makes sense. Would have liked him at the club, but doesn't make financial sense as his value will decrease in terms of sell on. We could have had him for much much cheaper if we moved before he went to Italy.

04 Sep 2026 17:16:20
For that sort of money I'd prefer Billy Gilmour. 💙

04 Sep 2026 17:42:25
Let's can the 'dream' Gilmour chat too. Lads, so injury prone. Wouldn't waste the money or wages.

04 Sep 2026 17:52:24
Watch this space.

Next summer he'll be the first in. Lewis holds relationships with so many people at the club, including senior members. His desire is still to play and win for Rangers.

£17.5m was the price they wanted with a sell on attached. If the deal was circa £10-12.5m, it would have been done. There was no movement on their price.

04 Sep 2026 18:04:13
Lewis will sign for Rangers in January imo.

04 Sep 2026 18:07:50
Don't sorry why fans wouldn't want Ferguson, he's moved abroad to a better league and became a captain of a foreign team, captained them to silverware and was by far the best Scottish player at the World Cup. Statistically ahead of a lot of players in a similar role at the World Cup, think 17m is a lot with him getting older but what a coup that would have been if we managed to get him.
